L’any passat ho va fer amb una veu amb unes condicions no prou bones, però tot i això recordo amb gran joia aquell concert. Ja sigui per voler deixar amb bones sensacions al respectable o pel que fos, però aquest 2023 ha tornat a venir a un festival al qual s’ha desviscut en bones paraules. Té molt de mèrit que un festival programi dos anys seguits a un artista que fa 4 anys que no publica disc. Suposem que ha estat un dels motius que el músic s’ha desfet en elogis cap a l’organització i ho ha donat tot al llarg de les pràcticament dues hores que ha durat l’espectacle. Un artista que en tot moment ha anat amunt i avall, passejant-se entremig dels espectadors, interactuant, fent-los partícips de tot allò que estava passant. Perquè de vida només en tenim una i amb Mika tot és més fàcil. El concert ha arrencat amb un speech en català, molt celebrat per la gent que l’hi ha volgut agrair el gest que ha tingut cap als seguidors del país. Tot i que la major part del concert ha anat intercalant el castellà i l’anglès, s’ha notat l’esforç i com ha volgut cuidar a totes les persones que fa tants anys que li donen suport. Això sí, sorpresa majúscula quan ha demanat que la gent aixequés les mans en cas que fos el primer cop que anaven a un concert seu. Moltíssima gent era la seva estrena amb l’artista! Segurament havien escoltat alguna de les seves cançons a la ràdio i van pensar que en directe seria tot un show. Com així ha estat. Si una cosa bona té l’artista és el domini absolut del tempo, de les reaccions del públic, del lloc i de l’escenari. Un escenari on estava acompanyat de varis músics i d’unes coristes que s’han pogut lluir en un bon grapat de moments. No han faltat peces com ‘Lollipop’ (la meva preferida i on us he de confessar que he ballat i saltat com feia dies que no ballava), però també ‘Big girls’, ‘Relax (take it easy)’, ‘Love today’, ‘Elle me dit’, ‘Ice Cream’ o ‘Underwater’. La part final ha enllaçat una emocionant ‘Happy ending’ (on s’ha pogut comprovar el seu talent vocal) o ‘Grace Kelly (amb un públic exultant). Amb aquesta cançó ha dit adéu, però tots (menys la vintena de persones que han fugit com si tinguessin molta pressa) sabien que això no podia acabar així de fred! Faltava el colofó final amb ‘We are golden’ i de nou ‘YoYo’ que ha servit per tancar una nit on s’ha consumat una bonica d’història d’amor entre l’artista i el festival. El músic repeteix a Cap Roig després d'actuar el 2022 Aquest diumenge hem tancat la setmana gaudint per segon any consecutiu amb el directe de Mika a Cap Roig, a Calella de Palafrugell. Ha estat el sisè cop que l’he vist en concert. I sempre, des del primer cop que el vaig veure que he guardat un gran record dels seus shows. L’any passat va actuar amb alguns problemes a la veu, però aquest any anava al 100% i ha pogut demostrar tota la seva potència vocal. Ha interpretat alguns dels seus grans èxits, ja que el músic fa 4 anys que no publica disc, tot i que ha anat presentant senzills els darrers anys. I a més ha demostrat que es pot aprendre català en un any si hi ha voluntat de fer-ho! Ha començat amb un parlament en la llengua catalana, en un moment on algunes forces polítiques sembla que vulguin acabar amb el català. Ha estat molt emotiu i el públic ho ha agraït amb un sonor aplaudiment. M’ha sobtat al comprovar com moltes de les persones que havien vingut, mai l’havien vist en directe. No és que ara sonin molt les seves cançons a la ràdio, però m’ha fet il·lusió comprovar com els seus temes són atemporals i com tothom se les coneix a la perfecció. El músic ha estat molt agraït amb l’organització del festival, ja que com dèiem, és poc habitual portar a un músic que no ha tret disc recentment, però encara ho és més portar-lo dos anys seguits! També ha volgut agrair a totes les persones que pràcticament omplien el recinte, baixant amb tots ells cantant alguns dels seus temes i movent-se amunt i avall compartint tot el seu amor. I és que si d’una cosa es pot caracteritzar l’artista és que té amor a dojo per compartir. Ja sigui amb les seves cançons o amb la seva manera d’entendre la vida. El concert l’ha obert amb ‘Love today’ i durant pràcticament dues hores no hem parat de viure la felicitat que transmet amb cadascuna de les seves cançons, ja siguin les més tranquil·les com les més festives. Els que ens sabíem l’ordre de les cançons una mica més i ens ve un atac de nervis quan hem vist que se saltava ‘Lollipop’ un dels himnes del seu debut i una de les composicions més estimades. Ha decidit sobre la marxa canviar l’ordre, però havia de sonar sí o sí. Com també ens ha regalat ‘Live your life’, una cançó que només toca quan ofereix directes a l’estat espanyol i és que el tema formava part d’una campanya publicitària d’una coneguda marca de cervesa on un dels seus eslògans era “Allà on va, triomfa”, que encaixa a la perfecció amb l’artista. No han faltat ‘Relax, take it easy’, ‘Grace Kelly, ‘Underwater’, ‘Happy ending’, ‘Big girl’, ‘Elle me dit’ o ‘We are golden’. El show s’ha tancat repetint ‘Yo Yo’ amb una versió més festiva que donava per finalitzat el concert. Ah i ja ens ha avisat que no hi ha dos sense tres! A l'escenari, lluentons, un joc de llums poderós, fonts que escopien foc i entrega i carisma a cabassos per fer que l'agermanament amb el públic fos total. Mika tornava diumenge per segon estiu consecutiu al festival de Cap Roig, repetint fórmula i resultat, perquè amb els ingredients que proposa l'artista l'espectacle i el gaudi queden garantits. Amb un vestit verd enlluernador i assegut al piano, va començar el concert amb un discurs en català, posant-se els assistents al jardí botànic a la butxaca i prometent que durant aquella nit "tothom estimaria" per arrencar amb Love today. Satisfet de tornar a ser a Calella de Palafrugell, va explicar que era la primera vegada que repetia en un festival a l'Estat, i per això va prometre expressar-se només en català i en castellà. Ho va incomplir, però tant li feia, i entre l'anglès, l'espanyol italianitzat que defensa relativament bé i una espectadora que el va ajudar a traduir al català Elle ma dit, va repartir joc i melodies naïf sense donar treva, com quan va fer Origin of love passejant una enorme flor com si fos un para-sol o va interpretar des del pati de butaques Big girl (you are beautiful). Tornaria a baixar de l'escenari per cantar des de dalt d'un dels seients -el d'en Jaume, un sacrificat seguidor que va acabar aclamat per l'auditori- Good guys i una esplèndida versió d'Underwater. Durant gairebé dues hores, l'intèrpret britanicolibanes no va afluixar: va saltar, va canviar-se de vestuari en dues ocasions i va inundar de colors i pirotècnia l'escenari en diverses ocasions mentre deixava anar trumfos com Relax, take It easy, Lollipop o Live your life, una cançó, va assegurar, que només interpreta quan és a Espanya. Pocs assistents -entre els quals hi havia moltes famílies- van aguantar tota la vetllada a la cadira. També va interpretar la recent Yo yo i Happy endings i als francòfons presents a la Costa Brava els va regalar Boum boum boum i Elle ma dit al clam de "quan la vida és una merda, balla!". Va rematar-ho amb la coneguda Grace Kelly i, com a bis, We're golden, interpretada amb el tors nu, una capa verda i un cap de tigre a la testa. Mika va tancar la festa al costat dels quatre músics i les quatre coristes, botant davant d'una audiència entusiasmada al ritme d'una versió enllaunada de Yo yo. "El meu espanyol és millor que l'any passat i prometo, que si torno, serà encara millor", havia avançat feia una estona, recorrent fins i tot a una dita per agrair l'entusiasme a Cap Roig i augurar que "no hay dos, sin tres". No devia saber, i potser per això li va ser fàcil de desmuntar, la de "segones parts mai foren bones". L’artista libanès ha viscut una segona nit màgica al festival de Calella de Palafrugell, després de l’èxit de l’any passat. Un any en què ha millorat el seu castellà, però el que més va aplaudir el públic va ser el seu discurs inicial íntegrament en català. Va ser l’inici de prop de dues hores d’absoluta connexió amb el públic, de qui l’artista es va envoltar en diverses ocasions. Si en aquest any en Mika no s’ha tret el nivell C1 de català, crec que el Consorci per la Normalització Lingüística l’hi hauria de convalidar. L’esforç que va fer per obrir el concert en la nostra llengua va ser destacable. Ho va fer per presentar primera cançó del concert: Love Today. “Un record es converteix en una cançó, una cançó es converteix en un desig. Un desig es converteix en realitat. Cap Roig, ara podem començar la nostra magia. Avui tothom estimarà!”. Va continuar amb “Origin of Love”. I, a continuació, “Big Girls”, la primera cançó amb què va baixar de l’escenari per “complir amb la tradició”. I és que l’any passat ja va començar el concert des de la platea. Aquest any, per innovar, no va arrencar allà. Hi va baixar més tard, però va ser més intens. Hi va tornar amb “Good Boys” i amb “Underwater”. I les tres vegades va interactuar amb el públic fent de director d’una coral improvisada, saltant, ballant i pujant dalt de les butaques. El públic ho va donar tot, amb totes les peçes, les més conegudes i també les que ho són menys. Però és inevitable que quan van arribar “Tiny Love” i “Rain”, tot explotés. Així com amb “Live your life”, una cançó que ens porta molt bons records perquè va ser la banda sonora d’un anunci d’estiu d’una marca de cervesa. De fet, va reconèixer que “només la canto a Espanya”. I així va encarar la part final del concert, amb “Yo-yo”, la seva cançó més techno, que va començar a ritme suau amb piano. I el moment àlgid, que tothom recordarà va ser Grace Kelly, que fa 16 anys va rebentar totes les llistes d’èxits. Va ser la culminació d’un concert ple d’aguts, balls, salts i emoció. La cirereta la va posar amb We are Golden, que va servir per tancar la nit. Un concert en què Michael Holbrook va demostrar que continua en plena forma, i va deixar que vol tornar a Calella. El Cap Roig és l’únic festival de l’Estat on ha actuat dues vegades, i ja ho va dir ell mateix: “No hay dos sin tres”, va sentenciar. En un escenari conegut, Mika va voler estar encara més a prop del públic, i no va dubtar a improvisar per fer-ho: va ser el rei cantant Underwater dret damunt una butaca mentre tothom el seguia reverencialment assegut en les seves localitats i cantava a les seves ordres. Tret de l'home que li va cedir amb gust el seient, un tal Jaume. En la recta final, quan l'artista començava a atacar Happy ending, esperonat per la confiança, va voler llançar un consell per a aquesta i totes les nits: "Quan la vida és una merda, balla". De fet, aquesta vegada Mika va voler impregnar el seu univers pink amb una pàtina més enèrgica i contundent. El tornava a acompanyar la seva banda (guitarra, baix, teclats i bateria) i diumenge van sumar-s'hi quatre coristes negres. També era nou la gran majoria del públic de la platea, com van confirmar els mateixos espectadors a petició de Mika. I, per sorprendre els seguidors més fidels, el cantant va remoure el repertori amb incorporacions com Good guys, Overrated i Boum boum boum. Mika és un animal escènic amb una energia inesgotable: va complir amb escreix la promesa inicial de parlar només en català i castellà al llarg de tota la nit, tot i que va fer parlaments breus, i va desgranar sense treva una vintena dels seus grans temes en prop de dues hores: Love today va donar el tret de sortida de la nit, en lloc de sonar al final com l'any passat, i la festa va continuar amb hits com Ice cream, Relax, Lollipop, Live your life il'encomanadissa Yo yo. MIKA DEJÓ HUELLA POR SEGUNDA VEZ EN EL FESTIVAL DE CAP ROIG: TODO EL MUNDO AMA A MIKA! (EVERYBODY LOVES MIKA!) Michael Holbrook Penniman Jr., más conocido por todo el mundo como MIKA, actuó de nuevo en España por segundo año consecutivo y dentro del programa del mismo festival, el Cap Roig Festival. El cantante y compositor británico-estadounidense de origen libanés, explicaba ayer que él nunca repite un directo en el mismo festival, pero por alguna razón, el festival del jardín botánico de Cap Roig le tiene robado el corazón. De hecho, tanto este año como en 2022, su única parada en España ha sido en este paraje de la Costa Brava. La simpatia es una de la virtudes que más caracteriza a este artistazo de la voz, -tiene tantos registros vocales que se terminan los dedos de las manos para contarlos todos-, y la empatía hacia su público. Lo demuestra al inicio del concierto, sentado en su piano y leyendo frases en catalán. El cantante intentó explicarse, entre canción y canción, en castellano (el cual lo habló bastante bien comparado con el año pasado) y chapurreando algo más en catalán. Supo meterse al público en el bolsillo desde el minuto cero. El directo fue todo un espectáculo de sube-bajas. Igual te ponía en pie a bailar y saltar con su ‘Relax’ o la ya mítica ‘We are Golden’ o la canción que le llevó a la fama, ‘Grace Kelly’, como se metía entre el público a modo de director de orquestra haciendolo cantar al son de ‘Rain’ o ‘Live Your Life’. Era una combinación ideal para los que tenemos ya cierta edad y nos gusta darlo todo en los conciertos. Un rato bailando y otro rato relajándote. Pero… parece ser que, según indicó el propio Mika al final de ‘Grace Kelly‘, nunca hay dos sin tres. Así que, tenemos otro año más para cojer fuerzas y, repetir! Ja ho va fer l’estiu passat, en la seva primera intervenció al festival. En aquella ocasió, l’actuació va estar marcada per una afonia, efecte de la covid que havia tingut tot just tres dies abans del concert, però que hauria passat quasi desapercebuda si no ho hagués confessat al públic en els minuts finals. La manca de veu la va compensar de manera extraordinària. Aquest diumenge repetia actuació al mateix escenari. I tampoc va decebre. Poc importava que el plantejament fos pràcticament calcat del de l’any passat. No destacava el què, sinó el com. L’actitud. I, en això, Mika és el número 1. Pura entrega. Felicitat encomanadissa. Des del minut zero es va posar el públic a la butxaca. Sol al piano. En un català no direm que perfecte però molt acceptable, narra la història d’una treballadora de la nit que veu cada matinada al costat d’una gasolinera. Una nit la dona desapareix. Mai més la torna a veure. Però li inspira una cançó d’amor. Un record que es converteix en cançó. I a partir d’aquí, arrenca Love today, amb aguts inabastables, amb indumentària de brillantina verda i balls encomanadissos que fan aixecar el públic de les cadires a la primera de canvi. I a partir d’aquí l’huracà Mika és imparable. Sigui en el registre que sigui. Desbocat amb temes dance com Relax, Lollipop, YoYo, Big girl, Grace Kelly o Golden. Ballant i fent ballar. Divertint-se i fent divertir. Una comunió total. Però també tocant la fibra amb la seva versió més intimista com Overrated o l’espectacular Underwater enfilat a dalt d’una cadira enmig del públic, que acaba fent els cors, en un dels moments més especials de la nit. D’un format a un altre sense respir, Mika ofereix durant dues hores un espectacle increïble, un cant inesgotable a estimar com vulguis i a qui vulguis, a viure i a deixar viure. Mika s’alegrava que fos Cap Roig el primer festival de l’Estat en què repetia. Es va acomiadar dient que on n’hi ha dos n’hi ha tres. I don't know why I didn't record it So here are videos in the order I recorded them. The concert started in unusual way. Still in the dark Mika sat at the small piano.First I thought it was Vincent (as usual). Hopefully I recognized him in and I started filming. Mika read (I think) in Catalan (not to confuse with Spanish!!!) the intro for Love Today we heard during the Reveleation Tour. Then he disappeared backstage and Love Today started while the band and the choir entered the stage. Origin of Love Ice Cream First suit change and he comes back in his white outfit!!!! Big Girl started as well in unusual way - they turned off the lights and Mika got down from the stage making people screaming. I don't know if it's only my impression but there was a lot of men in the public and they really sang well!!!! I am not sure but then there was Relax. Overrated During Good Guys Mika went to the audience again. I had a beautiful view with Mika and the audience. It reminded me the view I had in Chieti. Mika mentioned the gig in Tarvisio where he was standing in the middle of the audience and he asked everybody to sit down to listen to two songs. He wanted to recreate the same here in Capo Roig. It was funny because at the beginning of the concert he promised to speak Spanish but then here he started to speak English. So he switched into Spanish. But I think he realized that it will be easier for him to explain things in English, so he got back to English again He said that only this guy standing next to him can't sit down as Mika took his place So he asked everybody to sit down, mentioning that first rows risk to get torticollis while sitting with their heads turned back. It looks like he changed the setlist as he mentioned that his band has no idea what song he wants to sing. So he showed it and I started to scream Underwater As usual we all had a great fun! Rain - I recorded only a beginning as Mika started to leave the audience and he ran on the stage. Next song was Live Your Life. Mika started to telling story about recording an Ice Cream video in Spain in winter and they had to pretend it was summer but they were freezing. And that he made a song that he doesn't sing in other countries only in Spain. And he was laughing that he has to recall the lyrics. Boum Boum Boum - just a short video. Lollipop. Improvisation at the beginning and playing with Vincent. But this time he was not teasing him but his light engineer Jean-Martin who turned of the light too early Another song Mika started sitting on the piano was Yo-Yo. Mika mentioned that he has been invited for festivals in different countries but he cared a lot about being invited here in Cap Roig. He was very proud that his Spanish is much better than last year. During the song he saw in the audience a fan with the sign "I am your Catalan teacher". And he invited her on stage. I don't know her name but her face seems familiar to me. We skip to a different mood. Mika sings Happy Ending. This year I love hearing Mika in this song. As I already mentioned in another report for me he changed completely the context of the lyrics and now he sings it to his mum. And in Cap Roig he sang it in such emotional way.... I recorded the final part. Prepare your tissues, please. Grace Kelly starting with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star but quickly turned into the intro. At the end Mika thanks for being invited and sais "there is not two without three". So he hopes to be there for the third time. We Are Golden. People became ecstatic seeing Mika in a cape and the tiger head. Yo-Yo Remix. Crazy dancing on the stage with the band and the choir girls. Mika started to film us with his mobile. But I didn't find it on Instagram. He was coming back on stage twice After the show we were waiting for Mika for about one hour and a half. He didn't stop while leaving. I was able only to film his car disappearing in the dark. Some fans were very disappointed. I am so happy that I decided one week before the show to go to Cap Roig. I want to thank as well @catalana38 and Marie Helene who were so nice and invited me to stay with them in the same B&B. Thanks to them I was able as well to visit the place a little and to spend a lot of time walking along the coast and taking photos of the beautiful views. Overrated During Good Guys Mika went to the audience again. I had a beautiful view with Mika and the audience. It reminded me the view I had in Chieti. Mika mentioned the gig in Tarvisio where he was standing in the middle of the audience and he asked everybody to sit down to listen to two songs. He wanted to recreate the same here in Capo Roig. It was funny because at the beginning of the concert he promised to speak Spanish but then here he started to speak English. So he switched into Spanish. But I think he realized that it will be easier for him to explain things in English, so he got back to English again He said that only this guy standing next to him can't sit down as Mika took his place So he asked everybody to sit down, mentioning that first rows risk to get torticollis while sitting with their heads turned back. It looks like he changed the setlist as he mentioned that his band has no idea what song he wants to sing. So he showed it and I started to scream Underwater As usual we all had a great fun! Rain - I recorded only a beginning as Mika started to leave the audience and he ran on the stage. Next song was Live Your Life. Mika started to telling story about recording an Ice Cream video in Spain in winter and they had to pretend it was summer but they were freezing. And that he made a song that he doesn't sing in other countries only in Spain. And he was laughing that he has to recall the lyrics. Boum Boum Boum - just a short video. Lollipop. Improvisation at the beginning and playing with Vincent.
