The chances of finding a cheap hotel so central will be difficult. Most hotels are around £80 - £100+ per person for one night!!! yikes! You will probably have better luck looking for hotels or B&Bs a little further out such as Victoria, Russell Square, Paddington or Kings Cross areas.. (£20 - £60 per person night).. all a short bus ride/tube journey from Central London. Try http://www.visitlondon.com/ for starters

I'm a lucky Londoner so home will be a night bus ride for me.... where are you lovely non London MFCers going to stay? You guys should book into the same hotel! I started a thread similar to this topic with the link to Mika's dads pic a few months ago... (as well as threads about Miks siblings) but they were removed by Sunny... the reason? didn't want to get into trouble with Mika's people at the time. This was before things got crazy though...and I did kinda feel like a stalker once it was posted Still.. I guess respect Mika's family's privacy.. unless of course they come out into the public eye themselves.. like when Mika's sisters and mum go with him on tour and are present at signings and interviews!!.....

Seeing as both Mika and Ross share Luke Juby as their keyboardist AND I have already claimed him as my forum husband......I thought I'd mention him here as we are such a diverse community of music lovers!!! I do love them both equally!! Ross is a great new artist (I found through Luke's MySpace, Thanks Luke!!) I was at a Ross gig on Thursday 5th April in Soho, Guy Chambers (songwriter extraordinaire!) had to stand in because "Ross' keyboard player was busy 'mincing' around with Mika" Ross' new single 'All She Wrote' is out on digital release on April 30th and out in the shops on May 7th and his Debut Album 'Welcome to Reality' is out on May 14th. Well I wasn't aware that they were filming for MSN that night..and we were not told. I was well annoyed when a cameraman kept planting himself RIGHT IN FRONT of my view at the front row!!!... but it was worth it to see this footage again!

It was definately a rowdy noisy gig! It was great!!! the Lollipop finale was insane... I was right by the confetti cannons and couldn't hear much! IT doesnt really show that vibe on the clips as you can't really hear it all!! The gig was filmed professionally so they would have mixed in the instrumentals and vocals at levels above crowd noise. It was a really great night...people were noisy though Over My Shoulder - you can't hear it on the gig much.. but we were shushing people as we thought it was rude!!!!

The Student Life - Life and Style, The Oldest College Newspaper in Southern California: Est. 1889 by Sam Cook The Britons have given us some great music: The Beatles, Queen, Duran Duran, and Spice Girls (come on, I bet you have “Wannabe” in your iTunes playlist). Yet breaking into the 21st century, it started to seem that the British and American music scenes were diverging: the British rock and pop scenes started giving way to dance and techno, two types of music that Americans still have little appreciation for. Yet in the last few months, there has been a reason to again pay attention to our friends who drive on the left side of the road. Here are three British solo artists with very different roots and different sounds, all of them scheduled to perform at the Coachellatuis Valley Music Festival. Mika Mika has been holding his own in the British Top 40 charts, but many Americans are only just catching on to this commanding singer. Mika’s album, Life in Cartoon Motion, has been compared to other great frontmen including Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters and Freddie Mercury from Queen, and for good reason. Some of this similarity seems a bit too obvious and intentional. If “Big Girl (You are Beautiful)” seems similar to Queen’s “Fat-Bottomed Girls,” you’re right, and the lyrics are a dead giveaway: “You take your girl/And multiply her by four/Now a whole lotta woman/Needs a whole lot more.” A clear throwback to Queen. Some of Mika’s songs are a bit trite. Take for example, “My Interpretation”: “You talk about life/You talk about death/And everything in between/Like it’s nothing/And the words are easy,” Mika philosophizes. Mika’s ballads all feel similar and don’t move the listener. The one exception, “Happy Ending,” is particularly strong, but its Mika’s singing abilities, rather than his lyrics, that carry the songs. If you listen to the album, make sure to turn off your iPod before the hidden track buried in this song. There’s a reason it wasn’t listed on the back of the CD. To fully appreciate Mika’s vocal range and ability, check out his current hit “Grace Kelly” and rising hit “Love Today,” as well as the great “Lollipop” (catchy in a “Hollaback Girl” kind of way), and the medium paced “Relax, Take it Easy” and “Ring Ring.” The good songs on Mika’s album more than make up for his shortcomings, and I look forward to his growing popularity in the United States. Amy Winehouse At this point, you’ve probably heard the story of this British R&B and soul songstress from her hit song “Rehab,” which tells of how her old record label tried to force her to go to rehab (she said “no, no, no”). Somehow, all of Winehouse’s good songs ended up being on the odd numbered tracks: “Rehab,” “Me and Mr. Jones,” “Back to Black,” and “Tears Dry on Their Own” all stand out on Winehouse’s second album, Back to Black. Winehouse recently headlined one day of the legendary SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, and attracted many new listeners with her dynamic performance. Part of Winehouse’s draw is that she is so different from the typical pop songstress; she isn’t Britney Spears or Hilary Duff, or even Joss Stone, a fellow Briton. Winehouse commands her place on the stage with her seemingly disregard for appearance, even though she works out for hours a day, and makes it work. At some point, Winehouse will have to answer whether the US audience is ready for her music, but at this point she seems to be sitting pretty. Her album is currently the number one downloaded album on iTunes. Lily Allen Lily Allen is not Amy Winehouse, nor is she Mika. While all of them are rather outspoken, Allen is playful where Winehouse is deep and creative; Allen addresses the horrors of window shopping while Mika tackles body image. Lastly, Allen cannot sing. There is nothing wrong with Allen’s songs, per se, except that the listener is often left wanting more range and ability out of Allen as not just as a songwriter, but also as a singer. If Allen keeps up writing fun and original songs, there is no doubt that Allen will be courted as a songwriter, but if she wants to make it as both as the brains and the face, she will have to work to improve her singing skills and range.

The performance will be on the shop floor.. at the back on the stage on the ground floor. Chances are that if there are lots of people there early security will make them stand and 'queue' outside at a side entrance of the store(probably to avoid clogging up shop floor space). It probabably wont be a register or wristband event unless Mika is going to do any signings. If its just a performance then it will probably be a free for all! It's up to you what tactics you decide to use!!! Every fan for themselves!!! I guess best wait for further announcements nearer the time.. and/or try ringing the store (although HMV were absolutely rubbish last time.. no one knew anything!)

Ideally these events will be wristbanded if there is a planned signing like they did at FOPP back in Feb...first come first served. The performance will be free for all. The last time I tried to ask at HMV, several staff gave me different answers.. no one knew what was going on!! Just checked the announcement on mikasounds.com and it doesn't mention any signing.. so may just be an instore performance.

I shall try to get there!.... I know what to expect now from the last time Not seen Mika since KOKO....I plan on getting to the FRONT!

Mika in-store performance 24 April 04/04/2007 Mika will be making an in-store performance at HMV Oxford Street on Tuesday 24 April to help mark the release of new single 'Love Today'. The time of the appearance will probably be around 5.30/6.00pm although this will be confirmed nearer the time. As Mika's in-store performances tend to be very popular affairs, we advise anyone intending to go to get there as early as possible to avoid possible disappointment. The short version is - Mika was supposed to do instore performance and signing of LCIM.. but was only onstage for less then 20 mins and no signing. The event clashed with the T Mobile Street Gig so Mika had to rush off for that I got there at 2:30pm to get in line for the signing.. but it didnt happen Full stories in this thread
