  1. It was actually a bit scary to come to the front and say 'hello' especially after the second queue had formed, so I had to push through to get to you ... I had stood offering lollipops to people near us in the queue ... and only one person had taken one, eveyone else looked at me like I was a basket case . So I said I'm going to go and offer my friends a lollipop, they'll understand about lollipops and Mika gigs! My sister then thought I was mad, what friends, how do you know these people etc etc. Then I thought, stuff it, I'm just going to march up there and say 'Hello'. Glad I did, and glad you all had some lollies off me, cos the rest of them got confiscated when I went in.
  2. Yep that was Freddie and the MFC lot. It was a brilliant night. And glad to see that it has encouraged a few more people to start posting Fresh.
  3. hey Bexxy - now I know who you was I was up on the balcony on your side level with you, I had my fairy wand which I was waving around like a mad thing Actually I had expected that the wands would be confiscated, but I think cos my mum had one, the doorman didn't have the heart to confiscate from an 'old' lady!) I took some pictures of the crowd, may have you in them ... I will post them up later. Could definitely make out cathi's pink wig from where I was stood, and could see Freddie singing along all night!
  4. Yes, it was at the Barfly in Birmingham, that he mentioned after singing Stuck in the Middle that it was awful singing the first line of that song when his mum was in the room. It's in this thread There's an article about the meanings behind most of the lyrics on the album (in which Mika chose not to divulge the meaning of Stuck in the Middle) and then further discussion about the stuck in the middle and other lyrics.
  5. Dad's wouldn't understand. No way should you calm down, keep reliving every second!
  6. Yeah I made a point of telling lollipop girl too. I'm sure everyone that had had lollipops confiscated did. It was so mean
  7. Jennie - that's fantastic ... guess you won't be sleeping tonight!
  8. Just got home ... gig was fantastic! Didn't stay around to meet him afterwards, cos I was with my mum and sister and they wanted to get off, also it had been a long night for hop-a-long on one leg. Actually, Simon was really sweet and stood with me all night - not using his seat in the disabled area at all. Met loads of MFC in the queue - they had all got there early and were at the very front of the queue. But then annoyingly the venue decuded that they would sell more drinks if they did a promotion whereby if you bought a drink from the bar academy you got your ticket stamped and got to go in first. No one bothered to tell the guys at the front, then suddenly there's this whole extra queue formed alongside them of people who have only just arrived. Not fair at all. We stood up on the balcony, and I could see from where we were that the rest of the guys had managed to get a spot in the middle a few rows from the front. Not fair though, they were at the front of the queue and should have been at the very front. I took a few pictures, but not many, was not really in a very good spot for getting any decent pictures. Will post them up tomorrow. Oh and the horrid doormen took my lollipops off me Mika said that he had heard that people had had their lollipops confiscated and that it was mean of them . Just shows what stupid kneejerk decisions these muppets make sometimes. It was quite funny when he asked me to open the tub to see what was in, I showed him and then he didn't know whether to let them in or not. They must have found it quite bizarre - loads of people turning up to a gig with lollies
  9. I'm so excited! Got half an hour left at work, then dashing home to get ready before heading off to Birmingham. Meeting my Mum and sister in the queue - hope to be there by 6.30pm. Been out at lunch time and bought some pink fluffy heart headbands and some pink heart wands. Also got a tub of lollipops to share with all my new friends! Steph - so sorry to hear that you are tucked at home poorly ... actually sorry isn't nearly enough ... I'm gutted for you Anyway best look busy ... been parading round the office in my headband already ... my boss thinks I'm mad
  10. Yeah! and I can't wait to meet you all. Kata, please don't worry Brum will be fine... Brummies are all friendly and lovely (but then I am biased).
  11. Don't know about the Barrowland but a lot of the standing venues do have small areas for wheelchairs. But it seems to be a mixed bag. My other half has broken his foot and is on crutches. For the Birmingham Academy it was just a case of ringing to book him a space in the viewing area. Luckily for us there is a space available (plus a seat for a 'carer' too ... which had Simon been registered disabled, we could have had a free ticket for the carer ). We also have standing tickets for Wolverhampton Civic Hall to see Pet Shop Boys next week, and when I phoned there I was advised that they have an area for wheelchairs but it has a really restricted view. We've certainly being seeing the world differently these past couple of weeks ... and it ain't much fun
  12. Also, they won't ever want to appear to back down - so as soon as they have made a decision, no matter how wrong and misguided that decision may be, they won't ever change their mind. Even though it would have become apparent from talking to you all that you were not drunk and not out to cause any trouble, they were never going to admit they could possibly have made an error. That's how a lot of people in uniform exert authority, and (imho) it's wrong:thumbdown:
  13. Thanks Jennie - that's what I thought too. The Academy were really helpful. Unlike Wolves Civic Hall (we also have tickets to see Pet Shop Boys on 25 May) who have said that they have seats in the disabled area - but their disabled area is a really restricted view and they wouldn't recommend it . Their advice, since he is on crutches, is to stand at the back! He's been told not to put any weight through his foot at all ... so standing on one leg even with crutches for any length of time is simply not an option:thumbdown:. PSB gig anyone?
  14. No need to be worried Steph - the drive in'll be fine. Do you know where you're staying yet?
  15. Should have got a pirate outfit for hop-a-long! I phoned the Academy today and have booked him a seat in the disabled area. But we still can't agree which of us will sit with him
  16. Jennie - it all sounds brilliant I haven't got anything ... didn't even get round to getting a flashing heart. I will be wearing the t-shirt I bought from the Barfly gig ... but that's it.
  17. I still eat meat but will only eat it when it is free range, organic and local. So this means that I am a veggie when eating out, having takeaways or ready meals! I also won't eat cod and other endangered fish (unless it's farmed) so meals from the chippy have become incredibly restrictive!
  18. Don't think of it as one month, think of it as just 31 days ... and it's already the 9th here, so that's 30 days! (or is using different time zones cheating )
  19. :roftl: :roftl: I like your thinking ... but I'm in enough trouble already for not showing any sympathy! My initial response when he was rolling on the floor in agony saying, "I've broke my foot!" was, "don't be so stupid of course you haven't broken your foot. Can you move it? Yes? Well it's not broken then is it?" Other downside is that I will have to drive there and back, so I can't have a drink either
  20. Yes, it is all standing, but there's a tiny disabled section on the balcony for wheelchairs and chairs. But I don't want to sit down ... I want to stand
  21. I have to find out about disabled seating ... my other half has broken his foot - he will be in plaster for 6 weeks and when we went back to the fracture clinic today they have advised that he must not put any weight on it at all for the next four weeks I suggested that if I find out about seats that perhaps my mum could be his 'carer' for the evening and have a seat with him. She was most indignant and told me she wanted to stand and dance! So looks like I'll have to sit with him (unless I make him sit on his own ) At least it will make us easy to spot ... I'll be the one with the eejit on crutches
  22. mansize (as in tissues)
  23. Have you seen how much a copy of the Dodgy Holiday EP is going for on E-bay  Anyone going to admit to bidding?
