  1. Thanks to everyone for all you are doing. As well as voting for Mika as best pop act, please also vote for this site in the people's choice category (best unofficial music site). THANK YOU
  2. You heard it hear first ... exactly why this should be the official site. Please vote for the site too!
  3. Please see my thread on the Digital Music Awards. We can all vote for this site in the best unofficial music site category. Surely if it were to win a prestigious award such as this the record company will have to take notice? Everyone has one vote in each category everyday until 30th September ... please vote (oh an don't forget to vote for Mika as best pop artist too:wink2:)
  4. Not sure if this has been posted anywhere else, apologies if it has did a quick search but couldn't find any mention. The BT Digital Music Awards are now open for voting and there are two categories that we will all need to vote in. 1. Mika is nominated for Best Pop Artist 2. The People's Choice Award "This award is for anyone who has created a music site or blog, meaning that, much like you lot, the entries will range from the big and glamourous to the small but perfectly formed." So we can all vote for this site - and win an award for sunny monkey Against the People's award - it also states "or if you have your own entry, you can nominate it here. We'll give you a nice shiny official voting button to put on your site or blog and then it's up to you to get your users to vote for you before voting closes on September 30th. Get voting now!" So could one of the admin folk sort out getting a voting button put on this site - so we can all vote for it as best unofficial Music Site more easily? Oh yeah, nearly forgot - you do the voting at www.btdma.com Also forgot - you are allowed to vote everyday up to 30 September ... so please can we all vote everyday?!!
  5. Wow ... thanks for posting this. I had no idea there were plans to televise this gig.
  6. Got the 7" and 12" from HMV in Northampton, but they had no cds. Got the CD from Virgin (who had no vinyl!), though did manage to pick up a 12" of Love Today Unusually for HMV the 7" was cheaper in-store than online. £1.99 rather than £2.99 ... worth knowing for anyone who can get to a HMV store, I realise not everyone can.
  7. No sorry ... They only showed Big Girl and Grace Kelly. You could hear him performing Love Today whilst they were interviewing Natasha Bedingfield
  8. Excellent point. If Patrick really meant what he said then he lacks principles. Why accept the gig? Also, why agree to remix Love Today and put his name to one of Mika's compositions? How many faces do you have Patrick? ... at least two
  9. But that is one of the good things about the Mercury Prize it isn't about popularity. I'm hoping Maps wins it. Maps is James Chapman from Northampton (where I'm from hence why I've heard of him). He really is very good. His MySpace page is mapsmusic ... if you like electronica I'd urge you to have a listen. Hopefully this nomination will bring his music to a wider audience ... he deserves it. And I'm disappointed that the nomination was announced before I had had chance to get tickets to his exclusive gig next week and now they're all sold out
  10. Yeah, he's definitely referring to you and Yuppymunch - you two were on the screens quite a bit! Goldilocks indeed ... I mean if it was Goldilocks surely you would have 3 bears and some bowls of porridge with you? :roftl: With the obsession that they all seem to have that everything was based on Alice in Wonderland, it's a surprise they hadn't labelled you as Alice
  11. Yes, I wish I'd had the confidence to go up to more people and say hello. I will try harder next time. It would be good if we had an MFC banner that we could all meet up by. The flashing hearts are good identifiers, but not everyone has them. I also get embarrassed cos we are never at the front of the queue so I feel guilty standing with guys at the front of the queue for too long cos I feel like I'm getting daggered looks from people behind who (wrongly) assume that I am going to push in the queue. Also, I wish I'd had more confidence to go across to talk to Jennie, Sara, Jules etc over the other side ... sorry if it looked like I was ignoring you - I wasn't ... I'm just a bit shy Yeah - I've got exactly the same problem ... keep getting not authorised messages. Then I managed to get it to download, but can only get the sound not the pictures, and since I can't have the sound on at work that's pretty useless I'll play it at home later. If there are any more crowd shots I'd love to see them. There's a few where I've worked out that I'm just off the opicture, so none of me yet (but maybe that's a good thing!
  12. I was disappointed that Holy Johnny had been dropped
  13. Why have all the reviewers got some obsession that it's Alice in Wonderland? Lollipop Girl is not Alice and Mika dressed as a Ringmaster at the end not the Mad Hatter (Mika is a perfectionist ... if he intended to be the Mad Hatter he wouldn't have forgotten an important detail like having a 10/6 sales sticker on his top hat )
  14. You missed a trick there ... when Mika asked if you were Ok, you should have said, "no - it needs a kiss better!"
  15. Yeah he mentioned last night about waiting tables at somerset House. He did it for a Lord Mayor's do and says he got asked to leave ... for spilling champagne
  16. Kata - have you done a u turn on Patrick Wolf? At the weekend you said his music sucks
  17. Surprised there aren't more reports on here yet. But here's mine ... We only decided to get tickets on Thursday - came up on e-bay at less than face value (sorry BG & HJ!) so decided to risk it even though they were e-tickets. Cos we were so late couldn't get the day off work, but managed to leave at 2.30pm. Drove down to Wembley Park and then got the tube in. I wanted to get in the queue straight away, but Simon insisted we got something proper to eat, so found a pasta place along the Strand ... I ate very quickly! 'No, no desserts, no coffees ... just the bill!' Got to the venue about 6.30 pm. I thought the queues would be massive by that time, but they weren't too bad at all. There were two queues - one to the left and one to the right, we were sent over to the left hand queue, so I didn't get to meet anyone over on the right (could see Sara over there). I recognised Kata from Birmingham and said hello. Also met up with Christel (TTel) (was great to meet you thanks for sending me your number). Christel introduced me to some others from here … but sorry can’t remember all the names. As others have said, loads of entertainment whilst we were queuing, jugglers, stilt walkers … oh and not forgetting Mika’s sound checks! They didn’t let us in until around 8.45 pm … I was really nervous when they scanned our tickets, the first one was fine, but the second one made the wrong noise … but then she scanned it again, and it was fine – yeah we were in. Headed straight down to the stage, ended up about 6 rows back. Much better spot than I dreamed we’d get. Only disappointment was that I didn't have my camera with me (cos someone had lent it to his brother to take boring pictures of an airshow ) so no pics from me I'm afraid. Patrick Wolf was excellent – enjoyed his performance a lot. And as for Mika …. well he just keeps on getting better! Loved it all, but especially Love Today … I thought his cover of ‘You’ve got the Love’ worked better than the Jackson's ‘ Want you Back’ that he had performed previously. Was good to hear ‘Over My Shoulder’ again, but lots of people talking through it again, personally, mush I as I love to hear it performed, I don’t think it will ever work live … it’s definitely an album track only. Mika thanked everyone for dressing up (though I was disappointed that more people hadn’t). What else … oh yes, just before ‘Grace Kelly’ Mika said how they had, had problems over the last few weeks, but he recognised quite a few of us, and pointed down where a lot of the MFCers were standing, and said that he didn’t want to let us down and this was one gig he had been determined would go ahead (or words to that effect). Didn’t get to stay around afterwards so missed saying bye to people (or meeting Mika) as we had a long drive up the M1 – turned out to be a long time sitting parked on the M1 … not fun at 1 o’clock in the morning! Finally crawled into bed at 2 am … sorry didn’t have the energy to switch on the computer when I got in! All in all the best gig yet! Glad I got to be there. Great to meet some more MFcers … even if only briefly. And also spent the evening with some wonderful Mika virgins … who I’m sure will be buying tickets today for November’s gigs … hello Adrienne and Adam if you’re reading!
  18. Thanks for the report Jennie - really useful . I'm less worried now about not being in the queue until after 6 pm. I accept that I can't be right at the front, but I don't want to end up too far back! See you all later (should be able to leave work in about an hour and a half!)
  19. Wow ... Orlando Bloom, Patrick Wolf and Mika all in one day ... you lucky, lucky girl Hey Steph will be good to meet you - after you having to miss B'ham I think I might miss you though cos no doubt you will be much farther forward than me. Other half reckons I have been too optimistic when I said 6 pm and says I haven't factored in any eating time. He wasn't very impressed when I asked how long he thought it would take to grab a Macky D's to eat in the Q? So we may be even later than I thought. I am going to push my luck and see if I can leave work at 2.30 pm or even 2 pm, but even then I ain't gonna make the queue before 6 pm, cos even if we get to London earlier than planned, I'll be made to eat something proper (I keep telling him I'll be too excited to eat ).
  20. Placed my order on Thursday night - flashing hearts waiting at work for me today ... excellent delivery time (even with the postal strike). Great service from the glow company ... and thanks again babs for organising a discount
  21. Becky that doesn't sound good I'll keep my fingers crossed for you
