Had totally missed this thread I am coming to Birmingham too - please add me to the list There will be 5 of us; Me Mr Max my sister her hubby and my Mum!! I also have a ticket going spare. My sister and Mum live in Birmingham, but I will be driving over from Northampton and have to work on Thursday and Friday, so can't stay over. Also, and this is a problem to me (though everyone else in my family reckon it's not an issue). I won't be able to get there much before 6 pm As I've posted in the Academy thread we've decided it will not be fair on my mum to try to get to the front, and will also be a long time to stand without anything to lean against. So we are going to head straight up to the balcony. However I would still love to meet up with everyone at some point - what is it I need to get to make sure you will recognise us - flashing hearts? Steph - if you are coming up to Birmingham from the South you can get off the motorway south of Birmingham and avoid Spaghetti. Which way do the route planners send you? I'll have a look at the maps and see which way I would do it and pm you a route. The problem I have is I'm not very good at driving actually in the city centre anymore - I moved away about ten years ago and it's all changed

I was a fan of the Proclaimers in the 80's. Then they droped off my radar until last year when my sister dragged me along to see them at a small gig at the MAC in Birmingham. They were still fantastic ... if not better than ever. I bought tickets last month to see them when they tour in October, and can't wait for their new album to come out It's kind of weird that shortly after I rediscover them the rest of the country does to (thanks to Peter Kaye and Matt Lucas)

Is there any kind of pre-meet being arranged for the Birmingham gig on the 17th? I can't make Leeds but would to meet some of the people from here who are going to the Academy.

So have we manage to convince anyone else how great the gig in Brum is going to be? If so don't forget I have a spare ticket <shameless promoting>

I promise I'l make my Mum behave up on the balcony I heard all the rumours about the Academy too ... but it was fine two weeks ago when we went to see Barenaked Ladies. I think it depends on the type of audience attending an event. That said the floor was fairly sticky by the end ... would definitely recommend you don't wear your best shoes!

Yes age is a strange concept isn't it? On here she'd be positively ancient ... I'm an olderling at 37 My mum has been really worried about coming. She feels that she will ruin our enjoyment because we have said we will stand on the balcony if she comes with us whereas normally I'd want to be near the front downstairs. But I think even if Mum wasn't coming I'd stand up on the balcony now anyway. I saw Mika close up at the Barfly in February - so I'm happy with that.

She's only 65 ... just realised I made her sound like we are fetching her out of the retirement home for the day

There's a group of us going to the Academy on 17th, but a couple of people dropped out. My Mum has decided to take one of the tickets (even though she's worried she's going to be the oldest person in the place ... and she probably will be ) But this leaves one ticket spare and no one to take it . I've therefore put it on fleabay but as the description says - I'm not looking to make a profit, I just want to get my money back that I've paid out. I would really like to make sure a fan gets the ticket, so if anyone here is interested please get in touch.
