  1. Oh Gata, I wish I could agree with you...granted I don't appreciate Radioheads talent...I find they're music terribly depressing, whiney even...ok I am risking your wrath...but before you respond: I have had to listen to them more then once!!! So my opinion is based on evidence...
  2. Oh dear...this is perhaps the worst rendition of Teardrop....oh well you can't be good at everything...
  3. Wasn't it 4 worldmusic awards...??? Its great that his wide range of style is commented on- A very positive review:thumb_yello:
  4. Oh wow! That is so cool . Now that's what I call appreciation of Fans... (Avoca and co.'s shirt will be in there...)
  5. Thanks for the links...I loved watching them. They brought back memories of how Mika can "really" sing and not just run around in a frenzy screaming at the top of his lungs! Just out of interest: How many nominations did Hard-Fi get? ummm...not even one:mf_rosetinted: ...and Mika got how many?...Really, four..??!! That says it all, doesn't it...?
  6. I was trying to find the "politest" way of saying this: but Gatagordinha you say it best! The original is untouchable and perfect I don't think anyone else can come close to it, even Newton Faulkner (although his is better then Mika's- I agree)....so no I don't like Mika's vocals on Teardrop, just the musical arrangement.
  7. It isn't a cover... but incorporates the single by The Cutting Crew- (I just) Died in yours arms
  8. I prefer Jeff Buckley's version:wink2:
  9. I suppose it can't be helped though... I'm sorry we didn't get to see you either Babs! The last time we met was at Somerset House...we did look out for you in the crowd though.
  10. Yes, its a shame! There wasn't a very good feeling there every time his name was mentioned...booing etc:thumbdown: ... but if you're ill you're ill. One more thing- the replacements acts were nothing compared to Mika and I missed him terribly. (Tom Baxter and Amy McDonald no offense:wink2: )
  11. Newton is something else all together! Absolutely nothing to look at...really its a strange experience!....but he is so talented its unbelievable- its just him and a guitar making so many different noises, it sounded as if he had a whole band there. Not only contended with being a singer/song writer/musician he's also a stand up comedian. I strongly recommend seeing him live. Miss F did enjoy it all...but sadly she was ill and had to leave early.
  12. They were VERY quirky. The lead singer had a bright red jacket on- I suppose the difference there was that whilst Mika's clothes seem tailored his weren't, however it still looked good. I should point out here that he is very short- I'm only 5ft, but he seemed shorter then that!! Ummm...there were other similarities: before they appeared on stage they had they "spaced out" music going for a while before they all came out onto stage They had 2 fur-covered robotlike figures with computerised images for faces that changed expressions throughout their songs two trumpeteers (Billy Brown??) dressed in skeleton costumes (interesting... )I fail to remember his name, but the lead singer has a fantastic voice- its different in that it isn't falsetto and just melodic I suppose. I must admit I did enjoy their performance, but these are some of the things that stood out for me- as perhaps mimicking Mika??? I am bias so you can't take my word for it:wink2:
  13. Sadly Mika wasn't there...... The artists appeared in the reverse order that is shown in the poster. To be honest I had expected Mika's name to appear but crossed out ...but I suppose Radio2 are professionals and have their contacts:bleh: Anyway I don't know if its appropiate to talk about the gig since Mika wasn't performing....should I? One thing I will say is that the venue is fantastic, the acts were good some were very good- i.e. Newton Faulkner and The Hoosiers...I now understand what Mika means by the "copying"- it seems that it isn't just having their fans dress up!!
  14. Oh well thats a shame I was looking forward to seeing him BUT... Mika should rest, his health comes first:thumb_yello: I'm still going to see the other acts though; my friend has seen Newton Faulkner play before and recommends it- and I want to see the Hoosiers.
  15. Mika did say last night that 3 of the band members have been in bed the past few days... but something is confusing me; What on earth is he and the band doing in the venue if this decision was made this morning:boxed:...he shouldn't be there at all!!!
  16. I think I read on their website that it will be shown on TV- plus it will be available through the red button feature...so Babs- get your glad rags on!!!
  17. I'm going to disagree with you there. Its not as if Mika invented "Dress-up" now is it? At the Prince gigs we were told to "wear purple"- I don't know much about David Bowie, but I believe he had the same sort of "dress-ups" going as well. It isn't fair to say that they are copying Mika if the idea itself isn't original. Now if Mika wanted to patent something of his own- then so be it i.e. lollipop girl, big girl etc...but I don't see that happening. Why not stay as it is?? An idea, apparently, borne totally out of Mika's control (refer to TBA interview and Somerset House) and something that belongs to the fans. Or if he wanted to like he always has done, and not admitted to it, state on the tickets as a pre-requisite what the theme for the dress up should be?? It seems to be the "~controlling hand" that's going a bit too far- IMHO
