  1. Just want to say how lovely it was to see some of the MFCers whom I have come to know only through shared "Mikaxperiences." Perhaps next NYC show I'll be in the front row with you!
  2. Hey all at Webster Hall! Is there a big crowd? Anyone selling tix outside the venue? I was out of town & just got back. Can't decide if I'm too tired to go tonight!
  3. Dear Charlotte: Lately I haven't been on the MFC as much as I used to be, but I got on a few moments ago and saw that it's your birthday and I just had to wish you many happy returns of the day and best wishes for a wonderful year!

  4. Holly! Would you believe that I just saw your message from May tonight? -- more than 4 months later? I just haven't thought to check this page. I haven't been on the MFC much lately as I've been working more. I still feel a little bad about missing that last NYC show! Would've loved to have seen you on stage! I can't believe that was almost a year ago...

    How are you?

    Best wishes,

    Joanne

  5. Vero: I missed the last NYC show so I haven't seen you in person in a while...I thought I saw something on the MFC from which I inferred you were pregnant...and now 100% confirmation! I wish you and the new family you have created all the best! It's a cliche, but it's also true -- your life will never be the same! The days can be long, but the time is short -- there are a lot of new experiences awaiting you. If I didn't have a daughter, perhaps I still wouldn't know who Mika is! Congratulations, oh, and try to sleep whenever the baby does! All the best, Joanne
  6. Titty -- just want to wish you all the best for 2010! I regret that I did not talk with you more at Le Poisson Rouge. Hope you and your family are well.

  7. Holly, I'm sending you all the best! I just saw this thread for the first time. It's lovely of your daughter to care for and post for you! Hope this is not a physical manifestation of "post-Mika depression!" Wishing you a speedy recovery... Joanne
  8. Thanks for posting such great reports everyone! So glad that Mom4Mika's dream came true! I was worried that reading this thread would make me green with envy, but instead, I feel as though I've experienced it vicariously with everyone. And I had a great visit with my cousins who were visiting from overseas. Sometimes, you have to put family first -- but I don't know if I'll do that again!!!
  9. Jamie: You look great! Have a wonderful time tonight. See you at the next NY show. --Joanne
  10. Hi Heather! Enjoy the show! I'll see you at the next one...
  11. Hi to everyone going to the NYC show! I did not have the heart to change my RSVP status in the other thread, but I decided a few days ago not to go to the show because of some family obligations I have. Having seen Mika at GMA is helping me get through this! If I have the time, I might try to stop by the meetup just to say hello to everyone. If I don't make it, I wish all of you a fabulous time! I apologize for the awful weather we're having. Usually October is quite nice. All the best, Joanne
  12. I don't have much to add to the other reports here. It was a lovely morning! I arrived, sleepy, at about 5AM but tried to sound cheery as I said "Good morning ladies" to Lucy and Natalie. And I was very happy to see them there for another Mikasperience. It was great to see Jack again and to meet Rilo. I have to say that it was not as much fun in terms of the show as Mika's GMA appearance in summer 2007. At that time, at least some of the audience members were allowed into the studio for Mika's rehearsal and that was great. At that time, Mika also performed two songs, more "bumpers," and took lots of time to sign things and talk to some of us. Immediately after the 2007 appearance, though, audience members were forced to leave very quickly. I saw the same surly security guard this morning, but this time we were all allowed to take a picture with Mika. That was very nice.
  13. Thanks for posting. For the outdoor shows, they don't do tickets and I also did not realize that they have them at all. I don't recall tickets ever being mentioned on the air. They might require more time for "processing," but we'll see what happens. I was so fortunate to be the third person on the VIP line last time, but I don't have that connection anymore.
  14. Holly: I just got on this thread for the first time -- El Malecon is the restaurant I mentioned in my post on the N. American Tour thread. I just couldn't remember the name. Then my husband reminded me that it is directly across the street from the theatre (has anyone mentioned that the theatre is also Rev. Ike's church? -- at least it used to be and I think it still is on Sundays anyway). It's a great choice. The food is delicious and portions are huge. I'll try to make it to the dinner. I probably won't be sure if I can until the beginning of October.
  15. I really enjoyed being a "consecutive number" with you and Vero! Wish I could come up to Montreal for the show there too! Mika and smoked meat -- mmm...fabulous! If I had no obligations and unlimited funds, I would.
  16. There is so much "finagling" with online ticket buying today! I'm sure an enormous number of these tickets are not being bought by fans, but rather for resale -- many of them probably for Ticketmaster's own resale site!
  17. If I can, I'll be there. I've eaten at a large Latin restaurant that was good way uptown and I believe it was pretty near the venue. I'll have to look it up. That might be a good meeting place. There is a chance that I might have to be away at that time; though I'm hoping to be here. I also think that cousins of mine from Hamburg might be planning to visit NYC that weekend, so I have some sorting to do. I'll be in touch...
  18. Hey Deb! Didn't see your message until after I'd posted my reply to Holly. After Sariflor's post, I'm feeling optimistic! Hope to see you in NYC -- and talk to you more this time... Joanne
  19. I think you're right, Holly. At the shows I've been to, most of the people around me have been from outside the city. One of the best things about living in NYC is that everyone passes through here at some point! I wish Mika would do a show in New Orleans -- even just as an excuse to visit. I think he'd love the unique culture down there.
  20. Sandbag said on the site that tickets will be assigned after the presale ends. I'm concerned too! I hope we won't be getting leftovers from the AMEX presale. I was on the Ticketmaster site at 10AM yesterday for the American Express presale, but the best seats were set aside for only certain types of AMEX cards. With my card, the best seats I could get were 29th row. I didn't buy them, deciding instead to gamble and see what I'd come up with on the MFC presale. My hope is that Mika's "people" were able to set aside some decent seats for the MFC presale -- perhaps it's just wishful thinking... Now I'm not even 100 percent certain I'll be in town then. I might have to travel to Chicago at the time of the NYC show. I have to be Chicago in October, but I couldn't time it to coincide with Mika's show there. Frustrating!
  21. I've been wanting to post again all day about yesterday's "Mikasperience" but my husband and two teenagers have been around rolling their eyes at me for just wanting to do so! They think it's terribly immature!!! In the meantime, there have been many fantastic descriptions of the show, so there's not much left for me to say except to repeat that it was GREAT. It was fantastic to see so many MFCers that I recognized from earlier shows, including DC Deb, Titty, lovelovemika, JackViolet, Holly. It was great being right behind Vero and Dani on the line, sticking with them through the melee of entering the venue's main space! It was fun to meet people I've only seen "on line" too -- Suzy (thanks for keeping the list), Sivan, Sariflor, Kath, Christine, Mana, foalbaby, and thank you musicfreak for helping me with my charm bracelet! Standardtoaster deserves a lot of appreciation for his "crowd control" efforts. I was standing front and center just behind Jack and -- unless I'm totally oblivious -- the other audience members nearby seemed pretty well-behaved. Well, there was a little touching of Mika's hair to the right of us... Unlike at Terminal 5 (where I thought it was terrifying), the stage invasion was fun because the stage was so low and there were no barriers. Even a short, middle-aged woman like me could get up there without difficulty and I was shocked to find myself literally right behind Mika, at times having to grab his waist for support! That was the moment when I felt awful about the age restriction for the show because I wish I could have shared it with my 16-year-old daughter who turned me on to Mika in the first place. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the next NYC show!
  22. I'm impressed with Sariflor's report -- I couldn't have written a single word when I came in last night! Mika's performance was fantastic and, as always, the long hours waiting at the venue were made so much more bearable by the MFC. To those who asked, IDs were checked so that people under 21 would not be able to get alcohol. I honestly don't know if they would have actually turned someone away who was just shy of 18. Employees of the venue told me (I don't know how reliably) that they would have been OK with all ages or at least accompanied by a parent, but that this was Mika's decision.
  23. Sounds good! I don't have an exact arrival time in mind yet -- I'll probably go to the venue when I can't focus on anything else! I'll try to be helpful!
  24. I think I'll be fine by then. We'll need to be strong because we're going to have to help the LPR people handle this show. lol...I was actually there a few weeks ago for another show and talked to some of the staff who had no idea what they're in for when Mika plays there. What I do know is that when there is a line at LPR, there is just one line for will call and ticket holders -- they have someone working the line while you wait, so that's easy. But I don't know if they have ever handled as many people as this show is likely to bring in. I am hoping pandemonium won't break out!
