Methinks that the Love Today video was as fruity as an orchard.
I believe that they are all the time trying to hide -from themselves first and foremost- that they are insane.
If they were trying to hide their own mistakes, it would mean that they are aware of being wrong once in a while. Nah, they probably see it as 'not wanting to upset less lucid MFCers'.
Glad to see you no longer whine 'I'll miss you... it was beginning to feel as if you had ESP and saw one of my planes crashing while crossing the pond.

There was a short TV show by the Monty Pythons called 'How to horripilate...' which gave lessons about how to get people's goats by being particularly obnoxious. Seing that he has -or rather had as he has moved out- one pinned up above his bed, nothing surprising there . If he wants to put the flag above his four poster when he has moved over to the Forêt de Fontainebleau area, he has my heartfelt blessing. He demands to be considered as a Brit, which he is about as much as pistachio nut and honey cakes, but if he enjoys living in denial, let him, poor baby , he is not the only one . Confident about your own sexuality ? That sounds defensive. Hope one day -soon- you'll be comfortable about it. As I am.
When you start thinking that 'gay' is a compliment, it strongly smells of bigotry -and gay people can be as big bigots as straight ones, if you haven't realised that yet, you should look around and listen and watch. Intolerance is not located below the belt but in the mind.
And anyway I wasn't reacting to the oh-so-thrilling issue of Sire's sexual orientation, but to your VM to Laura, which was at the same time patronising and wrong, semantically speaking .
If my VM to you sounded patronising too, perhaps it's a catching disease, although I can be pretty dogmatic too

Ask Niki to make sure but :
- 'camp' or 'metrosexual' expresses a way of moving, dressing, speaking, which has nothing to do with sexual orientation, straight men can be awfully fruity -or camp-, gay ones quite manly ;
- 'gay' means homosexual, that is to say, and to make matters clear, being attracted by and having sex with people of your own gender, it has everything to do with S. O.
So beware : when you're spending some time in an English speaking country, avoid telling a guy that you are gay unless you actually are quite sure that you fancy men, or you might have an unpleasant surprise, ie, being beaten up by a poof basher or getting lucky with a fairy

I skipped the last ten pages of this thread because I have a busy life at the moment and anyway I wanted to make a candid statement, independently from other opinions : The video : a masterpiece. With few means, probably reasonably cheap but as effective as MJ's Black or White one without needing to mortgage number 10 to make it . As for his coming out with it ? To the people who, being girls are confident they'll be the first to turn him , the gay guys who've been since they first set eyes on him and the straight ones who think that, given Sire's laser beam size, it shouldn't be too painful ... one question and one statement : If he's just gone out on video, what the heck was he doing in the Love Today one, macramé ? If all gawky adolescents who, half-naked in their room, dance in a particularly silly way to the sound of their fave album were gay, reproduction of the species might become an issue and our planet would soon be much less crowded . Sire is a genius, albeit an horripilating man, he does what he sees fit with his family jewels -not the ones he borrows from his aunties and mum - and he probably wees himself when he realises how well he can confuse issues with a little help from his faithful fans' tendency to live in denial .
