This quote is from the No Place In Heaven song discussion thread:
I don't have the physical copy either. I was hoping someone might scan the booklet so we could see the credits. But I guess we just have to wait a few more days.
I've made pictures of the credits in the booklet, thought I'd post them here. Don't really know where else to post them.

The album is currently #22 in the Dutch iTunes chart, this morning it was #37. Seems like it's climbing!
And I saw that on the official Dutch Charts site (http://www.dutchcharts.nl/) they're promoting No Place In Heaven as a tip!

I totally agree with you. Can't believe they didn't make this one a single.
Maybe he could pull a Taylor Swift, who made a bonus track from her third album a single because it was a fan favourite. We should let him know how we feel about this song!

Hi and welcome here! Such a nice introduction
I'm so glad that Mika's music has been able to help you in that way.
And I really hope he is going to do proper gigs in the UK soon!
Once again, welcome to the MFC and I hope you'll like it here

His pronunciation is weird at times. Even in Good Wife when he says ''two seater sofa'' I keep hearing ''sofar''
Yeah the (British?) "r" after every A... I've heard it quite often with "idear" too, my English teacher would always say that, though she has an Australian accent.
But as far as I'm concerned his pronounciation has always been a bit odd

OK. That makes more sense to me, and that's what I thought it SHOULD be, but I hear a V sound in there. But if it says you & I in the lyrics booklet, I'll go with that!
I've been listening to it and I think that V sound is because he first sings "You" in his chest voice with a lot of air, which also makes it sounds more like "shu" (less so than what he did in Heroes, "shu blood on me", but still a little), and then he continues in falsetto with "and I" and I think that transition between airy chest voice and falsetto is what you hear. Perhaps he even pronounces a tiny V or W like "You-w-and I", either to make that transition smoother or to chain the words together to make it sound more flowy.
Or I'm just over-analyzing things

I think he actually mentioned his brother in discussing this song so I think you're right.
On the language question...I think (hypothetically) you could also mean you want the son you have to have different qualities. It's projection. This is the son I have and I am just going to - either through pressure or delusion - make him into the person I want. In another time and place Mika could have been the son that she wants by getting married and having children, etc.
I think in this particular case though Mika may be referring to a second son that will fulfill all her specifications for the ideal son because what Mika has to offer isn't what she values in a son. But I am guessing that based on what he has said rather than the actual lyrics.
And just for the record I don't think any of this is really true. I think it's just a child's twisted perception (brought on by religious conditioning) and fear of disappointing his parents. I also find it hard to believe that Mika was ever stuck in the middle. Unless, by "middle", he means being the centre of everyone's world.
Perhaps quite literally, "the middle child"
I interpreted "another son" as Mika, but a Mika that's happy with his trophy wife and that wants kids etcetera.. But yes in my interpretation, this basically is his fear, or was his fear before coming out to his family, not reality, Mika doesn't have a wife that he wants to leave anyway, or had one once (at least... that we know of )

I've always heard something REALLY inappropriate at the end of the first verse of Blue Eyes. I won't say what it is, but you can probably tell what I'm talking about... Ahaha...
I hear that too, I sometimes wonder if he pronounced it that ambiguously on purpose
To stay on topic, my first time hearing the lyrics I felt like it didn't quite move me as I personally am not religious, but later I found myself crying while listening to it. He makes the topic approachable and relatable for anyone. I love the piano and melody as well. I feel like I'm saying that about basically every song on the album, but it's true.

I HAVE to be at that gig when he will sing this song. (Will he?)
It's only a bonustrack, so we probably won't know until and if he does it... but I HAVE to be there with you!

Aren't those low notes quite similar, in tone, to the ones in Big Girl? The very last sentence, I mean? He always sang that live, right?
The tone of the voice sounds different from what he usually sounds like, besides that part in Big Girl, but the pronounciation and the way of singing (also in Oh Girl, You're The Devil) do sound like him. I think he can sing it live.

I've noticed that I turn up the volume big time when this comes on, I think right now it's my favourite

Aw beautiful song! I agree with Manon, it sounds fragile, couldn't have found a better word. Just one thing... what does this line mean?
'Cause you've an eyeWe're one of a kindI thought it was'Cause you and Iwe're one of a kindIt is. "You and I were one of a kind"

I'm hearing "jumps out of the closet at first no parachute"
You're almost right: "Jumps out of the closet head first no parachute"
This song is.. different But I reaaally like it

I think he's seen our desperate attempts at understanding him and has decided to make life a little easier for us
Well, I'm glad all the lyrics are in the booklet. I always appreciate that.

I now hear "It's just what I was hurled" ..?
Just received the physical album and it has all the lyrics in the booklet, and it says "It's just what I was hurled" as well

This song.. really hurts
So beautiful. Definitely like a pearl in this album (one of the many pearls though, I have to admit).

I found this tiny "review" in the newspaper (Noordhollands Dagblad) we have at home (all of their cd reviews are this small). Didn't know where else to post it.
Translation:
"Michael Holbrook Penniman (31, mixed Lebanese-English origins), aka Mika, himself says that he is influenced by David Bowie and Mark Bolan. When he had his breakthrough in 2007 with his first album 'Life in cartoon motion', which includes the addictive 'Grace Kelly', we heard some similarities with Freddie Mercury, especially vocally, as well as with some natural pure pop artists and the English music-hall genre from before 1960. Holbrook (why call him Holbrook? Seriously?) apparently has dozens of melodies in his back pocket, that's how naturally his sometimes happy and sometimes melancholic songs sound. A perfect example of the latter is 'Porcelain', which is full of riffs and intriguing patterns."

Listening to the album version, I realize the beginning is actually: "Oh my god, Sam, what's happened to ya, says his..."
Still not sure about that other word, though.
I now hear "It's just what I was hurled" ..?

It's quite amazing how he's managed to make a song called 'Porcelain' sound so fragile indeed. Beautiful song, like a tiny piece of art, as he's described in his Italian track by track video.

Promiseland is amazing! It really goes up and down the whole time, it's like you're being thrown around.
And I love the unapologetic part of "Don't occupy my throne / Give me the crown I own"

Okay guys, so it's out in Holland!!!! And I'm already in love with the first two songs
I'm in love with the entire album! With every single song he manages to move me.

Brilliant lyrics. Did Mika write them all? It sound very much like Barenaked Ladies or Lily Allen.
Written by MIKA, Nina Woodford, Jarrad Kritzstein & Crucial
Sounds like a lot of fun, this song!

I am sorry to say this but the album is definitely leaked It is all over VK.com Deluxe version, all of the songs....
I just received an email that my copy is being sent to me and I'll get it tomorrow. The release date here and in Germany is the 12th of June, tomorrow, so a leak one day before isn't that bad in my view..
