  1. Did the studio have a screen where you could see the judges' faces?
  2. Hi @willprest, glad you've joind the Forum. You mentioned that being a Mika fan has helped you with your language studies (Italian). For me, Mika's videos in French were an incentive to get me studying the language again. Hope you have the opportunity to visit Italy sometime since you're majoring in art.
  3. You might enjoy listening to what this vocal coach has to say (at minute 23) about Angelina's lovely (and touching) performance: https://youtu.be/cMMKmH0ftBM?si=koAgoVcsTGHyiCTB
  5. Maybe a new thread for 2024 should be created or perhaps 2024 could be added in the name of this thread
  6. So Mika says he's going to sing Jane Birkin in Lucca and perhaps even sing a bit of it in Italian. imusicfun.it has similar info.
  7. I thought for a minute that Mika had decided to go ahead and post the video!! So I put my headphones on (despite the late hour) . . . and then read the words "premieres in 18 hours."
  8. I was almost expecting to see Mika driving the vehicle! Is he going to skate for a music video?
  10. https://www.edinburghlive.co.uk/news/edinburgh-news/mika-joins-claudia-winkleman-edinburgh-28643110#amp-readmore-target Not sure if this is the right place for this news item
  11. https://roma.repubblica.it/cronaca/2024/02/18/news/lang_lang_pianoforte_accademia_di_santa_cecilia_roma-422157018/ Does anyone know if the article also talks about The Piano? I don't have a subscription to Repubblica
  12. You're right, it's great that Mika made the shortlist! For the entries they probably had to use the legal names of the participants. Whoever wrote the announcement apparently doesn't know Mika's nationality. 😄
  13. I found Up also moving in how it portrayed loss and disappointment.
  15. I thought Annalisa's duet "Sweet Dreams" with La rappresentante di lista was outstanding. I'm putting a link for anyone who wasn't following Sanremo: https://youtu.be/H4e0zqJKHps I would have been happy if she'd won the night of the duets (don't know why so many viewers preferred Geolier). I also would have liked to see her at Eurovision, though I'm not crazy about "Sinceramente". Angelina Mango's song is catchy and I imagine will be appreciated by many European viewers. I think it's a shame that Santi Francesi (2022 X Factor winners) and Skin weren't among the first 5 for the duets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeQeVn-XAeU
  16. https://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/winners/best-original-programme-the-piano/5190238.article Don't know if this great news should be posted here!
  17. @mellody wrote: I don't follow what the other coaches do - are they always nice and sweet to their contestants? On the casting shows I used to watch 20 years ago, it wasn't like that at all [. . . ] And I remember from Xfactor that he's not good at dealing with crying people. Although, didn't he console that one girl? I thought there was something... I'm not sure yet if I will follow The Voice, there's too many other things... but I'm curious to hear from those who do follow it whether that has changed too, as he said he has changed a lot - maybe now he can also deal better with crying contestants? .............. Maybe you have in mind The Voice. As for X-Factor, Mika and his co-judges in 2021 gave me the impression that they genuinely cared about the singers they were coaching. At times they also had nice things to say about other judges' contestants. Perhaps you were referring to Nika Paris, the sixteen-year-old who broke into tears as she read the lyrics and sang Justin Bieber's "Lonely" during rehearsals. Mika chose it because Manuel Agnelli had commented that Nika didn't seem to show much emotion while singing. Here's the clip in which Mika tries to help her get through the song. https://xfactor.sky.it/video/x-factor-daily-puntata-14-nika-paris-si-commuove-cantando-708206
  18. In the interview Mika says . . . Why does a talent choose you? What are we looking for with you? I always ask myself this question because most of the time, I make them cry in coaching! Are you tough? No, I'm not being harsh, but I'm saying don't waste this opportunity. They are coming and we must not fall into the trap of making television. If they only do TV, they're not going to think about building a career and they're going to regret it for the rest of their lives. When Mika was on X Factor in Italy in 2021, I sometimes thought he was a bit hard on the members of his team. The other judges seemed to criticize their contestants less. I think I have a better understanding now of his approach as a coach (on X Factor at least). He does not mince any words because he truly is trying to get his singers to concentrate on improving their performance. This part of the interview also reminded me of what Mika said on TF1 back in December, that is, that he hoped he could do for someone else what his mom had done for him. This would entail, however, being more than just a coach for a few weeks on a TV show.
  19. Hi @apocalypsecalypso, I live in Italy too. Glad you enjoy Mika's music so much! I became interested in Mika too thanks to TV, that is X Factor 2020. Hope you enjoy participating in the Forum.
  20. So why was he in Milan? He said not long ago that there were surprises in store for Italian fans. Guess we'll just have to wait and see
  21. I'm wondering about a future Mika is missing. Where will he be between the end of April and the end of June? I bet he'll be working on something that'll make lots of fans happy! 😍
