I wasn't very keen on anyone holding my first. And he, bless him, cried if anyone tried, so he got given back to me pretty sharpish. I gave myself back ache by always holding him. People take on Maternity nannies for a variety of reasons, sometimes if it is an adoption, sometimes because of PND...but quite often (like this one) it is to get the baby into a routine.
