Η διοργάνωση όμως κατάφερε να μάς αποζημιώσει με τον καλύτερο τρόπο. Η 1η Ιουλίου σηματοδότησε την έναρξη του αγαπημένου festival της Ελλάδας, όπου πλήθος κόσμου από όλα τα μέρη της χώρας -και του εξωτερικού- επιλέγουν να επισκεφτούν, τόσο για την τοποθεσία του όσο και την υπέροχη ακουστική του. Leon of Athens, Jonathan Jeremiah, MIKA, James Bay και φυσικά ο Robbie Williams μετέτρεψαν την κατά τα άλλα δροσερή θα λέγαμε βραδιά στο Terra Vibe Park σε μία ζεστή κι άκρως ηλεκτρισμένη ατμόσφαιρα. Το μεγάλο στοίχημα της χθεσινής βραδιάς και το μεγαλύτερο βάρος του να “ξεσηκώσει” το κοινό, που έσπευσε από το άνοιγμα των θυρών στις 15:00, το κέρδισε με μεγάλη ευκολία θα λέγαμε ο δικός μας Leon of Athens που βγήκε στη σκηνή στις 17:00. Ο νεαρός καλλιτέχνης, που ξέρει να κινείται πάνω στη σκηνή, να γεμίζει τον χώρο με την παρουσία του και να ερμηνεύει αψεγάδιαστα σε όλες τις συνθήκες, μάς κέρδισε με τα τραγούδια του “Aeroplane”, “Κύματα”, το αγαπημένο μας “Xenos” και μια ολοκαίνουρια δημιουργία του, ανάμεσα σε άλλα. Ο Leon δεν δίστασε να μάς εκμυστηρευτεί πως ο Robbie Williams ήταν ένα από τα παιδικά του είδωλα και η συμμετοχή του ίδιο line-up ήταν ένα όνειρο που έγινε πραγματικότητα. Ο αισθαντικός Jonathan Jeremiah ανέβηκε στη σκηνή μία ώρα αργότερα για να μετατρέψει τη διάθεσή μας σε λίγο πιο ρομαντική και σίγουρα να “ρίξει” τους τόνους. Ανοίγοντας με το “Horsepower for the Streets” και συνεχίζοντας με το “Mountain”, είναι γεγονός πως ο Jeremiah μάς κέρδισε. Έτσι, ακούγοντας τα “Lost”, “The Stars Are Out”, αλλά και το “Rosario”, τραγούδια που ακούστηκαν ανάμεσα σε άλλα από τη δισκογραφία του καλλιτέχνη, το κοινό δε σταμάτησε να δίνει ρυθμό εμψυχώνοντας με τη σειρά του τον Βρετανό ερμηνευτή. Έπειτα από μία σύντομη παύση, όπως γίνεται ανάμεσα σε κάθε act, ήρθε η ώρα για τον απολαυστικό και καταιγιστικό MIKA να κάνει αυτό που ξέρει καλύτερα: να γίνει ένα με τον κόσμο μέσω της μουσικής του. Ο Ιταλός ερμηνευτής, βαθιά συγκινημένος για τη συμμετοχή του στο Rockwave Festival αλλά και για την πρώτη του καθολικά εμφάνιση στην Ελλάδα, δε σταμάτησε να μοιράζεται ιστορίες με τον κόσμο, να χορεύει και να κεντρίζει τα βλέμματα πάνω του με την αυθεντική, γλυκιά και εντυπωσιακή του παρουσία. Φυσικά, από το setlist δεν έλειψαν οι μεγάλες του επιτυχίες, όπως το εναρκτήριο “Lollipop”, το γεμάτο συμβολισμούς “Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)”, το “ανεβαστικό” “Relax, Take It Easy”, το ατμοσφαιρικό “Underwater” και φυσικά το “Grace Kelly”. Πραγματικά, ο MIKA ήταν σαν να πετούσε καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια του act του και το κοινό δε σταμάτησε να τον αποθεώνει! Έχοντας μη συνειδητοποιήσει πως πέρασε η ώρα, ο James Bay ανέβηκε στη σκηνή στις 21:00 επιβεβαιώνοντάς μας πως οι πρώτες σειράς από το κοινό είχαν έρθει για τον Robbie Williams. Συγγνώμη, James. Ωστόσο, ο Βρετανός τραγουδιστής έδωσε τον καλύτερό του εαυτό κι η πιο rock διάσταση του line-up της 1ης Ιουλίου ήρθε ακριβώς από τον Bay. “Best Fake Smile”, “If You Ever Want to Be in Love”, “Us”, τα δύο νέα του τραγούδια “Goodbye Never Felt So Bad” και “All My Broken Pieces” και φυσικά η μεγάλη του επιτυχία “Hold Back The River”. Ολοκληρώνοντας την εμφάνισή του, λοιπόν, τα εντυπωσιακά σκηνικά για το act του Robbie Williams αρχίζουν να στήνονται και στις 22:30 ο headliner της βραδιάς ανέβηκε στη σκηνή με τα φωτιζόμενα παραβάν να αποκαλύπτουν τον ίδιο και την ομάδα του σα μία οργανωμένη, μουσική πανδαισία. Όπως και το 2015, έτσι και τώρα, το “Let Me Entertain You” ήταν το τραγούδι-δήλωση με το οποίο “άνοιξε” τη δική του εμφάνιση. Συγκρίνοντας τις δύο του εμφανίσεις στην Ελλάδα όμως, αυτή τη φορά η παρουσία του επί σκηνής ήταν σίγουρα πιο παιχνιδιάρικη κι ανάλαφρη, παροτρύνοντας εξαρχής το κοινό να συμμετάσχει στο set του. Ο ντυμένος στα χρυσά Robbie επέλεξε να μιλήσει αρκετά με το κοινό, να γνωριστεί μαζί του (βλ. τον Δημήτρη και την Ρία, που στον μεν έκανε πλάκα και στη δε αφιέρωσε το “She’s The One”), ενώ το ενδιαφέρον του φαίνεται πως μονοπώλησε η σύνδεσή του με τους Take That. Μάλιστα, στο set του συμπεριέλαβε και τραγούδια του συγκροτήματος στο οποίο συμμετείχε στα ‘90s, όπως το “The Flood”, ενώ δε δίστασε να διασκευάσει το “Could It Be Magic” του Barry Manilow, αλλά και το “Don’t Look Back In Anger” των Oasis. Περνώντας στα δικά μας κι εννοώντας τη δισκογραφία του Robbie, ο Βρετανός ερμηνευτής και πάνω από όλα performer μάς χάρισε μοναδικές στιγμές με τη συνοδεία των προσωπικών του τραγουδιών, “Strong”, “Come Undone”, “Feel” και “Kids”. Το χορευτικό επιτελείο που τον συνόδευε, μάλιστα, δε σταμάτησε λεπτό να χορεύει επί 1,5 ώρα προσθέτοντας ενέργεια στο live του Williams. Κάποια “κακόγουστα” αστεία (και του δικού μου αγαπημένου τραγουδιστή) ίσως να πήγαν να χάσουν από αξία στο σύνολο της εμφάνισής του, ωστόσο ξεπεράστηκαν γρήγορα και το κοινό απερίσπαστο συνέχισε να τραγουδάει μαζί με τον Robbie. Ένα δώρο επιπλέον επέλεξε να κάνει ο καλλιτέχνης στους fans του, δίνοντάς του μπλούζες από τη φετινή του περιοδεία. Φτάνοντας σιγά σιγά προς το τέλος της συναυλίας, το “No Regrets”, το “She’s The One” και φυσικά το “Angels” ολοκλήρωσαν με τον πιο όμορφο και συναισθηματικά φορτισμένο τρόπο το act του Βρετανού ερμηνευτή. Το κοινό όμως παρέμεινε στις “θέσεις” του κι έτσι ο Robbie τραγούδησε a capella τα “Me and My Monkey”, “Strong”, “Feel” κι “Angels”. Και κάπως έτσι, η 1η ημέρα του μουσικού φεστιβάλ Rockwave έφτασε στο τέλος της, αφήνοντας μια όμορφη επίγευση κι εμείς αναμένουμε τα επόμενα! The big bet of last night and the biggest burden to "wake up" the audience, who rushed from the opening of the doors at 15:00, was won with great ease, so to speak, by our own Leon of Athens who took the stage on the 17th: 00. The young artist, who knows how to move on stage, fill the space with his presence and perform flawlessly in all conditions, won us over with his songs "Aeroplane", "Kymata", our favorite "Xenos" and a brand new creation of, among others. Leon did not hesitate to confide in us that Robbie Williams was one of his childhood idols and the participation of the same line-up was a dream come true. The soulful Jonathan Jeremiah took the stage an hour later to turn our mood a little more romantic and definitely set the tone. Opening with “Horsepower for the Streets” and continuing with “Mountain”, it's a fact that Jeremiah won us over. Thus, listening to "Lost", "The Stars Are Out", but also "Rosario", songs that were heard among others from the artist's discography, the audience did not stop giving rhythm, cheering the British performer in turn. After a short break, as happens between each act, it's time for the delightful and stormy MIKA to do what he knows best: to become one with the world through his music. The Italian performer, deeply moved by his participation in the Rockwave Festival but also by his first Catholic appearance in Greece, did not stop sharing stories with the world, dancing and drawing attention to himself with his authentic, sweet and impressive presence. Of course, the setlist did not lack his big hits, such as the opening "Lollipop", the symbolic "Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)", the "uplifting" "Relax, Take It Easy", the atmospheric "Underwater" and "Grace Kelly" of course. Really, MIKA was like flying throughout his act and the audience didn't stop adoring him! Not realizing how much time had passed, James Bay took to the stage at 21:00 confirming to us that the first lines from the audience had come for Robbie Williams. Sorry, James. However, the British singer gave his best and the rockier dimension of the July 1st line-up came precisely from Bay. "Best Fake Smile", "If You Ever Want to Be in Love", "Us", his two new songs "Goodbye Never Felt So Bad" and "All My Broken Pieces" and of course his big hit "Hold Back The River”. Completing his appearance, the impressive scenery for Robbie Williams' act begins to be set up and at 22:30 the headliner of the evening took to the stage with the illuminated screens revealing him and his team as an organized, musical feast. As in 2015, so now, “Let Me Entertain You” was the statement song with which he “opened” his own performance. Comparing his two appearances in Greece, however, this time his presence on stage was definitely more playful and light, encouraging the audience to participate in his set from the start. Dressed in gold, Robbie chose to talk enough with the audience, to get to know them (see Dimitris and Ria, who made fun of him and dedicated "She's The One" to her), while his interest seems to have monopolized his connection with Take That. In fact, in his set he also included songs from the band he was a part of in the '90s, such as "The Flood", while he did not hesitate to cover Barry Manilow's "Could It Be Magic", as well as "Don't Look Back In Anger” by Oasis. Moving on to ours and referring to Robbie's discography, the British performer and above all performer gave us unique moments with the accompaniment of his personal songs, "Strong", "Come Undone", "Feel" and "Kids". The dance staff that accompanied him, in fact, did not stop dancing for 1.5 hours, adding energy to Williams' live. Some "bad taste" jokes (and from my own favorite singer) might have detracted from his whole performance, but they were quickly overcome and the audience continued to sing along with Robbie. The artist chose to make an additional gift to his fans, giving them T-shirts from this year's tour. Slowly reaching the end of the concert, "No Regrets", "She's The One" and of course "Angels" completed the act of the British performer in the most beautiful and emotionally charged way. But the audience remained in their "seats" and so Robbie sang a capella "Me and My Monkey", "Strong", "Feel" and "Angels". And just like that, the 1st day of the Rockwave music festival came to an end, leaving a beautiful aftertaste and we look forward to what's to come! Όπως τα festivals και συγκεκριμένα ένα event που έγινε θεσμός για χρόνια. Το Rockwave Fest ήρθε όπως και η πρώτη ημέρα, με δυνατά ονόματα. Οκ κατανοώ πως μπορεί να μην ήταν όλα το ύφος σου. Yπάρχει πιθανότητα να μην ήξερες πολλά, ασχέτως αν τελικά ήξερες κομμάτια… Το ένα και μοναδικό όνομα των 90’s ακούει στο όνομα Robbie Williams! Αν δεν είχες την ευκαιρία το 2015, τότε σίγουρα ΕΠΡΕΠΕ να είσαι σε αυτήν την συναυλία, για πολλούς λόγους. Δεν θα στους πω τώρα, θα πρέπει να σκρολάρεις και να φτάσεις στο τέλος! Το πρόγραμμα λίγο πολύ είχε ανακοινωθεί, οπότε γνωρίζαμε πως έπρεπε να είμαστε από νωρίς στο Terravibe (ιστορικό πλέον). Η φετινή θερινή συναυλιακή σεζόν του Rockwave ξεκίνησε στις 17:00 επισήμως. Με ζέστη, κόσμο και καλή διάθεση. Πάμε να τα πούμε αναλυτικά και πάρε βαθιά ανάσα, γιατί έχεις να διαβάσεις, να δεις και να ακούσεις ΠΟΛΛΑ. MIKA Από που να ξεκινήσω για αυτόν τον άνθρωπο; Κυρίες και κύριοι, στην σκηνή ανεβαίνει ο Mika! Μας χαιρέτησε σε άψογα ελληνικά, αφού μας είπε πως έκανε λίγο καιρό για να τα μάθει. Και αυτό μόνο ήταν η αρχή για να μας εντυπωσιάσει και να μας αφήσει με το στόμα ανοιχτό. Από τα Ελληνικά, επάνω σε ένα πιάνο με το Best fake smile και από εκεί πασαρέλα δίχως σταματημό! Αν αξίζει να κάνει δική του συναυλία; Ναι Θα έπρεπε να βγει προτελευταίο όνομα; Ναι Τον ευχαριστηθήκαμε; Ναι δγιάολε! Το δέσιμο που είχε με το κοινό ή τουλάχιστον κατάφερε να τους φέρει στα νερά του, ήτα εκπληκτικά μαγικό. Δεν ξέρω ειλικρινά αν έμεινε κάποιος πίσω που να μην κούνησε έστω τα πόδια! Και όταν σου λέω μαγικό, θα δεις παρακάτω στο βίντεο! Ένας μικρός showman μέσα στο πράσινο (παλιού ορθόδοξου θα μπορούσαμε να πούμε). Από σακάκι στον μανδύα για να δέσει με αυτήν την ΤΕΛΕΙΑ μάσκα Τίγρη!! Και τι χορός, τι παρουσία, τι ένταση και πάθος! Rockwave Fest day #1 No matter how much you don't want it, some things don't change. Like festivals and specifically an event that became an institution for years. Rockwave Fest came like the first day, with strong names. Ok, I understand that maybe not everything was your style. There is a possibility that you didn't know much, regardless of whether you finally knew pieces... The one and only name of the 90's is Robbie Williams! If you didn't get a chance in 2015, then you absolutely HAD to be at this concert, for many reasons. I won't tell you now, you'll have to scroll and get to the end! The schedule had more or less been announced, so we knew we had to be early at Terravibe (now history). This year's Rockwave summer concert season officially kicked off at 5:00 p.m. With heat, people and good mood. Let's talk in detail and take a deep breath, because you have to read, see and hear A LOT. MIKA Where do I begin about this man? Ladies and gentlemen, Mika takes the stage! He greeted us in perfect Greek, after telling us that he took some time to learn it. And that was just the beginning to impress us and leave us speechless. From Greek, onto a piano with the Best fake smile and from there a catwalk without stopping! If it deserves to have its own concert? Yes Should penultimate name come out? Yes Did we please him? Yes dear! The bond he had with the audience, or at least managed to bring them into his waters, was surprisingly magical. I honestly don't know if there was anyone left behind who didn't even move their legs! And when I tell you magic, you will see below in the video! A small showman in the green (old orthodox we could say). From jacket to cloak to tie with this PERFECT Tiger Mask!! And what dancing, what presence, what intensity and passion! Το ρολόι γράφει πια 19:30 και ο Mika εμφανίζεται στη σκηνή, ξαπλωμένος πάνω σε ένα πιάνο με ένα κοστούμι πράσινο σμαραγδί. Για κάποιο λόγο το μυαλό μου πάει ακαριαία στον Jim Carey και τον ήρωά του στη Μάσκα, και δεν είναι η πρώτη φορά που κάνω μέσα μου αυτή τη σύνδεση, η κινησεολογία του Mika θυμίζει έντονα καρτούν, εξάλλου Life In Cartoon Motion δεν λεγόταν και το hit album του από το 2007; Τι γκελ είχε κάνει τότε στον κόσμο αυτός εδώ ο τύπος. Τρομερά χαρούμενος που βρίσκεται στην Αθήνα, ο Mika αποχωρίζεται το σακάκι του και μένει με ένα λευκό φανελάκι, απευθύνεται στο κοινό του στα ελληνικά και τα αγγλικά (αλλά και τα ισπανικά, τα γαλλικά, τα ιταλικά), βγαίνει συνέχεια στον διάδρομο-προέκταση της σκηνής, κατεβαίνει και τραγουδά ανάμεσα στο κοινό, αρπάζει το κουκλάκι ενός μικρού κοριτσιού και λέει στο μικρόφωνο πως δεν θα του το ξαναδώσει αν δεν χοροπηδήσουμε όλοι μαζί του, χαμογελάει συνεχώς, αποκαλύπτει πως πέρασε στην Αθήνα το πρώτο διάστημα της πανδημίας, καθώς αποκλείστηκε και δεν μπορούσε να γυρίσει σπίτι. «Δεν το πιστεύω ότι έχω κάνει τόσα χιλιόμετρα βόλτες τον σκύλο μου γύρω από το Μετς, κι όμως σήμερα είναι η πρώτη φορά που παίζω live στην Αθήνα!» “Lollipop”, “Relax, Take it Easy!”, “Ice Cream”, “Happy Ending”, “Grace Kelly” (τα ξέρουμε όλα απέξω, για φαντάσου!) ένα αναπάντεχο flashback με το “Rain” (“baby, I hate days like this”), το ακούραστο φαλσέτο του του Mika, πολύχρωμα fun visuals, camp διάθεση, μια κάπα, ένα κεφάλι τίγρης και μια φυσική μεταδοτικότητα υπερβολικής χαράς, θετικότητας, παλαβομάρας και ενέργειας, επιπέδων Eurovision (της οποίας, by the way, έχει υπάρξει και συμπαρουσιαστής, το 2022). Πολύ fun και χαρισματικός τύπος, πολύ εύκολη και αβίαστη η χημεία του με το ελληνικό κοινό, έχω ειλικρινή απορία πώς και δεν είχε παίξει στην Ελλάδα τόσα χρόνια, μα κάτι μου λέει πως θα ξαναρθεί και μάλιστα άμεσα. Self-help lessons from Robbie Williams in Malacca (and a mean joke gone wrong) Rockwave Festival is back with Robbie Williams, James Bay, Mika, Jonathan Jeremiah and Leon of Athens and the audience returned to Malakasa for a spectacular night full of music, humor, confessions and reflections. The clock now reads 19:30 and Mika appears on stage, lying on a piano in an emerald green suit. For some reason my mind instantly goes to Jim Carey and his character in The Mask, and it's not the first time I've made this connection, Mika's kinesiology is strongly reminiscent of cartoons, after all Life In Cartoon Motion wasn't even called the hit his album from 2007? What gel had this guy done in the world then. Terribly happy to be in Athens, Mika sheds his jacket and remains in a white T-shirt, addresses his audience in Greek and English (but also Spanish, French, Italian), keeps going out into the corridor-extension of the stage , gets down and sings in the audience, grabs a little girl's doll and tells the microphone that he won't give it to him again if we don't all jump with him, smiles constantly, reveals how he spent the first period of the pandemic in Athens, as he was excluded and couldn't to return home. "I can't believe I've walked my dog so many kilometers around Metz, and yet today is the first time I'm playing live in Athens!" “Lollipop”, “Relax, Take it Easy!”, “Ice Cream”, “Happy Ending”, “Grace Kelly” (we know them all by heart, just imagine!) an unexpected flashback with “Rain” (“baby, I hate days like this"), Mika's tireless falsetto, colorful fun visuals, camp mood, a cape, a tiger's head and a natural contagiousness of Eurovision-level joy, positivity, swagger and energy (which, by the way, has also been a co-presenter, in 2022). Very fun and charismatic guy, his chemistry with the Greek audience is very easy and effortless, I honestly wonder why he hadn't played in Greece for so many years, but something tells me that he will do it again and even immediately.
