robertina
Italian fans, I think we have to teach some Italian words to Mika! In XL magazine interview he said not to know Italian, just a few words... We can help him, don't you think? What would you like him to say in Italian in MIlan??? So MIKA, read and repeat: lesson nr.1 Italian: le fan italiane sono le migliori! English: Italian fans are the best in the world! lesson nr. 2 Italian: tornerò presto per un altro concerto! English: I'll be back to you soon with another concert! lesson nr. 3 Italian: vi amo tutte! English: I love you all! Now it's your turn..... (waiting for the concerct drives me crazy a bit ) mika, here are some pronunciation hints: ch = sounds like 'K' gl= sounds like Spanish 'll' in paella (do you know that? I love paella!) u = always sounds as 'oo'

robertina
lesson nr. 5 Italian: ehi tu, in prima fila, vieni sul palco a cantare con me! English: hey, you in the front row, come up to the stage and sing with me! lesson nr. 6 Italian: ci vediamo dietro il palco, lasciamo andare via tutti... English: see you behind the stage, let the others get out of here... How can we manage with pronunciation? We cannot use phonetic symbols, that's for sure! juley
i love Italian, sounds great(especially when coming from valentino rossi:wub2: )! i can pretty much understand what it means when i read it or hear it(that is if the person doesn't talk too fast) ecause it's closely related to romanian, but speaking it is a much harder nut to crack..i might get some grammar books when i get some spare time.but this thread helps too:biggrin2: and about the pronounciation, you could try first explaining the general rules by making analogies with words in english(such as perché - ketchup) and then explain how to pronounce exceptions when you encounter them. and you can also highlight the longer or accentuated vowels by using capital letters(like italiAno). and the rest...just improvise:thumb_yello:

CazGirl
I learn to speak the correct pronounciation by singing them in songs first. I am quater Italian, and have met my Italian cousins a few times, but I don't really know much of the language. However, I have learnt "I won't say I'm in Love" (from disney's Hercules) in Italian and i just love singing it. I know this isnt really related to the whole "learn italian, mika!" lol but i was just answering the whole pronounciation thing. yeah. OOOH ACTUALLY I GOT ONE. Buongiorno Bella lol i think i spelt that wrong but oh well!
