    On first listen I quite like this, sounds very promising. Looking forward to hearing the album version though as Mika sounds out of tune to me in this performance I'm not crazy about those lyrics, the cigarette/nicorette thing, at all, but I do like the overall sound of this song.

    Celebrate is really really growing on me. Yes it's ever so slightly cheesy and a bit too mainstream for my taste but I'm finding that not only can I not get it out of my head, but also that every time I hear it, it makes me feel euphoric. Even Pharrell's bit is growing on me. The "and have fun!" part, I think, is a big hook. The only bit that jars with me a little is the rather clunky transition just before Pharrell says "right about now...". I don't get that bit at all. Basically, it'll never be on my top ten Mika favourites list but it does have that little bit of Mika magic in it, which keeps bringing me back to listen to it.

    I've had a quick skim through the reviews and pics and watched Nina's video - thanks to all. I quite like the way MYH shapes up live. Especially the live use of the vocoder. I'd love to hear Mika layer his own voice live using technology if possible and I guess this is a simplified version of that. I hope he goes further with it. Pity he didn't perhaps debut another new song, but wasn't really expecting it. Anyway, glad people had fun (even if it was too short ) and glad M went as himself and not Little Lord Fauntleroy.

    Outfit sounds good, in that it's just clothes, not an outfit I never really want to see Mika in an "outfit" again.

    Have a great time everyone who's going. I look forward to the photos; I've just been watching the highlights video of the Circus stage from last year and it's looks like a very colourful and vibrant part of the festival. Make the most of those 40 minutes I'm sure it'll be fab.

    Thanks for all the snippets, it's been an interesting read, although I always find reading reviews of things I haven't heard to be a very strange experience. It looks as if it's going to be a mixed bag, this album. I think that's really all we can deduce from these critics' impressions. I'm just going to try very hard now to put it out of my mind until the thing comes out, and make up my own mind. It could well be one of those albums which on paper sounds all over the place but in actual fact makes sense as a whole, who knows? Just a thought on Overrated which I haven't seen anyone touch on yet, my apologies if it has already been said: has anyone considered the possibility that it might not even be related to the demo we know in any way except the title? Mika may just have liked the title and applied it to another song completely. Assuming that isn't the case and it is related to the demo, he may have taken just small elements of the song and reworked them into a new song. Songwriters do this all the time. Their whole body of work is a constant work-in-progress. A demo often functions a sketch of a song, which may eventually be recorded in a fairly faithful way, or may be picked apart and reinterpreted, or even completely discarded. I know many people (myself included) have a special place in their hearts for Overrated, and I understand the sense of disappointment that Mika may have "screwed it up" by making it a dance song, but this is how it goes sometimes.

    Just knew he wouldn't be able to leave it alone. Oh well, we'll always have the demo to remind us of simpler times..

    That does confuse me a bit, because it's hardly a whole new sound is it? He's hardly gone death metal or grime on this single.... It's just a continuation of his very poppy mainstream sound, updated a bit. Perhaps it's the updating that many don't like? But it's nothing radically different to his older stuff, IMHO.

    I agree it goes downhill after the Pharrell bit. In my opinion not specifically because of him; it just fizzles out for some reason I've said this before and I still stand by it: I think Mika's choruses are overrated and his verses are much better, in many of his songs.

    Agree about Pharrell. IMO he should have been more present in the song, or not there at all. I don't think the talky bit adds much. I kind of feel the opposite to you about the appeal of the two songs. The appeal of Make You Happy for me is that it grew on me with every listen, which shows it has some depth to it. Celebrate is completely instantaneous and memorable, which is good (don't get me wrong) but it may be the kind of song people quickly tire of. It must be so hard to decide the lead single from an album and I don't envy anyone that task. Fingers cossed they've chosen the right strategy.

    It has London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony written all over it...is it too late to put Mika in the lineup??? That bit about the finish line.. I like it. Could do without the talky bit from Pharrell but otherwise, pretty good anthemic stuff. thanks to whoever uploaded

    I really like the hat actually. And nice to see the braces back. It's when it gets below the waist that it all starts to go downhill. Are those shoes or some kind of trainer?

    I hope it gets onto some playlists. I know Mika's nearly always made the Radio 2 playlists, but wouldn't it be nice to get him onto R1 again? Not that I ever listen to Radio 1 (or Radio 2 for that matter), but the people who buy music in this country do.
