  1. And I invited friends and neighbours round to see the finished outfit.
  2. I covered the buttons for the cuffs and these at the centre front.
  3. One sleeve in and one sleeve out! And she's wearing glasses but she had laser eye surgery before the wedding and looked different.
  4. Ok, I'll see if I can share some photos. . . The photo doesn't seem to show, but the link should work.
  5. He has so much going for him hasn't he? Have you managed to see him live? He's not around the uk any more and I miss him but I've promised myself not to travel abroad any more.

  6. I'm so surprised this thread has gone quiet, but I'm partly to blame. I haven't visited MFC for weeks! Firstly, let me say I love your wedding photos. Look at you with all that blue sky and the sun shining on your special day. It sounds quite eventful too. But the important thing is that you are now married and you have wonderful pictures to remind you as well as great memories. And it wouldn't be a true family wedding if there weren't a few family events! My daughter's day was fabulous too. The outfit was finished in time, which isn't to say that I don't wish I'd spent longer on setting the sleeves and that I'd taken the iron to the collar on the morning, but it wasn't that sort of a perfectionist's event. The near-disaster was that her other half forget to pack his trousers so she made a 4 hour round trip the evening before to get them! And the weather forecast was truly dreadful on the day. Wild wind and heavy storms sweeping in by lunchtime. But for some reason we did photos in slightly sunny daylight and were all safely in the reception venue by the time the storm came - and it really was awful. I'll write more later and try to remember how to post photos - I presume it's still a lengthy procedure? Congratulations x
  7. Hi, I hope you are enjoying finding your way around the site. Have you been a Mika fan for long?

  8. I gave Mika a poppy (for Remembrance Day) I made last year when I was in the Polka Dot Choir in Munich. I had a heart-stop moment just then, thinking he was wearing it!
  9. I've been quite busy this week with sewing for the wedding. I've added a net layer to the skirt of my dress because it was hanging limply and not showing itself off well. I'm not sure if I like the effect on me - I look as though I have size 20 hips! I've designed and made the cuffs for the sleeves of Nell's wedding outfit, both sleeves are basted in place (but need a final fitting) most of the buttons I need have been covered and my husband has rigged up a way of banging the clips onto the back without spoiling the front. I think he's pleased to be involved as he hasn't shown any interest in planning his speech! Her skirt needs the hem fixing, but again, I need her, in her wedding shoes, to get it right. I have no idea of the easiest way to do a floor length hem, but I expect YouTube to come to my aid once more. My main problem is designing a collar. I've given up with all three attempts, put my machine away for a week and will do some deep thinking about it . . . I feel I need to have something workable by the end of November.
  10. And in exactly 5 weeks, I'll be eating breakfast with my new son-in-law, and the wedding will be over!
  11. Thanks for sharing the route; isn't technology great? You've done lots to prepare and remember the main thing is to share your day and enjoy it! If you're not enjoying any of the jobs on your list, don't do them and if you are; good! Enjoy! :-) I've sent a photo of my dress to Afghanistan and my daughter approves :-)
  12. That's lovely. Do we have the perfume in the UK?
  13. There looks to be a big drop from the stage to the water and I think the man in the suit is bracing the other man to help get his belt off more quickly. I think.
  14. No, sorry, I just followed the link here.
  15. Like Love the close up of van Gogh's artwork!
  16. Congratulations :-D My daughter's is 14th December
  17. This is a lovely photo! I hope you've settled down well into married life :-) I've finally managed to do two fittings for my daughter's outfit. They went well so I could buy and sew up the lining although I'm not going to attach them together until next month. She's in Afghanistan atm and has lost weight. . . Now I need to crack on with designing and making cuffs for the sleeves and a stand up collar which aren't part of the pattern. It has frills which she doesn't want. She's away for one more month so I've time to get it all sorted out. She sent her invitations out at the end of her leave in early August so we've booked our hotel room and I've bought my 'mother of the bride' dress.
  18. I've been away. I got back yesterday. Have I missed my chance? ? ?
  19. I've only just seen Mika's facebook post. Is he referring to the MFC or more generally to ill willed people who post on social sites?
  20. This is also from Mawazine: it's doing my French a world of good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZxY3s_XbYE And there's an hour long YouTube Vid of his concert. I though there was a time constraint? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQ7q0A6H7uc
  21. It was a good weather day over there yesterday (my son lives in the same town) so it should have been great. Congratulations Karin
  22. I feel your excitement. Looking forward to your report
  23. Karin, the church is magnificent. I hope your priest recovers. I like the shape of your dress, very stylish My daughter has nearly finished her hand-made invitations, but has gone to Afghanistan so she plans to finish them when she's on leave and get them posted in August. She sent 'save the date' cards out so everyone knows. I've completely stopped with her dress because I need to do a fitting, sew some more and do another fitting. So we'll have to take the dress to where she lives while she's there. It still seems a long time off but she won't be home, properly, till October! And I made a lovely cake for some friends so I'm going to make that for her day too.
  24. I always take a couple along, but haven't actually flashed them . I think flashing light is something Mika's got used to; do you remember when we couldn't take flash photos after the shows?
