What wonderful letters on this thread, so heartfelt and convincing! I sent off two email requests today and hope to do a couple every day. In my second one I mentioned the Big Girl, You are Beautiful song and video and what an inspiration Mika's music has been to so many people. One of his messages is to be happy with yourself and in your own skin, to respect yourself and others. Mika's music is very inspiring and I think Oprah would like that. I already admitted on the other thread that I didn't really get it. However, the one piece I think I understand was the "too much exposure" bit. I'm thinking if too much of Mika is going to be exposed on Oprah then it is time for us to start knitting to cover up the exposure. R U with me? Shall we knit chicken suits or jumpers?

Get it? NO, I don't really get it, but that doesn't matter too much, I don't get a lot. I do know that Tom Cruise was on Oprah and then he got some more exposure on a late night talk show. Maybe he didn't sign the exclusivity contract though.....however, I do have it from a very good source that Tom now has to sign a "lack of violence" contract before ever going on Oprah again....I think this is probably why, don't u? I guess it all makes perfect sense to me now.

Strange that it makes me happy? I suppose that's true. I don't watch Oprah but I do think she is an amazing woman. However, I guess I feel that our culture has become so much a product of mass marketing and being influenced by the "most influential" people, as if we don't have any opinions that we could come up with ourselves...we read the books that Oprah tells us to and watch the movies that she likes, etc etc.....not really, but it makes me want to read the books that Oprah doesn't support, if you know what I mean? Anyway, it is hard to sum it all up into words. I would totally love it if Mika was on the show, so I should just probably shut up now. But this forum has been very enlightening to me, to communicate with people from other countries and cultures. It is great, just like Mika. (and yes, it still makes me happy that you don't know Oprah)

You should. I can't think of anyone better to do the asking....you are the guru and you shoot from the hip. Plus it would be a more delightful conversation.....right?

It is definitely the music for me. It brought me here and it keeps me here....it is very meaningful to me. I've rarely had music touch me so deeply, except for a few classical pieces. However, the quirky personality, the respect Mika has for himself and for others, the wonderful sense of humor, his wide range of performance ability (from goofy to sexy to amazing to goofy all in one song) and his gorgeous (never-quite the same from one day to the next) looks, AND the fact that he has made me a better knitter..... well, those are bonuses for me. Albeit, huge, amazing bonuses, but bonuses all the same next to his amazing song-writing abilities. I really don't need to meet him, but I would love to see a live performance....I hope some day I will. His music touched my soul and I am different because of it. Every day is a gift, every day is a bonus.

That's great. Yeah, he dresses up like one too, that's a good excuse to laugh about chicken, isn't it? It is a hard thing to explain outside of MFC. Even my friends who like MIKA but are not MFC, I tried to explain knitting and chicken to them, but they really don't get it....they just think I am very strange....well, they are my good friends and know me quite well, so there you go.

Seriously? Everytime I watch the "no chicken tonight" I am absolutely sure that he does know. But then again, I do keep watching it over and over again for some reason.....huh? But look at the smile, there is no way that he doesn't know.

Every pay day I go out and buy at least 5 more Mika cds. I then give them away to my friends and family who I know will like his music. Lately I have been buying the Best Buy exclusive cd because of the Satellite bonus track. My friends really like that one also. I own 7 copies of Mika cds myself, but I have never made a copy of any of them. Mika is such a giving person to his fans that he inspires me to be generous also. Plus I love spreading the good word of Mika. Plus, I love having my friends share in my enjoyment of his music. I love the Mika Fan Club too!. MFC rocks!
