  1. Of course, it's the music that is his great gift. Not so much writing lyrics. He tends to get more help with writing lyrics than with the tune, imo. But his music is very rare, in fact, I know no other composer of pop who can write tunes that can actually stand alone so dramatically, without the lyrics. In the middle of Celebrate, there is this incredible build-up of the music that no other pop song (by anyone else) has. It's more than just dance pop, even though it makes you want to dance. So I'm glad they altered the jerky, awkward bits, because now the listeners can thrill to the experience of the song.

  2. I like it so much better. The original version did grow on me a bit, but it seemed jerky and clunky. That middle bit, "stand up and have fun," etc didn't seem, to me, like it needed to be there. It just seemed awkward. But the new version flows along great, and I could concentrate on the music more. If you listen to the music itself and ignore the words for the moment, the music is EPIC. I can imagine the instrumental version being used for all kinds of things. That's something I have always loved about Mika's music. The songs are good, but the instrumental versions of the songs have a life of their own too and can stand alone, without the words.

  3. If we see him, we should suggest it. Did you hear the interview on R2. It was really good. Me likes Ken Bruce! So respectful, and only asked about the music. Not anything else.

  4. Mika should make some lyrics out of accidental rhymes. Do you think so too?

  5. He will do one, I'm sure. Once his album is out we may hear more. Hey I just made a rhyme!

  6. Well he might do something in Yorkshire next year. I hope he plays Manchester again as well.

  7. The Roundhouse staff are great. Really looking forward to it.

  8. Hi again. No, I didn't know I needed a pass at the time. That's why it was so difficult. But I'm going to the Roundhouse in December and they've been great about my disability. God love them. Alan and I have two seats with a great view! So excited!! Love from Marilyn

  9. Yes it was. Actually my memories arn't all good about Blackpool. I didn't realise it was all standing at the venue, and because I have a stick and can't stand, they said I'd have to leave. There was a disabled part there, but they said I couldn't go up, without some kind of pass. I'm always grateful to a Pixie Lott fan who stood up for me. No one there, from the MFC stood up for me, they were all too busy getting to the front of the stage themselves. But the PL fan was disgusted and they eventually let me go and watch Mika from the disabled section.

Anyway, it was great. The sound wasn't good from where I was, but the view was wonderful. Will Young was good aswell. But Mika stole the show,

  10. I voted. I think it worked OK. Best of luck. Love from Marilyn

  11. Hi again. I live a few miles outside of Manchester, in a town called Sale. He's been at Manchester Apollo twice. I didn't seen him there the first time he played there, because the tickets had already sold out when I tried to get some. But the 2nd time I saw Mika there and it's easy to get to from where I live. I've also seen him twice in London and once in Blackpool.

  12. Hi there! I'm happy to be your friend. Stay golden. Love from Marilyn.

  13. I don't tend to push myself forward and approach people on here for friendship, as I am much older than a lot of you. I am young at heart though and consider myself, still golden. When I'm asked to befriend someone on here, I'm always very happy to do so.

I wish I could have been at that listening party. Can't wait to hear all the songs! Love from Marilyn

  14. Hi there! Thanks for requesting me as a friend. I am happy to accept! Stay golden and celebrate! love from Marilyn

  15. Thank you for the compliment. I enjoy writing. I think because I'm older (58 next month) I don't sweat the small stuff about Mika. I don't have a heart attack if he wears his hair straight, it's his choice and his hair, I don't worry if he wears a hat I'm not keen on or a shirt that is different from the usual. Theyre only clothes after all.

I want him to have hit records again, I hope the right decisions are made regarding the songs, but I keep it in prespective, and we'll just wait and see what happens.

I'm so glad he's found love and I want him to be happy. He's just two months younger than my own son Steve, so I love him in a similar way to the way I love my own boy, and I always just want what's best for him.

I hope all of that comes accross in my posts on the forum.

    Love from Marilyn

  16. Hi Eleanor! I've heard of Wakefield. Not sure where it is. But it's great that you are from the UK. I think we're the minority on here now. At first, most were from the UK, but now, because Mika isn't the icon here that he is in other countries, there arn't that many UK fans. I'm hoping that will change with TOOL. I'm hoping there will be some tour dates soon. I can't go to festivals as I have mobility problems, but I've seen Mika at Manchester and London Apollos, and Brixton Acadamy, also at Blackpool. I've met him each time and he is the kindest most beautiful (inside and out) man you could ever meet.

Have you met him? That's all for now. Love from Marilyn,

  17. Hi again. I'm from Manchester in England. I'm married, with a son who's two months older than Mika. He's called Steve. My hubby is called Alan and he loves Lady Gaga. I went to see her last year, with Alan, but wasn't that impressed. We saw Mika the following night, and I loved that concert. I've been a fan of Mika since 2007.

  18. Hi there, I am happy for us to be friends. Love from Marilyn

  19. Hi there! I am happy for us to be friends. Stay golden. Love from Marilyn

  20. Thanks for the translation Alice. I appreciate it. I'll be glad when Mika is in the English papers again, so I can read the articles and interviews straight away. Oh well, not long now..... *waits* .... Not long now *Drums fingers on desk* Not long now.....

  21. Hi there! I've added you as a friend. Stay golden. Love from Marilyn

  22. Thanks. You have a good weekend too.

  23. Another fan is having the same problem I am. I've posted on the Tech Support for help. I haven't downloaded any programmes lately.

  24. Hi again. It's a problem on other threads as well. Deb mentioned Flash Graphics, but I don't know what they are or how to activate them. I'm always nervous around computers as I don't want to click on something and mess everything up. It's only recently this has been happening though. But it's a pest. Love from Marilyn.
