  1. oh I'm so sorry, I only read your post today.... Didn't have much time to come on MFC lately because of some family issues, i'm really sorry! I hope you managed to buy tickets for you and your family! no matter which ticket you bought in the end you'll be fine as it's a small place VIP tickets will provide you a seated place with a nice view on the stage and regular ones gives you the chance to go closer to the stage As far as I can remember the stage is pretty high so if you want to have a nice view onb what is happening on stage you'll be fine if you don't go 1rst row
  2. Here is my little report about this wonderful weekend spent in Tournus First of all, i have to say this gig was a special one for me as I managed to bring my parents with me Ok... tbh I think I'd never been able to convince them without the best argument of the world, that is: "come! you'll taste lots of good food" Anyway, having my parents with me made the whole thing totally different for me. It's difficult to describe but it was a bit like mixing 2 different worlds together: the one I have when I'm at gigs with my Mika friends, Mika himself, the music and all the special atmosphere going with it, and my private one with my family who shares my everyday's life with it's fun times, it's rough times, etc... I'm really happy I finally got the chance to spend a wonderful day mixing all of that together So we arrived at the festival pretty late, around 5pm or smthg like that as we stopped many times on the road to enjoy our trip from Switzerland to Tournus. Of course the first thing we did is eat something and I have the feeling we never stopped during the whole weekend I love eating and I love good music so this festival was just PERFECT We joined my dear friend Kate and her parents and spent a wonderful time going from one place to another, tasting everything we could, watching some culinary shows and chatting. We did not listen really carefully to the other gigs before Mika but i have to say that considering the few songs we heard from Tal, a french "singer" who was on stage before Mika, I'm pretty happy we preserve our ears for later this said, we had some pretty good laugh thanks to her so it was Ok When Mika's turn arrived, we all went to the main stage and found a good spot, quite far from the stage but we had a great view and could feel both the audience and the atmosphere on stage which was great! As much as I loved being first row before and be able to see every little thing happening on stage, i have to say that I really appreciate now seeing the stage from afar and having the opportunity to feel how the audience reacts also. Speaking about the audience, my impressions are a bit confused. As much as people where really into the show on "old" song like GK, LT, Relax and of course the french songs like EMD ( ) or Boum Boum Boum (even more ) dancing, singing, etc... the audience, generally speaking, was pretty cold with other songs. Except for my mother who spent her whole gig dancing, clapping and singing which was really fun to see. Now I now where my fangirl gene does come from Kate and I had a really great time dancing and playing with our, now famous, orange giants hand that we received a few years ago in Crans Montana and bring with us at every gig we spend together now xD The setlist was pretty much the same as in Caribana except for Good Guys that Mika didn't sing at Caribana. I was hoping for a few new songs, especially Good Wife or Staring at the Sun 'cause I love them and wants so much to hear them live, but I'm not sure he's going to play them during this festival tour. Anyway, i still have hopes for my last summer gig in Estavayer in July Mika was very relaxed on stage, very chatty, joking a lot, especially about the ton of mosquitoes he ate during the gig As the place was right next to a river, we all had to deal with a lot of them, but that was obviously kind of a nightmare for Mika on stage with the lights, etc... At one point he ate one of them than just realized he tasted the blood of someone else and said he was now officially a Vampire. That was pretty hilarious ^^ We also saw that he tried to have a lot of contact with people at first row and that was great! The only negative point about the gig, and I think that would always be a very negative point for me..., was the band! maybe I should just stop telling my opinion about it as it's always the same and won't change lol, but again they made some awful mistakes and i still can't understand how someone as perfectionist as Mika seems to be can allow that. Even more as they've been playing with him for a quite long time now... Of course I'm not objective at all as I loved the old band so much and the energy they were bringing on stage... Anyway, I don't like this band, their non existent state on stage and the mistakes they keep doing at every gig I got the chance to see... This said, my parents and i had really an amazing time in Tournus and I'm sooo happy we went there altogether. even more as we're going through a pretty difficult time right now, that weekend was a breath of fresh air for us and I can't thank Mika etc.. enough for that! We waited for him after the show for quite a long time. Actually that was more an occasion for me to chat with some "old" Mika friends I was so happy to see again after so much time so time went by quite quickly. As it started raining and we saw on twitter Mika was having a great time inside with the chiefs, we finally went back to the hotel, but it was already pretty late when we left I unfortunately have no picture to share as the only one I took during the gig is a disaster Please excuse the mistakes I've made, I'm pretty tired and really need to go to sleep now
  3. Here a small interview that Mika made for the swiss-french television last sunday when he was here for Caribana: http://www.rts.ch/info/culture/6858948-mika-mon-nouveau-disque-ressemble-a-un-journal-intime.html I unfortunately have no time to translate it right now as am at work but I'll do it as soon as I can (anyway, he doesn't say anything new ^^)
  4. I'm back Sooo here is my little review of yesterday's gig Kate and I had a very relaxed morning as we've been in Biel on saturday evening to see Muse (which was brilliant too btw) and went to Caribana only around 3pm. So I can not really share any queuing story etc, as we did not queue at all We found a good spot for the gig at the very back but as the place was on a little hill you could see the stage pretty well from anywhere. The gig started with Toy Boy. As much as I thought this was a perfect way to open the concerts in Montreal, I'm not convinced at all about starting a festival gig that way... Luckily he sang Popular right after and the audience directly got into the mood for the rest of the show. It's one of the things I love about Mika coming here, the audience is always very responsive The setlist was smthg like: Toy Boy, popular, GK, Blue Eyes, Billy Brown, Talk about you, BG, underwater, Relax, TOOL, Boum boum boum, Last Party, HE, Elle Me Dit, WAG, LT and L'amour fait ce qu'il veut and Lollipop as encores. I may have forgotten one song or another but basically it was a quite "long" show regarding it was a festival and Mika was ill only a few days ago. His voice was great, even though you could hear he was not at his top form, mostly when he spoke between the songs actually. He did speak quite a lot, joked many times about quite everything coming to his mind, etc... and I thing he was in a quite good mood which was great to see (and to hear ^^). The weather was very HOT so we were all kind of wet but it was worth it. The show was very good, with a good mood and I loved it! It was great to be at the back also because qe could see Mika and the audience and the great interaction there was between them. He made people sing and dance many times and it worked out pretty well. There were a lot of children too, as it was "family day" at the festival and I was a bit scared to have to fight with agressive parents who wants their child to see the show no matter how many people can't see anything behind them but in the end everyone was very polite and quite rescpectful to other people around them. The place was really packed, I think smthg like 5'000 or 6'000 people. It's not that much but as the place was very small it's a lot of people in the end but the atmosphere was very relaxed and happy. These are my first impressions, basically We did not get the chance to see him after the gig but there were so many people waiting for him that I'm not that much desappointed. It would have been a massive mess anyway
  5. Hellooooooooo It's late so I'm not going to write a full report yet as there is so many great things to say about today's gig But here are 2 vids I've taken to help you wait until people wake up and come here to tell you all how great the gig was ^^ l'amour fait ce qu'il veut : https://youtu.be/E2hDWf8ViEU Last Party: https://youtu.be/9lztSG2fe9c My first impressions are basically: really great audience, really great show, really hot weather and really fun day
  6. The sun is out, the birds are singing aaaaand it's gig day see you all later folks!
  7. Some practical infos about the place as I was already there yesterday evening: I'ts pretty small, the main stage is on the right as soon as you get in the festival, you'll find everything you need while waiting for the show (food, drinks, WC, etc...). there are 2 stages and shows take place alternatively on both of them (which means no one else will be playing when Mika is on and people do move between shows to switch from one stage to another). For the ones coming by car, there are enough parking lots all around at smthg like 5-10 min. walking time from the festival's entrance. I think that's all Sooooo have a safe trip to Switzerland for the ones coming from abroad, enjoy the sun, the lake, the moutains and the good music
  8. take some rain stuff with you too because there may be some storms because of the heat I'll be at the festival around 3 pm, so I'll look after MFCers at first row once I'll be there in order to say Hi and meet you all
  9. Looks like we'll have a beautiful, warm (around 26-27C) and sunny Day I'm really looking forward meeting you all there!! I Know I already said that 200 Times but i feeling like Saying it one more time: you should definitely consider enjoying sun and our beautiful lake during the day instead of queuing all Day because there's really no point doing that here... If you're at the festival at the doors opening Time, that would be way early enough! You'll anyway feel quite lonely waiting at first row until mika's gig time xD This said, I'll give you some info about the place later this week as i'll be there on wednesday evening too
  10. thank you all for the reports, pics and videos. I'm really happy to see you guys had such a great time
  11. I've made a little enquiry among my friends as I've never been to this festival before. Looks like the place is really small and kind of crowded during gigs. I've had some "bad" comments about the assistance too... Many of my friends told me that a lot of the "high society" young people of the area go there and that they most of time have no real interest in the gig itself so they talk a lot during gigs etc... As I already said the festival takes place in one of the most expensive area near the lake so it's not a bit surprise to hear that ^^ Anyway "common" poeple do go at this festival too Most of all, sunday is "family day" so be ready to see a lot of children if you're planning to come by car be there early 'cause there's obviously not a lot of parking lot. Anyway "early" here means at the doors opening, no need to be there for hours before that (yeah i know it's useless to say that for a gig in Europe but still ) That's pretty much all I can say so far
  12. just learned he's coming to Paleo festival this summer and I'm sooooo happy about it!!! Really looking forward to see him live (and I love the festival too so i'ts definitely going to be a good day lol)
  13. Just received an email from a swiss tickets provider annoncing Mika will be at Komplex 457 in Zurich on the 26th of september let's wait for official annoncement then
  14. I'm definitely more positive about the upcoming album than i was for the last one. I love this song even though I find it a bit too repetitive to my taste. It gives me the feeling Mika is a bit "lazy" in his writting sometimes and i don't like it 'cause i know he's not (anyway, TAY is FAR from Make you happy in terms of boring repetition ). This said, it's a good catchy song and I like it. Moreover it's IN ENGLISH and I'm so happy about that! I'm definitely not a big fan of his collaboration with Doriand and I think french kind of reduce his voice, even though I'm happy he sometimes sings in my native language... I loved listening to the new songs in Montreal, therefore I'm really curious about what they're going to sound like on the album (and I really hope not to hear that horrible bathroom sound from the origin of love anymore ).
  15. I have to say this stupid dress drove me completely crazy one of my collegue couldn't beleive people could see it a different color than what she was seeing so she spent her day asking everyone what color was the dress many times I've seen it white and gold during the whole day and it suddenly turned to black and blue in the afternoon (probably because my mind reached a point of no return and only found this way to tell me "Go back home!" ) anyway... above all...no matter the color... this dress is quite ugly in fact
  16. Nanou

    Hi

Hi Nicole, Mein deutsch ist leider schrecklich, als ich nur schwiiiizerdütch hier hören kann aber ich verstehe ziehmlich gut and kann "mein bein ist gebrochen" und "Lumpi ist mein hund" gut sagen Anyway, Welcome here on MFC I'll be at the caribana festival and live not very far away from it so if you need any advise to plan your trip here please feel free to ask me
  17. If I can give you some piece of advise, don't look only at flights... It's not that I don't want you or anyone to come to Switzerland, of course I'd be more than happy to welcome as many MFCers in my country as possible and seeing you again would make me very happy but I don't want you or anybody to have a bad surprise once here... Everything is quiet expensive in Switzerland: train, food, hotels etc. Especially in the area near Léman lake which is one of the most expensive part of switzerland (but also a really beautiful one I admit ^^). If you are on a low budget I would definitely recommend to have a look at hotels and trains before deciding to come or not, or maybe compare prices with the other festival in Estavayer where hotels etc may be cheaper than here
  18. Hello Noèmie and welcome on MFC
  19. Nanou

    Helloo !

Salut Marianne et bienvenue sur le MFC
  20. Such a great news :boing: Caribana is a small festival taking place very close to where the Paleo festival is (for the ones who came to Paleo and wants to have an idea of the place), which means very close to my place actually . I've never been there myself but always heard so many great comments about that festival, I'm really happy Mika is coming. Looks like even though Switzerland is a small country we are VERY lucky this year I'll give you more infos about the festival as soon as I could As if I'm not lucky enough, I have tickets to see Muse at sonisphere festival on saturday 6. The w-e is really going to be he best EVER for me
  21. I've been a Mikafan for many years now and I have to say that I'm always kind of shocked to see comments like yours Kezza... I was eating with Deb and Guylaine when Deb received the phone call telling her a M&G would take place. Therefore I saw how she stopped everything she was doing to get to the venue and learn more about it... i also saw how she tried to make sure everyone was aware of it before the show, even though she only had very little time to do so, and how worried she was to make sure everyone on the RSVP list would be allowed to get in... I saw how anxious she was the previous nights, hoping that a M&G would take place for everyone but not knowing if yes or no until the very last minute, nor how many people would actually be involved... and most of all I saw how Deb stayed at the back and did not even try to get close to mika or speak with him during the M&G... I admit it looks kind of unfair to me to blame the one person giving her personnal time and energy, already months before the shows, to make sure MFCers would get a chance to see Mika... Of course I can perfectly understand how disappointing it is not to be able to take part to a M&G as I've experienced it a few times myself. And I can also get how having a little "private" time with Mika in order to say thank you etc.. would be a dream coming true as I, like so many others, share this dream too. What I don't get is how one can blame someone else about that... I mean, we all know it's not smthg happening very frequently. That's just the way it is and it's not up to Deb or anyone here to change that...
