i had to read the whole book then analyse it... it kinda ruins the book...

i tried to put it into 1 sentence but it was a bit long....

Ralph summons the boys to meetings in a certain way; he blows air into a shell whhich is called a conch and emits a loud noise when someone blows air into it and the boys respond to the sound. The conch is a symbol of authority and also of order.
