  1. Now feeling really stupid - I got my email from the TF, but it says (if I'd actually read the 'Rules' properly, I would've known already and actually not applied in the first place) I'm not actually eligible for applying as I joined MFC after 1/7/09 (which is perfectly fair, absolutely no probs with that of course!!) What with all the excitement, I somehow didn't actually take that bit of the 'Rules' on board (D'oh!) - honestly, how could I not have realised that I couldn't apply? I scare myself sometimes. Apologies to the TF for sending in an ineligible entry - it was a genuine error on my part. Anyway, hope those of you who are definitely on the 'Guest List' have a wonderful 'golden' time, and look forward to when the Ticket Fairy next visits!
  2. Thank you Ticket Fairy for posting this opportunity! Would it be okay for me to apply, guys, I feel a bit cheeky when I've only been a member for a short time. Also, I did enter a draw for a ticket but as I haven't heard anything I'm assuming I haven't been lucky (I can't remember when they were going to announce if you are a winner - can't find the link anymore - it was on the iTunes website I think, and the winners would get a free night in a hotel and an ipod (!!) so I think they'll prob have been inundated with entries, so chances of winning prob very slim!!) Oooh, ooh, what to do? What to do???
  3. Thanks very much for your welcomes to the MFC, Harpreet and Neeve! Yes, Harpreet, 'Thriller' was really good fun - I really recommend it if you ever get the chance to see it. Of course, now that MJ is no longer with us, I guess tribute acts/shows like this will become even more popular as this will be the only way to experience the magic of MJ and the Jackson 5 "live". The actors and singers do replicate some of the legendary dance moves from his videos and shows. Neeve, like you I'm listening to MJ's music on my MP3 all the time, dancing around my kitchen. On the one hand I feel so happy when I hear it (because it makes me want to dance!) but on the other at the mo it just reminds me that he's gone and of what we've lost, so I feel sad too. I hope the admin guys at the MJJCommunity get back to you soon to sort out your prob with accessing the Forum!
  4. Hey Holly, thanks for the 'welcome to the MFC' message! Have added you as a friend, hope that's okay? (Sorry, still a bit new to this 'Forum' stuff!)

  5. Hey guys, I'm coming to this thread a bit late (as only just joined MFC), but just wanted to add my voice to the sadness everyone posting here feels about MJ's passing. I couldn't sleep the night he'd died, and I admit to having had a few tears. I just felt so saddened by his untimely passing and still do. Felt very emothonal about it for quite a while. I loved him both as part of the Jackson 5 and for his subsequent music; his music/singing, his dancing and showmanship were simply out of this world. Sadly, I've never been lucky enough to see him in a show. Really wanted to go to one of the O2 gigs, but the ticket prices I saw were really expensive. Did agonise over whether to just splash out for a once in a lifetime experience, afterall how often would one get the chance to see the legendary MJ? However, didn't actually get tix. Ironically, not long before he passed away, I posted on the Mikasounds website that I was going to see the tribute show 'Thriller - Live' and that was probably as close as I would get to ever 'seeing' 'MJ' as I couldnt afford the price of the tix to the "real thing" at the 02. (I did see 'Thriller' and it was fun, had me dancing a lot, but obviously no real comparison with the O2 concerts which would have been unbelievably amazing, I'm sure!!). I play his music now with a renewed sense of awe at just how incredibly talented he was. Janena, the incident you describe at the vigil is very moving - I'm sure it was his spirit too (and I'm really not one of those people who believe in that sort of thing normally). Thank you for posting about it and for the pix.
  6. 'Going To New York' by The New York Fund. Check them out, they're really good!
  7. Hey Ewokwicket, thanks for the welcome. Nice to know there's someone else here who (aside from the interest in Mika that we all have here!) is also skiing mad too!!
  8. Aww, thanks again, guys! Yes, Marilyn, (re the last paragraph of your post) I know what you mean, I'm also well past what one might assume to be the 'typical' age to be the (addicted!) fan of a popstar (and supposedly all that fangurly stuff!). But, as you say, Mika is no ordinary popstar. It's like he's got into my head and I feel 'rejuvenated' as a result! I'm now completely fangurly, but it's such fun feeling like this again that, hell, it must be right!! (BTW, I need to join the Oldlings Gang - how do I go about doing that??)
  9. 4th of August? That's forever away! (2 days away eh, Mika? That boy has an elastic sense of time!). But thank God it's before I'm away on holiday, phew!!!! Since Mika tweeted about 'censorship' being an issue with the vid I've been even more chomping at the bit to see it, hahaha! Thanx for posting - it's good to know when we'll finally be put out of our misery. Hope that those who can't get Channel 4 can see it somehow (live??) or very very soon afterwards by other means.
  10. Hi Nikjass, no, I'm ashamed to say that I don't speak Indonesian at all! Whenever I've been to Indonesia in the past my Mum has had to translate everything people said to me, or me to them (although most of my relatives over there, apart from my Grandmother who spoke to me in Dutch, which I also don't speak at all, thankfully do speak at least some English themselves)!! I'm sure that often people thought I was just being snooty or something when I looked blankly at them or said in a very English accent 'I'm sorry I don't understand'!!! But I really can't speak the language at all, just know a few words....
  11. Thanks, guys! Lovely to meet you all. It'll take me a while to get myself fully up to speed ie new avatar, siggie, loading pics etc. Need to have a go at it soon but I'm absolutely crap at anything techie so I may need to ask for help on how to do things (apologies in advance for being so inept!!)!
  12. Thank you so much everyone for your very warm welcomes! Let the fun begin!
  13. Hey everyone, I've been a 'lurker' on MFC for ages, but hadn't joined before now as I was concerned about spending too much time on here (to the detriment of everything else, too little time etc etc)...I know, what a fool! I guess, though, that I'd always known that eventually I'd join, it was always a case of 'when' not 'if', I've simply given in to the inevitable at last. I never was one to do things on impulse, LOL! Anyway, I have quite a bit of spare time at the mo. (peace reigns supreme in my house!) so decided this was the time to finally take the plunge. Very excited! How did I come to be obsessed with Mika? Well, it was relatively late - I caught a few secs of him on TV at the Brit Awards in early 2008 (yes, I know again, what planet was I on in 2007?! ) but actually didn't take much notice as I was doing something so wasn't giving my full attention. I do remember thinking though that he seemed very original, but thought anyone like that would be so full of himself and a real 'prima donna' (how wrong was I, he's such a sweetie!). Before that, strange but true, I hadn't actually even heard any of his music (although I'd heard his name). I then next caught a few mins of him performing (again on TV) at (I think it was) T on the Beach in June (?) 2008. I was walking through the sitting room while it was on TV, and something made me stop in my tracks and watch him, I just thought he was so different and really charismatic. I was mesmerised from that point. Later got 'LICM' and instantly fell in love with it. I looked him up on the internet and then joined the old website, and am obviously now a member on the new website. Since then, I have been a Mika-Addict. Just seen him live twice, at Sadlers this June and Latitude. Anyway, sorry, this has turned into an essay. About me, briefly, I am petite, am a 'mutt' (as Mika would say) being half English, half Indonesian, work in a school, love skiing (but rubbish at it), now really into music (having gone off music for many years "pre-Mika" as I found it so dull on the whole - since discovering Mika, it's like he's flicked a switch in my head and I've re-found my love of music, amongst other things). That's about it for now, before I bore you all to tears. I'm really happy to be here now and look forward to chatting with you all!
  14. Hmm, see what I mean about the 'techy stuff'? Sorry for the double posting, ooopsss...
  15. Hallo everyone, although I've been a 'lurker' on MFC for some time, I obviously haven't had access to all the facilities on here for members so it'll take me a while to find my way round this site and get myself 'settled-in' properly (also I'm rubbish at any techy stuff!). But it's lovely to be here!
