  1. The video is on mediafire thanks to DerMoment (I hope you don't mind that I post it here) http://www.mediafire.com/watch/dcl86381mo4rl31/Vid_o_Jenifer_Mika_Garou_et_Florent_Pagny_chantent_Queen_-_R.mp4
  2. The video of the 4 coaches singing 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is available http://www.metronews.fr/culture/video-the-voice-3-les-4-coachs-revisitent-bohemian-rhapsody-de-queen/mnai!YfjMOHnyyYbw/ I think not outside of France yet; but I hope someone will post it soon
  3. Exactly. There was an hour long interview of Fanny Ardant last Sunday on French TV and the journalist asked her about Mika's presence in the movie. She said it's because she acted in the EMD vid and she likes him, his humour.
  4. I got an invitation for Saturday but I can't go to Paris. If someone needs it just let me know before Friday
  5. Ahah I remember seeing such ads last year, I wondered if I would get to see one this year Oh and BTW yesterday I read that The Voice is the show for which the TV ads in between are the most expensive for all shows and channels in France...
  6. I agree with you. I think discussions deteriorate when there isn't much to say about what Mika is currently doing. But at least MFC is not dead and I'm sure we'll soon all have something concrete to talk about; and as you say I find it important that members continue posting reports, vids etc.
  7. Well if you need any help while you're learning French you know I'll be happy to help :wink2:

I think most people in France do know Mika indeed. He's always had a lot of radio airplay so they would have at least heard one of his songs. It's very probably going to grow now that he's a coach on The Voice here..

Don't feel sad about finding out about him only recently. I became a fan only after his 2nd album was released, so I've experienced only one real album release yet. I'm sure there are plenty to come :)

  8. Theoretically it's possible as I'm not working on these days but technically it's a bit complicated (and expensive ) You made me doubt a little though so I've registered in the hope of finding a solution If I definitely can't go, I'll leave my ticket to anyone who wants it
  9. Merci! Actually, I didn't register because I don't think I can afford to go to the show twice in such a short time But at least I'll see the show on TV on the 11th (is what I'm saying to myself to convince myself I won't be missing too much )
  10. Today I got my invitation for the last recording on Tuesday 14th! So happy I can go on a week day for once. Does anybody know more about the recording on Saturday 11th?
  11. Happy New Year to all MFCers! Hoping to meet many of you in 2014! May this year bring us many more magical moments with Mika
  12. You're welcome :wink2:

French is my mother tongue and I've learnt English since I was 10. After studying it further at the uni, I went to live and work as a French teacher in the UK. But I missed France too much so I came back home :biggrin2:

It still amazes me to be able to talk with someone living so far away too. Especially in the US as I would love to go there one day.. I'm pretty sure I will eventually, not so far from now :)

And the fact that we can talk about our favourite singer is the icing on the cake! I'm glad to see Mika getting some popularity in the US; he has been a big star in France since 2007 but I became a fan of his only in 2009.

  13. Oh I didn't see your message; if you want to post a reply on my profile you can click on 'view conversation'

Yes I'm in France, in the North really close to Belgium and not very far from the UK. I lived in the UK for 3 years a few years ago; I'm in love with the English language

  14. :bye:

    Thanks for the request!

If you want we can chat here or by PM :wink2:

So, where are you in the US?

  15. Welcome to the MFC! Like Muriel (macboll) I really like the way you found us! If you feel like chatting to some French ppl you know where to find us
  16. 2nd one How would you define coach Mika? I don't know. We shouldn't look at ourselves in the mirror too much, you know; it's dangerous. I can only say that I want to make TV as if I was in a studio with my musicians or in a pub with my friends. The problem is that it means that I forget the cameras so much that I let go a bit too much! How did the 3 other coaches welcome you? Really well! I had already met Jenifer and Garou with Les Enfoirés but I didn't know Florent Pagny. I love this man... even if he's not always easy! He's at the same time harsh and soft, clever and naive. We spend lunches teasing each other, and I love it! Who would you bring with you on holidays? Florent Pagny, because he always tells me what he really thinks, even if it's not necessarily positive. And even if I didn't ask him anything! I like his straightforwardness. At the beginning, it surprises. But eventually, it avoids misunderstandings. Who would deserve that you gave him an English lesson? Florent Pagny, because he's a real bastard! He's always correcting me with my French while he, when he sings in English, has the accent of my Lebanese grandmother... And moreover, he has the same hair as her! You get cross with one of them... Who would it be? Florent! Do you think I should go see a shrink? It looks like I'm falling in love! That's Freudian, isn't it? Maybe it means I want to marry my grandmother? You're ready for a shopping day. Who do you take with you? Garou, because I'd like to make him buy something other than jeans! You're having a heartbreak. Who do you confide in? Nobody. If I share everything, there will be nothing left for my songs... Tonight is going to be the night of all excess. Who do you share it with? I'm going to dance all night with Jen, because we have fun like crazy!
  17. Thanks for posting! I'm translating Mika's answers from both magazines. Here is the 1st one: Mika, did the coaches welcome you well? Wonderfully. It's funny because I feel completely at ease. Maybe it's because we're all different. Garou represents international solidity of French music, Jenifer is a strong personality and Florent is lyrical. How did TF1 convince you to be part of The Voice? When the directors of the channel asked me, I asked them why they needed me, when the show was doing very well. They answered 'because you write and make your albums'. Then, I thought they were sincere. So I said OK, as long as I can really be myself. I'm the kind of person to say bull****, swear words, and I know I'm sometimes too harsh. Despite this, they accepted. Mika, you're like the new showman, is that to compete with Garou? No, I'm not here for that. I'm like that in my life. When I act crazy, it's just because I'm at ease. Some words on the candidates' level? I already fell for 3 or 4 candidates. There is one candidate who particularly made me want to write songs for her. That's revealing. What kind of candidates can win you over? I'm looking for someone who can have a career. For me, the objective is to make an album that will deserve the audience's attention. I want strange and original voices, not just technique. A small assessment of 2013. Your biggest success? My independence. I didn't wait to be allowed to do things. I worked like crazy and I feel very free. Your resolutions? I would like to be more present for my relatives, but I don't know how to do. I'm an emigrant who comes from nowhere and everywhere. Now, the important thing for me is to be able to continue to write songs.
  18. I have to add the 2 winners out of the French Voice had amazing vocal abilities and are not successful here. On the contrary, some with a less impressive voice but more 'style' made it far in the game and some of them we still hear about from time to time. Now to look for 'The Voice' and come up with people who have a voice and a style is a contradiction in the show I agree, but I think that's how they want to make it work and how it's going to be this year, in Team Mika anyway...
  19. You're welcome Yes I think there was only one press conference and they're all choosing the important parts they want from it. But I also like to see the journalist's point of view (especially when it's so positive )
  20. I found a new article http://tvmag.lefigaro.fr/programme-tv/article/television/78978/mika%C2%A0(the-voice)-%C2%A0je-cherche-une-voix-interessante-mais-pas-parfaite%C2%A0.html Mika 'I'm looking for an interesting voice but not a perfect one' With millions of albums sold worldwide, Mika is an international star applauded by crowds of fans for his pop songs. By joining the coaches of The Voice, he is going to put his knowledge of music and singing in the service of the candidates while keeping his outspokenness and directness. He buzzes with his feet and walks on the armrests of the famous red chairs: Mika clearly can't stand still during the first blind auditions! 'The chair is not comfortable at all', he justifies. 'So yes, I do wander around.' Just before the release of his 3rd album, the artist had already been contacted for The Voice. Bad timing. He declined the offer. Now, he accepts first of all because he is free of all tours and finds the show 'credible'. This evening in November when the TF1 talent show was welcoming the press may not be at the image of the whole of the auditions. Still, it remains an indicator of Mika's personality. During that session, he hesitates, he stamps his feet, he doesn't often push the buzzer and regrets it immediately. 'I'm a bit confused by the fact that I don't see the people'. And strangely, when he pushes the button twice, he adds 'You didn't sing your song well'. What guides him in his choices? 'I'm looking for an interesting voice but not a perfect one. A voice that can get me excited as a songwriter. It's simple, it's instinctive. Not everyone can sing like Whitney Houston... Madonna has a more limited voice but which tells a story in a sublime way. In fact, we don't need other artists, we already have plenty. So how can we do? We need to find a timbre that nobody else has. In my opinion, a folk female singer can be needed. In French, there aren't really any. I would quite like to find a contemporary Françoise Hardy.' However, by experience, we know that the winners are systematically in the vocal performance. Mika sticks to his guns 'I think we can turn this idea upside down. I told the production I was not looking for an 'ATV' voice, that I would not lead it to the final' He concludes: 'I think that's why they took me'.
  21. I wish everybody a very merry Christmas and happy holidays! It's been a pleasure to meet so many of you this year and I hope to meet you again and many more in the future
  22. Strings are instruments with strings; violins, guitars, cello... There were violins on this version, maybe another instrument too, I'm not sure For the video I can't help you someone played it to me yesterday after he left but I'm not sure she's an MFCer...
  23. I see there are no reports from yesterday's recording yet... I hope I will manage to remember most of the things. We were quite a big group of fans (finally it was sorted out and everyone who wanted could get in despite the refused invitations) and I have to say we had a great view. Just good enough to see both the contestants and Mika. During the day other fans told me Mika would probably sing Underwater as it was announced in the shows recorded during the week. And indeed the first thing last night was Mika singing a magnificent version of Underwater with piano and strings, he did it twice and I think we all stopped breathing for these few minutes Off the record he said he was really happy that he was allowed to have the strings played because they don't usual want strings on TV shows. The show was good; once again we could see that Mika is very involved, for his team and for others', he always had a good analysis even if sometimes he struggles to go to the end of his ideas (but the other coaches do that as well) He chose a song by Radiohead and a song by Vanessa Paradis for his contestants last night. I liked both performances, I think it's safe to say they have a really good coach. Actually the 2 contestants that he didn't choose out of these 2 battles thanked him and said they learnt a lot with him, would have wanted to learn more. It also reminds me of people from the audience at the end whom I heard were saying that Mika was good, and that he missed his vocation, that he should have been a psychologist... He was in a good mood and as we reported in yesterday's fan meeting thread, Mika suddenly came to us during a short break and asked if the party was good. That was very kind of him and so unexpected to us After the show he also stopped a bit at the exit; he was in the car driven by Florent Pagny so it was funny to see fans of Florent on one side and Mika fans on the other (I'll let you guess on which side there were more fans ) He signed a few things and received a few gifts and when he saw some fans that he recognises well he thanked us for everything we have done and said it's beautiful to share these moments with us :wub2: (Thank you to the fan who had a video of that otherwise I would not remember what he had said ) It was really a wonderful day from the fan meeting to the actual show and the few minutes with Mika at the end. I can't wait to go back for other recordings and also to finally see what the show looks like on TV
  24. Thank you Mélanie for organising this event, it was really lovely and I confirm that I was very happy I still can't believe Mika came to us to say these few words. I didn't think first of all that he'd recognize we were all a group of fans and secondly I had no idea he would find out that we had a party. It was very sweet I think when we answered that we had had drinks he said 'ça se voit' ('I can see it')
  25. Here is the translation of the short interview How do you consider this season? I'm quite surprised because I feel at ease. I was a bit scared. I prepared myself watching the show at home and playing the game, I sat on a turning chair and I turned around when I could really feel something. So I tried to prepare myself but nothing can replace the experience, which is an experience I'm currently loving, it's cool. Being a coach in France, does it make you love our country more? Of course I love France more doing this but I already loved France because it's been a big part of my life since my childhood, and musically too, French musical culture is a part of my life but now I feel like I have something else in France to have fun with, and I like that a lot. I've got a new home in Paris, in France. What do you feel in this mythical chair? Being in this coach chair, this iconic chair is a strange responsibility. In fact, before going on the set I feel a lot of pressure but when I'm really on the set I forget everything, I even forget the audience, everything I see in front of me is the singer and the other coaches next to me and we're like in a living room or a rehearsal room and I don't know... I'm completely into it and I actually often forget that we're doing a TV show. Why should the contestants go to your team and not to the other coaches' teams? They should come to me because.. I want to work with talents who want to work tremendously. So that means if they don't come to me they just are lazy. If you had been a contestant, which song would you have sung? I would have sung a Bowie song. Because it transports people immediately almost on another planet and I think that's very important. We have 3 minutes to impress but above all to transport people. A message for the other coaches? Jenifer, Florent, Garou, I love you, we will go on holidays together, I will cook Lebanese for you, we will go on a road trip, we will write love letters to each other, we will make hot chocolate, but it's me this year. Beware. I'm here to steal Garou's crown. Because he looks too comfortable in his chair.
