  1. It was the French radio RFM. I don't usually listen to that one, but I randomly heard we could vote for Mika. It was 63% for the Beatles when I started voting, and after 30 minutes Mika won with 61% My only regret is that they didn't play any new song, they played love today, big girl and relax.
  2. My mum, watching Mika on French tv a while ago "How did he manage to get perfect hair and teeth like this? Life's unfair"
  3. Yay so happy too! And if I'm not mistaken, it was double platinum at the end of October, so it's probably much more than 200 000 sold in France by now
  4. Here are some charts updates from http://www.chartsinfrance.net TBWKTM France #25 Belgium #28 Spain #44 UK #45 Netherlands #56 Switzerland #60 Rain France #5 Italy #12 Spain #22 Netherlands #24 Belgium #28 Switzerland #33 UK #72 WAG is still #37 in Italy and #67 in France
  5. YKYAMFW you spend 30 minutes voting on the internet so that a French radio show plays 3 Mika songs in a row! Yay I made him win, 61% against the Beatles
  6. Thanks for posting!! I had been waiting for this. I was so scared it was not doing well in France! Now I feel much better
  7. Blue Sky, I'm new here but have been on MFC quite a lot for the last few days (weeks? i don't even know it's too addictive ) and I have to say from my point of view it is obvious that you are of great importance for this website. I don't really know what happens when meeting or not meeting Mika as I've never even seen him in concert, but I understand your disappointment. With all the effort you put in here I have no doubt that one day it will pay off. I don't get what happened on the japanese website but I can tell you these jealous people are not real fan. I can't wait to see Mika for the first time but it doesn't mean I hate everybody who has already seen him or meets him quite regularly. On the contrary, their (your) reports are even more important. So, thank you!
  8. Lol! I read that two days ago! I was sure a MFC member was behind all this! Well done and thanks!
  9. According to a French radio show, Rain is #20 of the songs which are most played on their stations across Europe(I think it includes 8 countries) So it does get played
  10. I always thought British people had very good taste in music. How come a major artist like Mika could not interest them?
  11. I agree with you Caz (Hi by the way, I can see you post quite a lot, I'm new here). I already said that I feel there was a mistake in the promotion of the album, that even as a Mika admirer I had not really noticed when TBWKTM had been released. Ok that's fine because I got to notice at last, bought it and I feel like a fan now, but still, where was he this whole time? Well, on tour I guess.
  12. Oh gosh this thread just made me realise how popular Mika is in France. Almost every time I go out shopping I hear one of his songs. This week the whole new album was on in a shop. I remember hearing Happy Ending too. But I can't even recall all of them!
  13. I speak French, English, Spanish, some German, a little bit of Italian and a tiny tiny bit of Chinese.
  14. I've got to say there must have indeed been a mistake in promoting the album, as I'm a new fan (even though I loved Mika and LICM already in 2007), and I kind of only realised the album had been released when I heard Rain on the radio. I mean, I knew it was going to be out as I had heard WAG all summer, but then when you're not a complete fan you don't always check release dates etc. It was easy to miss it even for Mika admirers.
  15. 22 in France?? Oh I'm so disappointed! I don't know if French people have "moved" on, I certainly haven't as I kind of went back to him with this second album. I'm going to see him for the first time this year, and well, I'm now a MFC member. And on a positive note, I do feel like Rain is being played on more radios since the last few days. And not only pop rock ones, but all the others mentioned too. I had a try at it yesterday, within 15 minutes I heard Rain twice and Mika mentioned once in an ad.
  16. Hi Roxy! Just wanted to say, you do need to add an extra 'ni', books are often wrong.. And I wonder, was your question actually about whether you need the plural form or not? Like sifflera/siffleront? If so, I've got to say I'm not sure of the answer.. but i would use the simple form "sifflera" etc. Hope it helped xx
  17. I'm really angry about that coffee thing. Can't believe such idiots exist. I mean, I do know a LOT of people are dumb, but tweeting somebody just to be mean?! i don't get it.
  18. I love this article! Thank you! 'in France he tops the charts' i know it but so proud it's said in other countries
  19. You know you're a Mika fan when you stay 45 minutes in a shop you're not even interested in just because it's Mika's album on!
  20. Hi Ruth! I'm new here, I'm French and as I said in my introduction I would love to help anybody with French work or translation in French/English. I'm not one of the teachers in this thread but I guess I can help anyway. So, about your work, first of all well done you are really good at French! If you don't mind I'll give you some advice on some bits of your text. In the first part when you say "je suis très contente" I think you want to say "I was happy" so "j'étais très contente". Then "il est un jeune homme", you'd rather say "c'est un jeune homme". it sounds more natural. "depuis neuf ans" would be "pendant neuf ans" (depuis means since and pendant means for). "grand et mince" is fine. "lebanese" = libanaise. for "friendly", you could put "amical" or "aimable". you can say "fans" for "fanatiques". "things I loved about my husband" = les choses que j'aimais chez mon mari "when we met" = quand nous nous sommes rencontrés (we use "être" not "avoir") "tall, dark, handsome" maybe grand, beau, ténébreux? I love how you talk about him by the way! You're a real fan! and so lucky to have met him 5 times! Hope this was useful xx
  21. What a warm welcome! I feel like I'm gonna spend some time here I discovered Mika back in early 2007, immediately bought his album and loved it. Then I don't know how it happened but I kind of took everything for granted and although I kept listening to his songs, I did not look for more about him. Then when TBWKTM was released and I saw him back on TV (speaking French ) I became even more interested and now I can't get enough of himmm! and his music. so here we are that was quite long
  22. Hello everybody! I'm Camille. I'm so glad I joined you; this is my first post but I did have a look at your discussions and I can't wait to take part in them. Also, I'm French and would like to help all of you translate whatever you need in French/English. Ask me and I'll do my best. Hope to read something from you soon
