Where was the UK version supposed to take place? The US version was *supposed* to be in Pittsburgh (my hometown) but I'm sure it was filmed elsewhere. Still I always like to see them pretend to be in my working class town... Where can I find out about the UK version? The US version started off based on the UK version but made some major changes (including setting, character names, ages, personalities, filming style, etc.) and ran for 5 seasons. The UK version was set in Manchester if I remember correctly. US version was filmed in Toronto because it was cheaper there. So, coming from Pittsburgh, tell us... is there really a Liberty Avenue? I never knew! And Manchester would make sense -- from what I understand it's working class like Pittsburgh. And yes! There is a Liberty Avenue! It used to be pretty sleazy, with "exotic" dance clubs, x-rated "peep" shows, etc. but it has cleaned up its act in recent years.
