The Kooks have begun working on the follow up to their second album Konk.

The Brighton-formed band have taken a break from touring but will play gigs in the UK this summer.

Lead singer Luke Pritchard recently performed a solo gig at the Put People First G20 protest march in London.

He told Newsbeat: "We kind of barricaded ourselves in the countryside for a few weeks - stayed at some friend's who have a cottage in Norfolk."

Explaining the sessions he added: "[We've] Just been rehearsing and writing new stuff.

"I feel really fresh about the band - I guess generally we're still just such friends. It's cool, we've just been having fun really."

:stret cher: :cryba by: :stret cher: :cheerf ul_h4h: Give me the third album and then kill me :cheerf ul_h4h:.

ooh is their next album coming soon? :cheerful_h4h: or no?

No idea! I just read that they were going to write/demo/record and release something after their tour and that Luke has already written a lot of new songs. There was an interview with Paul where he said that I guess!

Last year Bianca found some fantastic interviews with Luke & Hugh which weren't on Youtube:

However, one can't download them via RealPlayer but I found the flv-files in my temporary internet-files on my computer. The interviews are really fantastic :stretcher:; I've never heard Hugh talk so much / Luke being so honest :naughty:. They are good!

Basically I just installed google desktop and when I wanted to try it out I

needed something to google for and I took "The Kooks" and.. uhm, that's it

basically. So I just ended up picture-googling for The Kooks. :naughty:

Haha, that reminds me of something that happened last year at work: I

screwed up this bonus-card thingy my workcolleague had and she was

extremely angry :crybaby: which was pretty ****ing devastating :crybaby:

and the she later sent me an email saying that she had overreacted and she

included a picture of Luke :cheerful_h4h:

and Bianca and I had never seen it and it finally turned out that my colleague

had just googled for "Luke Kooks". It was so easy and despite that

Bianca and I had no freaking clue where she had got it from.

:lmfao:!!!!!!!!

"Luke Pritchard and the lads walked on stage with polite waves. Luke, dressed in his trademark skinny jeans and baggy white shirt, smiled coyly to the phalanx of girls at the front screaming his name. The band immediately launched into the appropriate “See the World,” a tried and tested crowd favorite, delivered with aplomb. Though energetic, the members did not seem as frenzied as in previous tours; not even one stage dive from Luke this time around. Replacement bassist Dan Logan, who is filling in for recently departed Max Rafferty, played like he has been a member of the band from the very start.

Overall, the Kooks played a technically perfect set. Fresh from the recording studio and sharp because of it, Luke’s voice was powerful, yet still possessed a fragile, youthful quality. The new songs mark a transition from indie pop to more beefed-up, ballsy rock. In “Do You Wanna (Make Love to Me),” Luke came straight out with it: “Do you wanna, do you wanna make love to me,” he sang, channeling Jim Morrison’s ghost. And as guitarist Hugh Harris rocked out like a mad metal axeman, the cool reserve of the L.A. crowd melted away, with fans shouting, “Yes, we wanna!” (I'm not sure if I've ever really seen Hugh rocking out like a mad metal axeman though :lmfao::cheerful_h4h: )

The Kooks have always possessed varied musical influences. “Time Awaits” begins as bluesy rock and then segues via The Clash into Police-style reggae, complete with Luke’s Sting-like vocals. The song then finishes with yet another virtuoso rock guitar solo by Hugh." (:das:)
