englishrose Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 This man means so much to me. I grew up listening to a poor-quality, burnt cassette of his album Grace that my mum would play constantly, and it always gave me the shivers. It still does, every single time. He had so much soul. I would give everything I own to be able to see him live, but sadly he died... Grace was on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 best albums of all time, and his cover of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' was a big radio hit. He is certainly one of my huge inspirations and role models. Love him or hate him, come and chat about him and his music in here...
xx_emily_x Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 i absolutely love his music! someone recommended his cd to me while i was working part time in a cd shop. yes, and i agree, everytime i listen to his music, it gives me the shivers my favorite song is 'lilac wine' & 'forget her'
Haeschen02 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Unfortunately I only know Hallelujah but that is one of the most amazing songs I have ever heard. Awesome. What is his other music like?
Diana Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 A friend of mine is obsessed with him and he just recently introduced me to Jeff's music. Very, VERY nice music indeed.
Mary Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 I looooooooooooooove Jeff! Grace is one of my fave albums EVER!
iadoremika Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 One of my teachers somehow know that I really love Mika *confused look* don't ask me how...hehe But anyways, that teacher recommended Jeff Buckley to me and now I own his "Live at Sin-e" CD/DVD set...I was going to get "Grace" (I mean, I know it's the one that he's most well known for but the songs on "Grace" were included on the CD/DVD) but then decided that I would but the set instead...
englishrose Posted May 8, 2008 Author Posted May 8, 2008 Unfortunately I only know Hallelujah but that is one of the most amazing songs I have ever heard. Awesome. What is his other music like? Amazing. Hallelujah is gorgeous...the rest of his music is lyrical, soulful and poetic, in the same vein as Hallelujah, but never repetetive. iadoremika Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Yeah, but I can't get there very often...I'm sure Amazon has it too. I just need to convince my mum to let me use her credit card. I found this on Youtube...made me smile... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mgrj-tEJzDI&NR=1 That's too bad. Hmm...I've never bought anything from Amazon, in fact, I've never bought anything off the internet before... Watched that clip...it was AWESOME. I thought it was lovely how his secretary lady said that he was in a meeting but then put the phone aside and asked him if he was in a meeting and then he took the call. And the performance was really well done...sounded amazing, even over the phone!!! The ending was good as well...hehe

englishrose Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 Just bumping another thread...A very nice one, I must say! Jeff rules! Seeing this thread again made me happy *brushes off dust* I LOVE his version of Hallelujah It's beautiful. My friend's father was Jeff Buckley's best friend in high school, but after high school they didn't keep in touch. WHAT. Tell me more! (Anyone heard of the '6 degrees of separation' theory?? This brings it to mind!) I don't know Tim's work very well, just a few songs. Do you recommend any? I'd reccomend 'Buzzin' Fly' and 'Troubadour'. Those two are my favourites. What about his cover of "Hallelujah"? I like it. It's gorgeous...it made Rolling Stone's Top 500 Songs of All Time...
