I feel this place should be the antidote for some of the other threads on this site at the moment!

 

I didn't go to a gig this week.......didn't go to a meet and greet........didn't say hi to my inspiration.........didn't get to get a photo (or not!) with him......etc......

 

I don't feel any less in awe of his creativity and talent.

 

He's still my No1. :wub2:

 

Same here.. and I still feel the same way about him :bleh: Heck.. I feel like this is just the beginning of a very long Mika adventure :original:

INo one writes like Mika. No one puts quite the time and effort into shows like Mika - inflatable pizza, anyone? No one else sings in Mika's rich, full voice - that voice that's like the most decadent chocolate espresso swirl, perfectly satisfying yet not too sweet, hitting just that one spot that only he can hit. No one else can replicate that mindblowing falsetto that makes the tiny hairs on the back of my neck stand up. No one smiles like Mika. No one thinks, dreams and performs like Mika. No one else has created such a magical world that has linked friends and opened hearts and bewitched souls in every corner of our planet.

 

I still think that for all the thousands of years of human history, we're pretty freakin' lucky to be witnessing this amazing man's amazing rise to fame.

To come back to the poll about Mika.. I dont think the forum is too negative. What I do witness- being just a tiny rookie- is that a lot of threads that started off to be about Mika turn into OT conversations between users, which makes it really difficult for new members to get involved. I guess that is the reason why there are so many people that just lurk around here and never post :shocked:

I know...........I try not to voice my opinion too much but sometimes I just have to have my say and as someone who is a very strong charater it usually provokes a strong response from others.

 

We have been repremanded by Robertina :blink: (rightly so!) so I am trying extra hard now to not post when I'm really angry!

 

I hope us bitter, long term MFCr's don't ruin your experience on here too much! :naughty:

Second, just post even though topics may seem OT. There are always people on topic anyways and we try hard to make everyone feel welcome:thumb_yello:

Part of the problem now is that Mika has not been doing much over the past 4 months and until he starts releasing new music and planning a proper tour we won't see a lot of interviews and the kind of information that was flowing around this time in 2007.

 

Because of that a) there isn't a lot to talk about with regards to Mika and b) the people who tend to frequent the forum at a time like this are people who have bonded with each other and don't just come here to read up on Mika.

 

Once Mika gets into the full swing of things later this year or early next there will be a lot of threads on news articles and the like that will tend to stay more on topic and give new people a chance to have their ideas heard.

 

In the meantime everyone should feel free to jump into the off topic conversations. We're kinda bored and like to see new people! :wink2:

haha don't worry I will still try to post on here as much as possible. A couple of days ago I posted a picture in the Amsterdamgig thread for the people that weren't there but I felt like I was more intervening a very important discussion between posters than sharing pictures/ideas/experiences. Personally im like a bad weed, I will stay as long as I wish but i can imagine others feeling really intimidated. When I was 14 I was very active on a Buffy the vampire forum (I know-dont ask) and there were alot of people that I didnt like and i can imagine it must be hard to not respond if you dont agree with something and that is very easy to fall into an OT-convo and if you know all the users its okay but if youre new...it might be experienced as intimidating.

 

Besides that, Ingie, i have to agree with you that there are enough posters who make me feel welcomed... nice feeling- thank you :blush-anim-cl:

Yeah I think it's important to welcome new members. I've signed up for a forum (not Mika) after I had spent here almost a year and they ignored me totally, it was all just inner circle and that's why I left there. I was used to the hospitality on here when I first joined when everyone was so welcoming. I'm not gonna post just to be treated like I'm cold air. So yah and welcome to the Mika Madness! Just keep up a couple of months and you'll see the explosion of magazine scans, news articles, bitching over bad reviews etc. etc.:punk:

You're not going to be able to change your username. You might want to create a new account now while you still have a low post count. You could put "the artist formerly known as Jennifer Noble" in your custom user title so we know who you are. :wink2:

hahaha yea especially because everybody already knows me here (ahem). Oh well I'll just have to live with the fact that I have a boring nickname since I have only one email address. Oh well at least I like my name-could have been a lot worse since my mom wanted to call me Ulrike- , guess thats a plus.
