G is Santo Nino Statue from the Philippines

Here's a quote

"The statue itself, a replica of which will be at the St. Mary's celebration, is a 2-foot tall smiling child dressed in regal robes and crown. He holds the earth in his left hand, while his right hand forms a gesture of peace. He is considered the Divine Protector of the Philippines"

I've just checked the image here with the "Bambino Di Praga" referenced on the front page. They are very similar images, but totally different parts of the world  On reflection, my link refers to a wooden statue, and this picture doesn't look like a statue. I'm confused

A candidate for K - Santo Nino de Atocha

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santo_Ni%C3%B1o_de_Atocha

And another

http://atcc-torcc.org/ninoatocha.htm

I can't see all the detail on the bracelet - it seems to have the staff, but I can't see the basket

I like this chap - " El Santo Nino de Atocha is the patron saint of those unjustly imprisoned. He also protects travelers and rescues people in danger."

And you can even get the T - shirt :)

I used to sing a French carol "Il est nee, le Divin Enfant" :biggrin2:

Exactly!

Il est ne, le divin Enfant,

Jouez, hautbois, resonnez, musettes

O Jesus! O Roi tout puissant!

Tout petit enfant que vous etes,

O Jesus! O Roi tout puissant!

Regnez sur nous entierement!

Was that it?

J is 'Divino niño'.

I'm not sure how it's called in English. But here's a picture.

divinonino.jpg

That's it almost. The hair is more brown on the bracelet. But I think that's going to be a close enough match.

That's it. Well done!

Very interesting reading , so its not the baby jesus but the divine child and thats expressed as an image

That's what interests me Freds. How it's the same but slightly different in other countries.

More on Our lady of Grace and the Miraculous medal

Added to the first post!

This is fun..

When my dad comes back I'll try to figure out the others. I think A is a saint but I'm still trying to find out who it is.

L is not just Jesus Christ, it's the Sacred Heart of Jesus *That's my school.*.

A reminds me of Florence Nightingale - The lady with the lamp.

Thank you for L!

Yes, that's the picture. Except on the bracelet it is reversed. So I assume that F (The Virgin Mary/Our lady of Grace) could be either as well.

 That's brilliant.

You're right about it being the Immaculate Conception. But the picture isn't quite a match, but I think close enough. Could it also be called the Assumption though?

we have gone very far in this!

bravo!

i've learnt a lot of new things!

We have! I'm enjoying it.

and just in case you want to buy a bracelet

I think I have seen it called the assumption as well. The trouble with the internet is that it is not 100% reliable - a lot of these sites are run by enthusiasts and some people are going to make mistakes - I don't think it matters much though.

I'm enjoying it too - it's a challenge. I can't find anything on A - I've tried every combination of Jesus/Mary/saint/torch/blindfold to no avail!

Also H- clearly Jesus, but what are the three things on his head which look a bit like a halo?

I'm off to bed - will search again tomorrow

about jesus's halo i've found this in wikipedia:

per Gesù si usa un'aureola nella quale è inscritta una croce, di solito rossa. In genere se ne vedono solo tre bracci, quello inferiore essendo coperto dal collo e dal busto.

translation:

usually a cross shaped halo is used for Jesus, often a red one. You can see only three arms over four, the fourth being behind neck and shoulders.

Immaculate Conception (the virginity of Mary as a dogma) is a dogma proclaimed by the Pope in 1854. We celebrate this dogma on dec 8th (national holiday! fancy you!). The traditional icon of this can be seen in the Virgin of Lourdes images.

The Assumption of the Virgin is another dogma asserting that she was taken into heaven with all her body, and she literally was lifted in heaven as Jesus was. We celebrate this on august 15th, national hols too, linked to summer holiday period from work.

consequently the icons are different, and ispired different works of art and imagery.
