HOW TO DRAW MIKA - step by step

ok this is me trying to draw Mika, at step 2

 

(just a warning: it looks horrible)

 

 

 

the eyes, nose and mouth are all wrong

(and without doubt many other things about this drawing)

 

 

what i want to know is this, does anyone think i can salvage this, or should i just start over again

 

and another question, when at step 3 you do the details with some sort of darrkening several areas, how do you do that, seems i'm struggling very hard with those things

I think that you should start again.

It´s good, but proportions are wrong.

I used to make it like this:

I calk/retrace "easy lines" from original picture, when i didn´t know how to start..

And then i trained shadows, shadows, shadows..

Sometimes I trained just those lines, and i didn´t continue in pic...

You don´t have to do everything correct, you can lie, it´s allowed

but when i see your mouth, or nose, or eyes.. it´s good

edit: and mayb it's a good idea to retrace easy lines, the first couple of times so i can get the hang of proportions and stuff, (i've neverr drawn portraits before, i've started just a few weeks back trying to draw a portrait from a how to learn to draw book

 

one day i'll get there, .... i hope

me too I did it last time. I started on doing that

My 2nd attempt is done but I don't like it I think it doesn't look like Mika

and ignore the thing on his nose, I was a bit too enthusiastic with the eraser and the paper was my victim

not too fast, i'm a working girl now, only have the chalked lines so far i'm afraid i won't be able to do anymore this evening, had a rough day, maybe i can continue my drawing tomorrow (i hope so anyway) but it won't be finished for long i'm afraid

i think i'll have lots of problems doing the hair and the shadows, am wondering how i can do shadows, hope it'll work

My god, I think I've been using a very very wrong pencil

You know that my drawings and my shadowing were always kind of 'lines' well, I accidently bought a 2B/ HB and B pencil and I'm using the 2B for the shadowing and It's working so much better!
