MIKA ON MAY 21 TO CELEBRATE GAY MARRIAGE

The singer Mika will be the head of a poster free concert on May 21 in Paris to celebrate the law on gay marriage and reaffirm the importance of the fight against homophobia, announced Wednesday Inter LGBT (Lesbian , Gay, Bi and Trans).

The Franco-British artist who has made public his homosexuality last September, will occur on the Place de la Bastille in the "concert for" planned 7:00 p.m. to 0:00 in a "festive and protest" spirit, said Nicolas Gougain, spokesman for the Federation of the main associations of defense of gay rights.

 

The concert was originally scheduled for 17 May, World Day against homophobia, but had to be shifted to practical issues. It will now take place five days before a national demonstration by opponents of the law opening marriage and homosexuality to same-sex couples.

"We continue to occupy space and express ourselves,"

commented Nicolas Gougain.

For him, also the celebration of the adoption of the said Taubira law, it is to continue efforts against homophobia which, according to the Inter LGBT "violently expressed in recent weeks" and recall battles to come: "rights of transsexuals, PMA (assisted reproduction) and fight against discrimination."

The law was finally adopted by Parliament on 23 April but parliamentarians have right before the Constitutional Council has one month to decide.

In the meantime, opponents continue to press against the first social reform Francois Hollande. Sunday again, tens of thousands of people marched in several cities of France to demand the withdrawal of the text.
