1. Us Brits pop everywhere. We pop to the loo. We pop to the shops. All we know is that a pop is quick.
2. I just wanted to add my 2 cents. First off thanks so much for Mika, team Mika and the mods here. It really was a lovely gesture. Due to work commitments I couldn't queue as early as others and therefore had major issues in the queue. We queued for about 1 1/2hr and as Sara said they announced that Mika would be leaving in 10 minutes and at this point I really thought that we wouldn't get to see him. The pushing and shoving was horrendous and the door staff really had no clue. It really reminded me of the Brighton centre (if you've been there). When we were squashed like sardines the girl in front of me sparked up a cigarette (really not the done thing whilst queuing). Luckily we did eventually get in. I had a little chat with Mika and he signed my swatch card. My voice always goes high and I sound like a drooling idiot when I speak to him but we chatted about how it's been such a long time since we've seen each other etc. really lovely So we went to party and spoke to ingie and Luke and got a drink- thanks Mika As Sara said there was no where to sit as we arrived at about 7pm so we stood in the corner out of the way. Mika arrived and said hello to everyone. He was given a glass if champagne and said he wanted to get a beer, it looked like he wanted to go to the bar but then the mob started. He still had his coat on. He said a little speech about how he was making up it to the uk fans- hopefully someone will have this on video. He tried to walk around the room and speak to everyone but the mob followed. We didn't get to speak to him to say thank you as he left after about 5 mins. I felt quite upset that I didn't get the chance to say thank you to him on my home turf. It really was a lovely thing to do. We left early as it's a school night and had a long journey home. It was nice to catch up with Silver and Kath and for Rose pointing at me and saying she was still on a look out for a pineapple hat:naughty: Attached is a pic of the party. Mika is in there somewhere. I think it would be perfect for Bab's album.
3. Six years ago a young man named Mika won the BBC Sound Poll 2007. This led me here. I waited a day before I joined as I thought I was far too old (28) to join a fan club. 6 years later I have had some awesome times with the amazing friends that I've made through this motley crew. Keep spreading the Mika love:mikalove:
4. Talking of swearing in songs, you should have seen my face when I first heard the explicit version of 212 by Azealia Banks. I had only ever heard the radio edit and was in my own niiave little world. I've never heard so many ****s in one song.
5. Oh dear it's got more sweetener than Diet Coke. And this girl has totally ruined one of my teenage angtz songs "What's up" by Four Non Blondes in that video. If I wanted to be a teenage fairy princess I would totally wear that pink dress though:mf_rosetinted:
6. Deb I bloody love you:mikalove: What a lovely sweet video. Loved it:wub2:
7. Re: the pissed thing. It was exactly like Christine said, he was talking about being drunk. This was before love you while I'm drunk btw:wink2:
8. I'm sorry I have a life. I love mika but I also love my home and lifestyle that my job pays for and I was working. I didn't find out about this gig till the Tuesday and it was too late, especially as I didn't have a ticket. Who wants to pay for their travel into London to stand in the freezing cold for 5 hours on the off chance that mika might say hi? That is ****ing nuts.
9. Yep. I really enjoyed the interview. Mika and Graham obviously get on really well and I thought this was great promo for the album. Did he almost say that he was going to Iceland tomorrow but stop himself? Maybe he's going early now that Glasgow is cancelled. That wreath is beautiful IMO. Really Christmasy. What a lovely present to receive.
10. I would love to hear Overated or Kids live. With the last album tour he did loads of songs from it ( not all of them good) so I don't understand not including more from this album. It just doesn't make sense to me.
11. There were lots of posts that I wanted to quote but for now I will just pick these ones about his performance. Now I'm going to compare this to my favourite chocolate brand Cadbury's. I have always bought and enjoyed this brand of chocolate, especially Dairy Milk. I know exactly what to expect from this quality product. Cadbury's may come out with new chocolate bars which I will try and enjoy but I always go back to Dairy Milk. If I bought a bar of Dairy Milk which wasn't up to the high quality I expect I'm going to be disappointed and complain. I'm sure Cadbury's won't respond with "We're very sorry but you have been spoiled in the past with out excellent chocolate. This is just the way it is, get over it". I feel it's very important to have constructive criticism, how else can you improve? Thursday was such a big let down for me. I have followed MIKA for nearly 6 years and he has always been consistent. This is why I am disappointed. You kind of know what you're going to get at a MIKA gig. I am normally on such a high. The girls in my office yesterday knew something was wrong as they expected me to be beeming. Re the French stuff. 6 years ago I heard a British guy singing an English song on the radio. I then found out all this other stuff about him on the journey and it was exotic and new and I loved it all. I've been to France to see him and don't mind him speaking French because that's what I expect, even though I don't understand a bloody word. This is also the main reason I don't go to French gigs anymore but if I go back I would expect him to sing in French. I have also seen him in many other countries and he always tries to speak the local language. Now I haven't got a foggiest about what he is talking about but it's what I expect. What I expected on Thursday is not what I got. This is why I was frustrated. I like watching forgein films, The Hate is a particular favourite of mine. I enjoy some forgein music but then I'll know what to expect. I want to understand what MIKA is saying. Him singing in French at a British show is not what I expect. I want the British MIKA who I first fell in love with 6 years ago. The one who says trousers, munter and braces. I'm just gutted.
12. Happy ending is the song that all his fans know and they could have sung it. He sang stardust which I imagine is difficult to sing and it sounded great. I've never heard that 1st French song and glad that it will be one time only:mf_rosetinted:
13. I'd like to add to what Sara posted. I was down stairs at the side of the stage. I thought it was really strange that he sung that French song at the beginning. It soon livened up and I was dancing away but MIKA seemed very luck lustred and seemed to rush the songs- he only sang half of stuck in the middle?!? I thought his voice was wonderful on stardust but wish he would sing the album version as to me it's more MIKA. The choir for me didn't add anything. They were all out of sync with each other and I thought it was awful. I've seen infant school chiors do a better job. No offense if you were in it but its just my opinion. I'm absolutely gutted he sang Elle me dit instead of Emily. This was London not Paris. 2 French songs. I'm not sure why but this made me feel quite angry. It ruined the gig for me. MIKA really wasn't himself. He wasn't very chatty and told someone who through something on stage that it was crap. I thought that was kind of rude. I'm sure not many would notice that he wasn't on form but I have seen him loads and it just didn't feel right. I'm also gutted that he didn't play happy ending which IMO is his best song. I've always loved singing along to it. I thought it was strange that he chose toy boy as an encore. He should have sang grace Kelly at the end. Anyway I went to the stage door to wait for him and security came out and said that MIKA was going to be hours as he was attending his afterparty. I made the decision to leave as it was freezing and nearly 11pm. I heard that he didn't come out till after 1am. I hope everyone who waited got home back to their hotels ok as the tube shuts at 12ish. So I know this sounds very down and I know others thought it was wonderful but it really wasn't for me. So much for his big suprise in London. I'm really gutted.
14. Unfortunately this is the same date as my company's christmas do. A Greek restaurant in westcliff on sea won't be quite the same as a Mika gig but I'll have an ouzo or 2 to make up for it.
15. I really liked this from the listening session. Mika and wicked= AMAZEBALLS IMO. My inner gay boy loves this, I love a bit of camp and I think it's brilliant. I can't wait for the album now.
16. I don't want to burst anyone's bubble but heaven has a reputation for prioritising members, regular Saturday night G.A.Y. clubbers and gay patrons. This is not a gig, it's a club night. I think you would might feel silly queuing up early and or getting turned away. I also don't think the regulars would appreciate fan gurls standing at the barriers waiting:mikalove: There are lots of other proper gigs to go to where you will get in, so personally I'm waiting for RoundHouse. I'm local (well a train journey like Laurel) and the first time I saw Mika was at a gay club night ( not this one) and I'm staying away. Let the regulars have their night. Let them fan gurl
17. I hope you are all having a lovely time, despite the weather. Looking forward to reports:D
18. Are there any versions of the interview? I know this is massive favour to ask but could anyone do a transcript?
