  1. Oh absolutely, Sou! I hate to say this, but I bought my first Proclaimers *cassette* back in the mid-1980s at Tower Records in London! Been a fan ever since. As for the rest of Mika's playlist, I quite like all the tunes except I'm not familiar with the Nina Simone song. How did I miss that one? Guess I'll have to go have a listen... dcdeb
  2. They're on page 4 of this thread here: http://www.mikafanclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2538&postcount=25 dcdeb
  3. You could be right -- I'm not sure, so that's why I have a question mark there I listened to that part over and over and I can't really see his mouth at that point to be sure. I'll just have to wait until I see him live to see if I can figure it out dcdeb
  4. Thanks for this! I don't think you're *really* off, but I've been listening too and think maybe I have a few corrections, or suggested possibilities... Holy Johnny I think it's actually "My mate Johnny's a looker" It's definitely Holy Ghost This where I think I can fill in some. To me it sounds like: My mate Johnny's a preacher He's holy as they come He said follow the lord and the lord'll be good and then he started callin' me son For God? was good to poor old Johnny He hid his life behind the walls of religion But what was left was not so funny Cuz i lost my friend to his newfound position So... just to recap, I think we have pretty much the whole thing now, maybe a word or two off? I'll put the whole song, as we have it here: Holy Johnny My mate Johnny's a looker His habit is a one night stand He would walk the streets in the usual way O what a pretty man My mate Johnny was a lover He fell for the girl next door She said Johnny I can't be with you You're pretty but you're also a bore Finding love was not so easy Cuz people thought that he was too peculiar So what was left for poor old Johnny At least he found out that Jesus loves ya Holy Well he once was a whore Now he's a priest at 24 Cuz he's holy And he wanted the most Now he's left with Holy Ghost I prayed for Johnny but now Johnny prays for me I prayed for Johnny but now Johnny prays for me My mate Johnny's a preacher He's holy as they come He says follow the lord and the lord'll be good And then he started callin' me son For God? [i think] was good to poor old Johnny He hid his life behind the walls of religion what was left was not so funny Cuz I lost my friend to his new-found position Now he's holy when he once was a whore now he's a priest at 24 Cuz he's holy What he wanted the most now he's left with holy ghost I prayed for Johnny but now Johnny prays for me I prayed for Johnny but now Johnny prays for me I prayed for Johnny but now Johnny prays for me dcdeb
  5. There's most of them here, just posted today: http://www.mikafanclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=116084&postcount=121 I'll have to listen a few more times to see if I can fill in the blanks. dcdeb
  6. I imagine you're right about that, Shontih, but I didn't see any additional dates added today -- and I was scouring the 'net. I have to go to WDW sometime this summer, and I was thinking he might swing through Orlando at some point, and wouldn't it be cool if I could see him twice in one month? When I was down there last weekend, I stopped in at the Virgin Megastore they have in Downtown Disney -- they had a HUGE LiCM poster behind the cash registers so I asked the cashier if Mika was coming to their store, like he did out in LA's. She said they were hoping, but they hadn't heard anything for sure. But that was enough for me -- just the hint that *maybe* just maybe... there's hope! dcdeb
  7. I live about 10-15 minutes away from Dulles Airport... dcdeb
  8. Congrats on the tickets! I did my own happy dance yesterday There are at least a half dozen of us from the forum going to the DC show. Check this thread here: http://www.mikafanclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3270 We're talking about meeting up before the show and maybe doing something special... dcdeb
  9. Like you, Steph, I was in my car, listening to Radio One, but it was Jo Whiley's show in early January. I can't be sure, but I think it was just after the first of the year. She said something like, "Here's someone I think we'll be hearing a lot of this coming year," and she said she loved that line, "I could be hurtful I could be purple," and I chuckled. And then she played Grace Kelly. When I heard Mika sing, "so I tried a little Freddie," I thought, "WOW! Does he *ever* sound like Freddie!" (I was a HUGE Queen fan back in the day... 30 years ago... sigh) Anyhow... I came home, ran to the computer and did a search on "Mika." I saw his picture and thought, "Oh, what a cute kid," not at all what I imagined he'd look like. I found the song on some site -- not sure which one -- played it again... and again... and again... and it got stuck in my head for WEEKS, like it was the permanent soundtrack for my life. My husband and son were saying, "Why? What is it about THIS song?" I couldn't really explain it, except to say that it made me feel happy. I poked around on the internet, found this site and started lurking for a few weeks before I registered. And the rest, as they say, is history. dcdeb
  10. Why, NO, Bab, I most certainly did NOT! I haven't actually seen ANY of Mika's undergarments. And I absolutely haven't read over every single page of this thread, and ogled all the photos (twice) showing him exposing his (mostly grey) pants. In fact, this is actually the first time I have ever visited this thread at ALL, and I'm shocked, SHOCKED! to see that there are more than 60 pages dedicated to the boy's underwear! dcdeb <with fingers crossed behind her back, wondering if she made Bab believe her>
  11. Hey! I'm in Virginia -- don't tell Mika not to come here! Besides the bill says: "...a bill that would levy a $50 (around £27) fine on anyone who 'exposes his below-waist undergarments in an offensive manner'." There is NOTHING offensive about the way Mika exposes his undergarments! At least, *I'm* not offended. Ooops, did I just say that out loud? Ahem. dcdeb
  12. You took the words right out of my mouth! YAY! LOLLIPOP! dcdeb
  13. Now it's got me wondering if they'll do something similar for the US shows... I might have to dust off my gold lame jacket and see what else I have in the back of the closet! dcdeb
  14. Did anybody else see this yet, from Mika's myspace page? I don't see it posted anywhere... Exclusive MIKA competition...Monday! Keep your eyes peeled for an exclusive MIKA competition that's set to launch on My Space this coming Monday. It involves a little bit of dressing up, a little bit of filming and just a bit of imagination. Log on, this Monday for a chance to win a spot on the guestlist at one of his upcoming May shows mikamyspace xx Sounds like it something for those of you in the UK? dcdeb
  15. Or come to DC -- June 12! dcdeb

    lyrics

If you do a search on this forum there have been several threads that have fairly accurate lyrics to all the songs. They are better than any of the lyrics I've seen on other "lyrics" sites. dcdeb
  17. Hurrah for you! I can honestly say how happy I am for you both... especially since now I have my own tix! Say... do you know how big the venue is this time? The 9:30 Club in DC holds about 1200 people -- is that a lot bigger than the club the last time you saw Mika? dcdeb
  18. Northern VA -- about 12 miles west of the District, actually. (So I'm not REALLY DCdeb, I'm more like NoVAdeb, but there's no alliteration in that so sssshhh, we'll stick with dcdeb, if you don't mind...) dcdeb
  19. This always makes me laugh, but the humor may be lost on the folks who speak other than English... The Dialectizer: http://rinkworks.com/dialect/ dcdeb
  20. LOL! I love your sense of humor! Give me half a mo' and I'll find one for you -- don't think I can top yours, though! dcdeb
  21. I'm a writer, not an artist, I'm afraid -- no beautiful scrapbook or collage or jewelry or anything so artsy like that coming from these hands When it comes to that, I'm a bit of a klutz I will however support anything that y'all want to do -- as long as Mika promises to COVER HIS EYES and not read this thread so we can SURPRISE him! Well, thanks! Although I'm afraid I really AM old. But that's OK -- I feel much younger than I am, and Mika's music makes me feel younger still. I'm excited to get to meet up with you all as well! dcdeb <who wonders *where* in PA you're at, as she's a native Pittsburgh girl>
  22. That's probably what I'll do as well Although I have a next-door neighbor who might come with me -- she's fairly open-minded about things. And if not, she does have two teenage daughters, maybe I'll bring one of them instead! In any case, I know I won't be alone, since it sounds like there will definitely be several others from this forum! How many days is it now??? dcdeb <counting>
  23. A great BIG THANK YOU to Lissy for the heads up on this last night! I might not have found out about it until it was too late otherwise. Lissy, YOU ROCK! dcdeb
  24. YEAH! ME TOO! I'm so excited! I was order number *9* At first I got an error message and was told to try again due to high volume -- I panicked! But it's all good now. I am set to go! Now I just need to find someone to go with me -- I might feel a little pathetic by myself, as I'm pretty sure I'll be one of the oldest people there! My 15 year old son has already told me he is NOT interested, and my husband feels the same. *sigh* Unbelievers! dcdeb
