  1. now this is perfect then. you applied, you won, you saw that locals didn't win, and gave them your tickets. i don't blame you for applying, it's the responsibility of the radio station to make sure their terms+conditions are met. and if all locals had won tickets, there wouldn't have been a problem at all. plus, finland is not a place mika comes to very often, like to other countries, so you have no choice but to travel to see him. like, for example, if someone from austria won tickets for the munich gig and i didn't, of course i'd still be disappointed, but i wouldn't find it unfair that the austrian fan applied, as mika never comes to austria. they just have no other choice. i think as long as someone is as responsible as you are and gives one or both of their tickets to locals if they see that they didn't win, it's perfectly fine. you can also start arguing there whether someone should go to such a gig with their husband who isn't really a fan, or instead give the 2nd ticket to another (local) MFCer. but i think we already had this discussion some other time. i think those who find it unfair if ppl from abroad apply, will just have to live with the fact that there'll always be some who do it. and those from abroad who win while locals don't, will have to live with the fact that they can't fully enjoy the gig with everyone else, as there'll be some who dislike them for being "greedy".
  2. i know it's illegal and it's ok for me to wait as long as everyone else has to wait... but IF it leaks before the release, i would wanna hear it. i'd blame those who leak it, not those who buy it anyway and just are happy to hear the songs a few days earlier. but if the album is downloadable for free on the web, there surely will be some who will just download it and not buy it - and that's what in fact "hurts" mika, regardless of when it happens.
  3. absolutely agree with this, and also with most of the other things you said. kreuzpullach, lol! the only thing i wouldn't be happy about - cross-cultural or not - if mika plays in the city you live in, let's say munich, and especially if he's doing similar gigs in other cities, let's say brussels - if someone from brussels wins tickets for both gigs and a fan from munich can't go to the gig in their hometown. it doesn't necessarily mean that if the brussels fan hadn't applied, the munich fan would've won instead, but it would still feel somewhat unfair, don't you think? and if a lot of people from abroad apply, the chances for the munich fan to win might in fact become lower. i think this is the point that those mean who find it unfair if ppl from abroad apply for tickets for these gigs. but it's a difficult topic, i can't see it black or white and decide for one point of view. i'd be totally happy if the 200-400 people at the munich gig were only from MFC and DMFC, from all over the world, but i'd also find it unfair if something happened like i mentioned above. oh and btw as you said it wouldn't affect anyone in a negative way if ppl just travelled to a gig without having tickets - it might, if too many do it and the possible after show meeting for originally 10-20 fans turns into 50 or 100 fans... about you not getting the newsletter yet, you didn't accidentially subsribe to the movie newsletter? the subscription box looks very similar... and suzie, yes, it's a regional radio station only in bavaria. we don't really have any nation-wide radio stations in germany - well there are some, but it's just news and stuff like that. of course everyone can listen to all the stations via web radio or to some probably also via satellite or cable, but generally, every german state has their own radio station.
  4. generally all photos, images, drawings,... are copyright protected and may not be used without permission of the copyright owner - you can find pix on the web that are marked as royalty free, you can use those in any case... for all others you actually should ask the owner. but on the mfc, people post all sorts of pix they find somewhere on the web, i think it's something like a legal grey area to use those as signatures/avatars - you'd get more problems if you used them for a professional website. but well, i'm no lawyer, so don't quote me on this. fact is, photos are generally copyright protected, but here on the mfc everyone posts them anyway.
  5. difficult topic, and each of you has a point in what they're saying. i also wouldn't be happy if the munich gig turned into a 2nd itunes, with everyone booking flights to get there, hoping for last minute tickets (ok it's different as there isn't the promise of a ticket fairy for this one, but still...). and for itunes it first said "UK only" too... but on the other hand, i'd prefer to share the experience with other mika fans instead of bored germans who don't even like mika and just go there cause it's for free. so IMO everyone can apply, and it would be the responsibility of those who give out the tickets, to check the addresses if they want a certain audience. if that stays the only german gig though, i hope they won't just let ppl from bavaria win, but at least from all of germany (or german speaking area, if austria and switzerland don't get their own gigs). i just wouldn't like it if people took part in the competition, won tickets and then decided not to go after all and just let the tix expire instead of giving them to other fans, this would not be fair. btw, if this discussion goes on a bit longer, maybe the mods can move it to a seperate thread, so this one won't turn into a discussion thread about that topic?
  6. ha! i knew it: http://www.mikafanclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19323 (belgium)
  7. not sure what the r2 thing is like, haven't read the thread in detail... but this seems to be a presentation of the new album to a small amount of people. i'm quite sure that munich won't be the only place where he's doing something like that, so maybe everyone should start checking their local radio station websites. competition closes sep 8, guess around that time then...
  8. i can't even see my profile anymore, if i click on my name/pic in one of my comments, it's just a blank page! if they deleted it, now that i'd almost finished uploading all my pix and videos, i'll...
  9. it surely will be, this place is so f***ing small, i've been there before to see mark owen live, before take that got together again, and it's in fact just a small club in a basement. the 400 people capacity that is mentioned on the website seems a bit high to me - they say it's the maximum of guests if you wanna rent the club, but i'd guess that if they have a stage in there, it will be even less... i'd think 200, but then, i'm quite bad at guessing such things.
  10. i can't log onto mikasounds anymore since yesterday - always get the message "It appears you are not an active user. Please email us for more information." - and of course i emailed them, but got no reply so far. anyone else had this message before and/or knows what it means/what i can do about it?
  11. nah, why should that have an impact? he'll probably only fly to munich on sunday. if he doesn't say hello i think it would be due to the fact that it's a festival, it's always harder there. btw i'm happy now that i didn't try to get expensive bestival tickets, when one day later he's in my hometown. i hoped it would be good for something to wait with the bestival decision, and in fact, i was right. sorry don't know how many tickets per person. i'd guess 2, but it may as well be just one.
  12. yay, mika's coming to munich! he'll be here on sep 13, 2009 for an exclusive bayern3 (radio station) gig at the atomic cafe (http://www.atomic.de). this venue ist only for max. 400 people and tickets can only be won by subscribers of the bayern3 newsletter. in the newsletter there was a link to a website where you have to enter your address and answer an easy question (name of first album) to take part in the competition. in that form you also have to choose which part of bavaria you live in, so maybe it's just for people from bavaria... but it doesn't say so explicitly anywhere, so you can try. you can subscribe to the newsletter here: http://www.br-online.de/bayern3/newsletter/bayern-3-newsletter-kostenlos-ID1199439195645.xml?_requestid=868078 (the first of the 2 grey boxes where it says "Newsletter bestellen / abbestellen"). the newsletter came for me a few hours after subscribing. all competition entries must be sent before sep 8. aah, i'm so happy, an exclusive small gig nearly in front of my door! just hope i win tickets, but i'll be there anyway. edit: i forgot, you'll get a confirmation mail after subscribing to the newsletter. in this mail, you have to click a link to complete your subscription.
  13. granted, but 5 minutes into the gig you'll get squashed by hundreds of screaming fans and have to be taken to hospital. i wish i had a flat with a garden, so i could plant beautiful flowers and have my own private sunbathing place.
  14. very true, i remember how we were going mad about the first pix of mika topless, before he started taking off his shirt on stage... just thinking of that german interview where mika said that he is too shy to talk with someone he likes but just stares and produces really hot movies in his head about how it could be. he definitely belongs here in the naughty corner.
  15. it does get easier if you don't think about love and relationship when you say hi to a guy, but just about saying hi. but if it's someone so goodlooking that it's "love at first sight" for you, it will always be too difficult just to say hi, because your expectations are too high at that moment to act in a relaxed way. and the longer you wait, the harder it gets - BECAUSE you have those movies in your head and therefor your expectations rise even more. but well, knowing this doesn't change much, it still happens to me too occasionally - but at least i know why it is like it is.
  16. well some people (especially guys) at his age are just not ready YET for a steady relationship. maybe he thinks he should have one but it just doesn't fit to his current personality? i remembered another thing he once said, "i flirt with everything, no matter if it's a tree or a coffee cup" - it's a bit of a contradiction to the i see you story, isn't it?
  17. just found this interview: http://jetzt.sueddeutsche.de/texte/anzeigen/482857, published 2 days ago. don't have time for a detailled translation now, but to give you a general overview, they visit him at home and describe how he lives in the basement of his parent's house, and he says he's not mummy's boy but just had no time to find his own place yet. and they write that he had fish and broccoli for breakfast. urgh. in the interview he says that success changed him in the way that he has become even more reclusive and more cautious than he already was, and that he needs this for being creative and writing songs and something about that his songs are more mysterious if he doesn't reveal too much about himself. then he talks about the song "i see you", that it's about him falling in love with someone he doesn't know and is too shy to talk to, so he just stares. and that he imagines how it could be and creates really hot movies in his head (), so when he sees this person for the 2nd time it's almost like a 2nd date, although he just stares. he says he does have sort of a love life, but he isn't proud of it cause he isn't able to establish a steady relationship. he says he might just not be made for that, and that in any case he would protect his relationship, there wouldn't be press pix and homestories. they ask him why he doesn't say whether he's gay or not, and he says cause it doesn't make a difference for him. the last question is about "blame it on the girls", whether it's about him or someone in the music industry, and he answers by stating that all the other musicians and pop stars are stupid, cause they all pretend to be someone they're not and there's no real friendship in the music industry. this as a short summary, maybe someone else on here has time to translate word by word? edit: here's the link to the full translation by harlequeen (thanx for that! ): http://www.mikafanclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2444891&postcount=16 - or just click to page 2 of this thread.
  18. lol, i thought of harry potter too when i read the title. don't know if it has been posted yet, but here's a high quality version of the cover: http://artists.universal-music.de/_artists/mika/images/MIKAAlbumCvrRGB.jpg - the bearded man on the painting, is it dumbledore?
  19. hmpf that's great - now that i've decided that i urgently need a mika gig very soon, as i wanna get away from my disastrous RL as much as possible at the moment, this one is sold out and the blackpool one is not a real gig and only for uk residents. luck really isn't on my side at the moment. (i probably used it all up by meeting mika in munich... ) *hopes for more gigs, preferably on weekends*
  20. i'd say it was a bit like the mikagasmic pix thread, but more commented with than with it was a great place for a while, very funny and based on allusions, until a few people joined who became quite explicit and therefor the fun was lost and i think the thread was closed. ah rose, sorry, ok, so my sin was to hope the knitting thread was back. i'm currently mentally incompetent due to my problems in RL, looking for every fun distraction i can get, so i guess i became a bit too excited - sorry, mods. *goes in the corner*
  21. hey, rose posted those pix on here first! okok sorry guess i'm on the wrong thread here then, these are not my sins but mika's and i wanna talk about them!
  22. oh damn, hm, guess i should've read more than the last 2 pages then... rose! you misled me by posting those pix here! but also if i look at the tags below, it doesn't seem to me like it's bout cooling down...
  23. welcome tiibet! (dunno if the das-mika image has been posted on this thread yet and don't remember who created it, but it was a fave in the knitting thread )
  24. hey, i just discovered this thread, i just discovered this pic,and both go so well together, i just HAD to repost it. lol i just saw the tags at the bottom of the page, this is hilarious! *still waits for video-download to finish*
