  1. don't know much bout concerts nowadays, but in the 90s there weren't any systems like that. those who pushed the hardest got to the front. still no systems for take that concerts (on the last germany tour), though there isn't as much pushing anymore as there used to be. apart from mika and TT, i haven't been queuing so long for any shows in the last few years.
  2. damn! *is ashamed and goes to buy something for lunch* (or, if lunch is also OT, a second breakfast. )
  3. i didn't ask for anything, just added my opinion to what was stated about forums in other countries. as i said, i'm happy with the mfc. and sienna, sorry, of course you're right, there are several more countries that don't have their own forums.
  4. i always have bread or toast with butter & honey for breakfast, sometimes also with nutella, and besides that, always lots of milk. would swap all the milk and honey i currently have at home for itunes tickets though.
  5. i just noticed there's still something else at bigger gigs: different barriers inside the venue. it was like that in munich 2007 and in amsterdam last year, they had a space at the front and then the rest of the crowd behind another barrier so the pushing wouldn't get too bad. these barriers can be a good thing too, cause if they don't let in too many ppl, you can still have a good spot within that front barrier if you're not front row. one big reason i wanna be front row (compared to 2nd/3rd row) at standing gigs is cause it's easier to stay in your place, you can lean on the barrier, have room to breathe and take pix, no tall ppl in front of you and don't have to fight to keep your place all the time. at standing gigs without a front barrier, you can choose either that or the back behind everyone else, if you don't wanna get pushed around during the whole gig. if there's a front barrier, you can still be quite much at the front without being front row. i'd still prefer front row, but it's an alternative if i didn't want or didn't have time to queue all day. i'd certainly prefer a spot in the back of the front barrier to a spot in 5th row in the midst of a huge crowd. about the discussion "forums in other countries/advantages for the mfc" - of course i wouldn't mind if each country forum got some advantages for concerts in their own country. the german forum also exists since 2007 and though it doesn't have that many members, there are also some who have been fans for a long time but are not active members of the mfc. we had that discussion on the german forum after the ticket link was posted on the mfc a few hours before it was posted on mikasounds. it was stated on the mfc that the link shouldn't be given to anyone outside the mfc - now, are you a bad MFCer if you give the link to your friends so you can all buy tickets for a show in your own country? actually it didn't matter in this case, there were enough tickets for everyone and berlin wasn't numbered seats, so no one had a disadvantage by getting the link later. but the question came up afterwards. maybe the forums of the different countries should work more closely together, maybe the other country forums should also get advantages - but then, what about the uk and us fans, as they only have the mfc and not their "own" country forum? difficult question, i don't have a solution for it. i'm happy with the mfc being the official forum where you get the goodies, but i understand as well if others aren't because some things are "members only" and not supposed to be told to anyone else.
  6. i didn't watch that whole documentary, but the "ghost" part looks to me like someone walked through the picture and they cut him/her out of the scene. it's like erasing something in photoshop, you substitute the picture you don't want with the background, and if it's not done properly, it looks like in that video. or maybe someone really thought it would be funny to add this as a joke and see what happens. y'know, "elvis lives", if they repeat that with michael, the media has something to write about for the next few years.
  7. i have a lot of experience with queuing for GA gigs, as in germany, unlike in the uk, you always have GA also for bigger shows. first of all, i never enjoyed queuing as much as i did in berlin and milan on this tour. i was only no. 33 in berlin, so i wasn't in the crowd directly at the entrance like sariflor and didn't get pushed. and in milan i was absolutely amazed how calm the sometimes quite crazy italian fans could be. last time i've seen mika in italy (bologna 2007) was quite different, a lot of pushing! actually, when queuing goes like it did in berlin and milan, i really enjoy it, cause it means spending the day with nice people, and you can walk around in front of the venue all the time, and for lunch, toilet etc. when it's needed. compared to standing/sitting at the same place for most of the day, which can get a bit boring. queuing in brixton was ok too - a lot better with the numbers, than without them, although not everyone kept to it. the mika gigs on the last germany tour were also fine, you only had to be there at about 4 pm (in berlin even 6 pm), to be one of the first few in the queue. but sadly, it never goes without pushing at german concerts. it was mentioned in this thread, that in NY, more ppl started jumping the queue when they saw others doing it. i must admit i'd do it too. i'd never be the one to start jumping the queue or pushing, but i won't stand back and let those ppl take my place if they start with it. in berlin ppl tried to jump the queue, but we knew the numbers would be checked at the entrance, so i was able to stay calm and trust in the fact that my number would get me the place i deserved. but if the numbers aren't checked at the entrance, i'd start pushing in front of the people who pushed in front of me, and if everyone does that, of course the chaos is perfect. the problem with bigger gigs is that there's more than one entrance. they can't just have one entrance for all the people, cause it would take ages to let them through. and if they opened one entrance before the others for those with numbers 1-100 or something like that, it would also cause a chaos, cause everyone would start pushing towards that entrance. the only solution i can think of for this is, to have numbers 1a, 1b, 1c etc. for the different entrances, but not sure if that would work. and then number 3b might get in a lot later than number 3a, if number 1b had a huge bag that security would take a long time to search. plus, at some venues (like the olympiahalle in munich) there are different entrances at both sides of the venue, so those who queue at entrance east don't know what those at entrance west are doing. in short, i'm sure the numbers system will never work that well for big venues like it did for the acoustic tour. so do i prefer seated venues? no, as when presale starts, you have to be really lucky to get a good ticket, before the ticket website crashes. i don't like the pushing, but i'm kinda used to it from all the boyband concerts i've been to in my life, i can handle it. i've once been in a really life-threatening situation, but usually this is not the case. mika concerts are really calm, compared to nkotb, bsb or take that in the 90s! but of course i understand that smaller, more petite or just more sensitive people than i am will see that in a different way. so maybe, as most of us are travelling around anyway, the ideal solution would be a mix of seated and GA admission venues, so people can choose what they like most. maybe even both kinds of venues at the same city, like in london. they always do that for the nokia night of the proms in munich - 2 of the 4-6 gigs are general admission in the arena, the others are completely seated.
  8. just applied for tickets, how would they know that i'm not a uk resident? i just had to name a county. my location is not in my facebook profile, and if they want an ID for picking up the tickets, i can say i'm in the uk for a few weeks/months - they didn't say you have to be a permanent resident. however, i just hope i can go. london. and only 1 friday off work. my works' summer party is on that day, but i'm sure the better party is at the mika gig.
  9. i was on holiday in italy the last 2 weeks, with no internet or newspapers i was able to understand - my friend texted me the sad news. i was really shocked. i used to be a fan of michael when i was a teenager, still love his music of course. the "bad" album was the very first record i bought, and i've seen him live twice in munich, 1992 and 1997 - he was such an amazing dancer and performer. it makes me sad that he's dead, but it makes me even more sad that they still can't leave him alone now. more rumours, scandals, fights - he had to endure this all his life and now it's starting all over again. RIP michael.
  10. you think these tweets sounded forced? i just found them hilarous. that too. though i don't hug trees cause i love nature but because sometimes when i see a huge old tree, i have the feeling that it can give me strength somehow when i hug it. only done that bout 4 or 5 times in my life so far though - but can't remember whether i ate cheese before, lol!
  11. ok forget the question, with the name richard gere i was able to google it. i shouldn't have asked, this is disgusting. edit: lol, where has the richard gere post gone? i'm sure there was one, this is spooky.
  12. huh? what legend? i don't need cheese to make me want to stroke gerbils, i mean, look: :wub2:
  13. der knuddelsmiley heißt huglove (mit doppelpunkten natürlich )
  14. very true. so, 2 album copies for me then, like the EP. looks like he found an easy way to double his income.
  15. i think we'll receive the codes for the preordered EPs via e-mail when the code thing starts on mikasounds. fact is, they thought they'd have it all ready until may 25, then june 8, but for some reason it didn't work out. as mika told us in milan, they're all programming it themselves, it's all completely new, and i guess they want to make sure that it really works before starting it. i don't know how the time planning worked and whose fault it is that the stuff didn't get ready til the announced date(s) - but it takes a lot of time to program and test an application like this, they probably have been working on it for months already (or, they better would have started several months ago, or it won't be ready any time soon! ). the code-papers that were given out in paris, was it also a code card like in berlin/milan, stating that all would be revealed on june 8? if not, i guess that they just didn't give out the cards anymore when it was june 8 and they saw they couldn't keep their promise, as it's quite confusing for ppl if they don't know what's going on (only mfc knows that it's in fact "top of june 8th"! ). though they sometimes forgot to give out cards in berlin and milan too - some ppl had to go back and especially ask for the card. or maybe they decided on whether someone looked enough like a crazy fan who'd in fact use the card. about the private gig, they probably won't give us the possibility to merge our points to one account, once we've entered them into our own. so i guess i'll keep my codes for a while and not convert them into points - that way we can still decide that one MFCer enters them all into his/her account and gets the private gig for all of us. someone should enter their ticket code though, to find out how many points those are.
  16. it's also on amazon uk: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Album-2-Title-TBC-Mika/dp/B002DMLH82/ref=amb_link_84171113_2?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=auto-sparkle&pf_rd_r=1PQCBN8BY45KJWZGFQEH&pf_rd_t=301&pf_rd_p=469334933&pf_rd_i=mika
  17. perfect now, thanx! and of course you can use it, as i said, as long as you don't cut off the text.
  18. lol, i love his creative way of defining the letter "ö"! did you specially ask for the dots on it? he got my name (karin) wrong too, though i spelled it to him - but he was busy drawing the pic in my signature (that's what was on my autograph), maybe that's why he didn't notice that i said "karen with i instead of e". about being a fan or not: you're in the FAN CLUB now, so you are, whether you want it or not. i wouldn't interpret too much into that signature (whether it's good or bad), i think he just wanted the autograph to be more personal than just your name and his signature. or maybe after writing "love" he thought "oh wait, she said she isn't a fan, so maybe that's too much" and therefor wrote the rest.
  19. laurel, i just noticed you have my pic of the milan show in your signature. as you cut off the copyright text, could you please add it somewhere else if you're using the pic - ideally a small text in a corner of the photo itself, so if ppl copy it, they know where it's from and who has the copyright. you can add the original text or "by mellody", that's up to you. if you don't know how to add text to a pic, let me know, then i'll do it for you. thanx. it's not that i don't want ppl using my pix, everyone can if they leave the copyright note (or use the pic only in avatar-size), but i don't want the pix in high quality to be spread all over the web and be used for who-knows-what (maybe even sold), without anyone knowing that it was me who took them.
  20. yup, i was front row on the left side - right next to the boy in the paper dress and his girlfriend. and i also was filming some of the songs, but not most of the gig, no, there certainly were others who filmed more than i did!
  21. hi rockferry, schön dass du jetzt auch hier bist!
  22. herzlich willkommen thy! wenn du irgendwelche fragen hast, kannst du dich gern an mich wenden. und hier noch der link zum deutschen thread im mfc: http://www.mikafanclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13559 continue in english... so you were already at the church in berlin when mika arrived in the afternoon - or was it when he left for dinner? if it was the first, you were there already quite early... did we meet? i was wearing a green shirt with the text "spray on the glitter". you were lucky to talk with him for a while after the gig, though he signs things+says hello to his fans after most gigs, in berlin he really took time for everyone, but often there are twice as many ppl as in berlin so he can't do it.
  23. interesting post caz. i also found some similarities with mika through the article, but for me it concerned more my career. i also was bullied at school, and can totally confirm what you said about it causing low self-esteem and somewhat of a paranoia. when it comes to relationships, i got over it in my early-20s, when i had my first long-term and wonderful relationship, which showed me i am worth being loved. but when it comes to building professional relationships / networking for the job/career, i'm still quite handicapped. anyway, what i wanted to say: mika talked about getting bullied and therefor building his own little world. and later, he said sth like that he became a musician because that was what made him tick when he was a little boy. it made me realize you probably never really get out of that little world you built for yourself. when i got bullied, my "alternative world" that made me happy was being a fan of different bands - nkotb, take that, and all the other 90s boybands. for nkotb i built up a fanclub back then, and at school i much rather developed crosswords for the fanclub magazine than anything else, because with that i was in my own little world and far away from the real one. and now i'm a huge mika fan and run the german fanclub website. not a big development from back then (except that the artist and the music is much better now! ). the only other thing i loved doing as a teenager was singing and playing guitar. i absolutely wanted to become a pop star, but didn't get much support from my family. i wonder if i'd had a mum like mika's, would i be a pop star too now? well, i don't really want it anymore, i like being at home and on my own too much for leading the life of a pop star. but i'm not really happy with my current job either, and sometimes i wonder if maybe it was a mistake to not pursue a career somewhere in music (not necessarily meaning popstar), cause that was all i loved and wanted when i was younger.
  24. damn! so, one more person for the mfc house in london here! i'd have to give up my job for that, but who cares - could work for mika instead... - looks to me like he might need someone to program that magic numbers thing on his website, i'm sure i won't be slower with it than them!
  25. me too! so it's july 31... hmm, that's a friday, i could try to get a day off...
