J'ai des phrases pour traduire: 'they want to see their English girlfriends' J'ai écrit 'ils veulent voir leurs copines anglaises' Mais, maintenant, je dois les écrire au conditionnel et de les compléter avec mes idées. Donc j'ai écrit: 'Ils voudraient voir leurs copines anglaises si ils pouvaient.' Is that right??? Please - I have more. . .

I'm only adding this for the sake of posting as I so rarely do, but I think car is an adjective in car battery - like silver said torch battery. So Mika, also, is an adjective in Mika gig, but a proper noun and possessive in Mika's gig.

Do you know how to pronounce it? It's of Irish origin and we're used to it now, but it is a very strange one.

Je pense que l'allemand est plus facile (pour moi, certainement) parce que beaucoup de mots anglais viennent de langues germaniques. Déja je peux demander le thé, le café, le vin et la bière. Je peux demander quelque chose à manger et je peux dire à quelqu'un que j'ai perdu mes bagages, passeport, porte-monnaie et sac à main. Donc, je suis très heureux de mes progrès.

Bonsoir mes amis. Je continue à des classes de conversation en français, mais mon fils, sa femme et mon petit-fils sont partis vivre en allemand. Je suis désolé. Donc, maintenant, je dois apprendre parler allemand!!!!

I love this thread. Like nas said ^^^^^^ I love how it's often the EAL posters here who have the correct vocabulary to discuss usage and the parts of speech whereas I speak good, grammatically correct English - it's my mother tongue - but I don't always know why it's right or wrong.

I used to hate "innit" but then I heard literary types explaining that (especially for s.o. learning English, it avoids needing to learn all the forms: "isn't it?" "hasn't it?" "wouldn't it" etc etc etc. So it's more like "n'est-ce pas?" in French. Living language

Strangely enough, they played HE in the 'Strictly' final while they did an overview of Harry. He then went on to win so he did have a Happy Ending

I've stayed in two places - a hotel and a hostel arranged by school holiday reps for my husband's school. The prices must have been very competitive and I was just along as an extra adult. But my, how I smiled to think how close I was!
