  1. I was looking at the Cirque Du Soleil red carpet thread, and was highly amused by the speedy Mika, so i thought I'd drag some of the comments across for general amusement... (Apologies: Various smilies have been deleted to let me do this...) I tried to catch the vid, but think I missed, so I'll link the relevant bit to here http://www.mikafanclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1023575&postcount=44
  2. Paul and Flacco would be pretty good. I never did believe in Paul and Mikey, and Joanna Griggs just wasn't in it... If you want access to a Canberra accoustic guitar Chickadee, I have 2 you could choose from..
  3. Hi Jemmalee, I haven't read all of the thread, but wanted to congratulate you on starting it, and now on doing so well. A useful way to help yourself to progress towards what you want: Forget negatives, use positives. Today, you are a person who has successfully lost a pound. That person is different to the person you were before. This new resourceful person can let herself feel hugely encouraged by her progress, and decide she wants more feelings like this. If you can let yourself feel excited by your victories, it helps make future progress much easier. Tomorrow or next week there will be new victories, and you can build on it from there. Mika says, its all about finding the joy, and he is right. Happy people make good decisions.
  4. Hi Aurora, Happy New Year! Wow, you are highly skilled! I am determined to do a dressmaking course this year, to learn enough so I can reconstruct clothes, and make my own. Quilts are easy, lots of short straight lines! I do have pictures, but I can rarely get a picture to work on this forum, and the 5 minutes I have now are too short to learn to photobucket. I will get some pics up soonish (days) but will also need to decide on the 'best'. What is your favourite colour? Happy New Year, DC. You are so kind! This year I am going to (try to, anyway) make at least one art quilt each month. And I will post pictures to prove it! I started work today on a new one, while the resolve and enthusiasm is high. Happy New Year, Happikali, and everyone else I did not quote. If I start listing names I'm bound to forget someone, so if you read this, I'm Happy New Yearing YOU! With hugs!
  5. My New Year's resolution is to make more (and better) quilts!
  6. (This is page 212, and I'm up to page 135, and closing fast!) I was thinking of you as we drove through/past Orange on our way to and from Adelaide. I was thinking Merry Christmas thoughts in your direction. Hope you got them! Yup, turkey cooked on the barbie (well, the Weber - does it still count?) And now I'm up to 179, and still persevering. Somehow, it's quite slowing to multi-task forum and ironing. Iron one shirt, read one page, iron one pair of jeans, read one page... It's going to be hot today, and we have no airconditioning, just juggling of shutters and blinds, so if the ironing isn't done now, it won't be done at all, and yesterday I washed all of our holiday clothes, so there was a mountain of ironing, and it's all done! Yippee!
  7. Not even close! I was loooong gone! And gone long! A week of no MFC' date=' and extremely limited Mika music - my ipod died the day I left, and the family one had no Mika, and I was only once alone in my car to play LICM!!!! Every time i see this clip I drop everything and just watch - it's mesmerising... It's so nice to be home! And new pics! Thanks Rainbow Sky!
  8. *sneaks in, towing lyrebird for Happikali's nest* Sit! Stay! *Lyrebird gives a digusted look and flies off home for Christmas...* Hiya, I'm going off to Adeliade for the week, and will have virtually no PC access. My ipod will be in heavy use on long beach walks... Um... my Verandah pics will be put up somewhere, sometime after the Chrissie absence and madness is over. Anything I've promised you guys will come sometime after that... Nice pics NC! Merry Christmas to all who venture here!
  9. WOOOT!!! 150 posts for me! I claim that 150 posts for a Mouselle is definitely equal to 1000 posts for anyone else! PARTY! I have faith Mika will get to Aus, and I'll happily take a new album any time! I was so disappointed when he said in the Live Lounge that there might not even be a new album in 2008! (Liar, liar, pants on fire!) I'm going to hang on to my tix until at least mid Jan, and hope the festivals are sold out so ebay might even get me a profit...
  10. Sounds like I'm the first one home - having the shortest trip helps! I had a lovely windy drive thru beautiful countryside, and even had time for a 10 minute bushwalk on a misty (rainy) mountain! Home is nice to come back to, but I am already missing the peaceful Verandah! Hugs to Happikali and every MFCer in reading distance!
  11. The morning rep of the verandah posse is here to say WOOT! WHAT A NIGHT! Think bubbles, balloons, pole dancing, glitter hair and giggles! such fun! pics to arrive later....
  12. He also would have needed/used his language skills in Music College, where he was singing Lied (German) and probably operatic songs in a variety of European languages. I think he spent some time then working out things like the changes in vowel sounds, and how to do them, and now is able to use that knowledge to quickly mimic sentences as heard. He also has a very quick and keen ear, (being unable to read music and trying to play by hearing would help develop that) and a wonderful ability to shift accents very quickly. He struggles a lot more with the more obscure ones like Norwegian.
  13. It certainly sounds as though you will be making your decision soon! I am still not sure what to do. I want the MFC strongly represented in Australia. I want to spend time with MFCers. BUT - This festival weekend clashes with my 21st wedding anniversary. It's also a lot of effort for a festival where I am not super-fond of the other acts, and Mika may never know we were there! Maybe we need to work on an MFC banner, or borrow the o/s MFC flag If we can organise ourselves so there are a few of us taking the same flights and cross country travel and we can share the experience, then it will become more appealing to me than turning up at the festival and trying to spot the MFCers among the thousands.
  14. In Australia, he was wearing glasses when he got out of the car before the show, and explained to us that he did need to wear them.
  15. Enquiring minds want to know - How long does it take to learn to think the above picture is a delicious normal breakfast after a lifetime of cornflakes and toast and coffee
  16. Thanks dcdeb! I have never been to a festival, and am slightly anti the thought of being surrounded by crowds who don't care and are there for other bands, but if that's how I get my Mika dose, then thats how it shall be! Yay for Mika in Aussieland!
  17. Yay for Carmel! Great idea, lots of perseverence and fun, and a magnificent end! Well done, and happy days! I propose a toast - To Carmel!
  18. I was thinking about Mika's stage movements in general, how they seem so flamboyant and dramatic when he is not a loud 'in your face' person in RL. But - he was stage trained. That means, he understands the importance of moving, striking poses, and drawing the eye when he wants to be the centre of attention. (It's different to his dancing, which is definitely unchoreographed.) From that base, he has added in whatever he likes about Freddie, Prince, Bowieetc. He mentioned using Alan Cumming's coathanger move. I wonder if there is a pointer he is consciously copying, or if it is a patented Mika move (seems unlikely).
  19. Yep. That's how I got my Paypal, and it works just fine. Thanks for the reminder. It's been 6 months, and I nearly live here! This is rent I'm ecstatic to pay!
  20. Hi Blue Sky, Yeah, long time no chat! I'm always here, just hard to see when I have nothing to say for a while! (lurker alert!) I've been listening to the awesome audio from Bologna, and I do love Saranayde's voice. She has a lot of talent, and I love that Mika lets her show more of her range than a pure 'back up singer' would be allowed to do. Saranayde, please stay a while!
  21. I welcome Sara's additon to the stage, as she has a lovely voice, and she also adds extra possibilities to Mika's performances. He no longer has to carry the full burden of the main songline, he can every now and then play with harmonies, adding frills and furbelows, and I do love Mika's voice when he has a chance to play! I don't have the technical knowledge to descibe it precisely, but I like the effects. Good choice, Mika!
  22. This quilt is going to look amazing! Thanks for the pictures!
  23. 2 cents worth - having read a fair bit of fan fiction about tv characters at various times, I cannot hypocritically say it is a bad thing. However, I will never voluntarily read any fan fic about Mika, or any other real person. There is an involvement with TV shows where you see part of a characters life, and want to extrapolate or imagine the off screen life, due to an intense interest in those characters. In making up any further stories, you manipulate those characters, and put them in a situation where the TV show does not take them, or just imagine more depth, or behind the scenes stuff or whatever. They can be imaginative, or erotic, aventurous etc ... I personally feel that publishing fan fic (on an internet forum) about Mika is promoting an unhealthy interest in his personal life and feelings and reactions. Discussing every detail of what he does publicly, his reasons, personality, and reactions is fine. He puts it out there. What he does not want to make public is any real information on his family life, relationships or friends. He wants to stay the singer, not the love interest or the celebrity whose life is open to discussion by the world. I don't think it is a pleasant thing, to write a personal story about someone who wants to keep their life private. I think it is different for TV characters, who do not exist to have a private life, and cannot feel exposed or violated when given one (or many!)that is publicly discussed and put on an internet forum. Mika, and anyone who is written about, usually shrugs or laughs, and says that they don't care as the stories have nothing to do with the real person. However, you have to give a lot of thought to how you think the real person might be, think and act in the simulated situation to write about it. And if you are the real person being written about, I think that would become very uncomfortable. So I think fan fics should be pm'd , or put on a separate site. I would prefer MFC to be a place where Mika could proudly visit, not a place where he has to embarrassedly dodge the fan fic. I'd like MFC to be crazy and zany, not scary...
  24. I have just posted another 5 squares, all of them characters taken from the wall behind Mika in the new Happy Ending video. They are in flannelette(?), so they feel cuddlier than they look!
