  1. Hello Mirna Welcome to the MFC! You have joined at a good time as we are expecting a lot of Mika news this year!
  2. Boum Boum Boum sounds different on the music video compared to the version on the NPIH Special Edition. Is it supposed to?šŸ¤”

The song live is still more interestingĀ :naughty:

Wow that performance was great!šŸ¤© The song is really growing on me, I do prefer the version on the music video so I'll purchase it digitally :)

  3. I watched a video about these comments. I think his music is okay but nothing outstanding. I can think of a few gay singers like Sam Smith, Adam Lambert, Ricky Martin. Lady Gaga is also a huge part of the LGBT+ community, who is above the level of Taylor Swift and Rihanna. Also Grace Kelly was banned in America for being too gay?! This is the video:
  4. Happy Birthday! :yay:

      Thank you!Ā ^_^

  5. I didn't like this one. I was hoping Kerrie-Anne would win but I wouldn't have been annoyed if Jordan won. It''s a dull cliche song and I agree I don't think it will do well, will probably be the same place as Storms from last year
  6. I received the box-set of this album for my birthday in November with the 4 pictures and the signed picture is now framed on my wall! I listened to the deluxe version of this album for the first time around Christmas time, but I felt I needed more time with this one as it is different to his other albums (it is more personal) The first song is Talk About You, I think this is a great start to the album, it is a happy and uplifting song although the chorus can get a bit repetitive, I think it works well that way. This song was released in the UK as a single and he performed it on the one show. All She Wants is interesting and this one got stuck in my head first! The meaning of this song is quite interesting! Last Party, is in my opinion not his best ballad. I do really like the Sinfonia Pop version though. Good Guys confused me at first, I had to check the forums and realised it was about Mikaā€™s role models. I like the instrumental but I donā€™t really like the girls voice. The night time remix is as good too. Oh Girl Youā€™re The Devil reminds me of Jackson 5ā€™s ABC especially during the chorus, did anyone else think this? At first I didnā€™t like this song because of the deep voice (that is Mikaā€™s voice right?šŸ¤”) but after a few more listens I realised it does work so I do like this one! No Place In Heaven, the title track wouldnā€™t sound out of place on one of his earlier albums (TBWKTM). The song is ok but it doesnā€™t stand out for me. I really like Staring At The Sun, I think I will listen to this song a lot especially in the summer! I really like the music video too. There is a French version which is also nice. Hurts is too slow for me. I like the remix version better as Iā€™m not a big fan of slow songs. I think lyrically itā€™s the best song on the album! It isnā€™t a Mika album without a song with a story and Good Wife is that song! It reminds me a bit of Billy Brown, its decent but not my favourite. I think Rio is the most unique song on the album, itā€™s not repetitive and the lyrics are quite funny (ā€œIā€™ll roll 13 on a pair of diceā€) Iā€™m assuming heā€™s making fun of himself! šŸ¤£ Ordinary Man is the best ballad on the album for me. I think itā€™s the most personal song on the album. The first deluxe song is Promiseland, I liked this from the first listen. The lyrics are interesting, reading the forums it seems like itā€™s about the music industry? I was also surprised to find live performances of this song on YouTube as Mika doesnā€™t seem to like performing deluxe tracks. Porcelain is dreamy sounding, itā€™s not my favourite and I donā€™t think it has replay value like the other songs on the album. Lā€™amour Fait Ce Quā€™il Veut is the last song on the deluxe album and I like it, itā€™s groovy, my favourite non-English Mika song at the moment. For some of the special edition tracks thereā€™s Boum Boum Boum, his most popular song from this album. The music video is really great, the production is very high quality. I donā€™t understand anything in Je Chante but the video is very memorable and unique! Beautiful Disaster is good, Iā€™ve only heard it once so far so I canā€™t say much but I prefer this version then the one with Fedez. Lastly Feels Like Love is nice as well. I actually donā€™t own the special edition yet, it is quite hard to find for a decent price! I think maybe listening to Mikaā€™s entire discography over the course of like 4 months made it more difficult for me to give my thoughts on this album, I think I will appreciate this album more as I listen to it more throughout this year and I know Mika is also recording a new album now as he posts videos on his Instagram stories! šŸ¤© So overall with all 4 Mika albums out now I think the consensus within this forum is that this album is the most liked and The Origin Of Love seems be the most disliked. At this point I canā€™t rank them 1-4, none of the albums are bad at all, each one has really good songs but I think Life In Cartoon Motion will always be my number one for nostalgia but I think No Place In Heaven gets better every time I listen to it! Itā€™s hard to do a Top 5 when thereā€™s more than 20 songs part of this album as a whole but for now I would say it is: Staring At The Sun, Talk About You, Promiseland, All She Wants and Oh Girl Youā€™re The Devil. I would love to know what your favourite songs are and what you think of it now, almost 4 years later, is it Mikaā€™s best album, so far? Also I wonā€™t do another one of these first thoughts as Iā€™ve caught up with all of Mikaā€™s music like the rest of you now, so next time a Mika album releases I will discuss it on the same discussion page as everyone else! šŸ˜Š
  7. This is really upsetting to hear that people still have these views in 2019! I also found this article http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/turkey-to-return-eurovision-if-no-more-bearded-divas-135427 Which basically says what you have said and also said the TV boss doesn't like the 2014 winner Conchita Wurst for their appearance.
  8. Yay I loved Eurovision last year! I am looking forward to it this year aswell. I've heard all 6 songs from the UK and they are OK but not winning material! My favourites are Sweet Lies by Kerrie-Anne & Bigger Than Us by Holly Tandy. I am looking forward to watching the live performances on "You Decide" on Friday! Do you have a favourite of the 6 silver?
  9. I like your list Eliza! I agree with the others on here though, my opinion changes over time, I've only been listening to Mika's last three albums since September last year so my opinions are changing all the time, I think I need to update my siggy
  10. I watched the Sinfonia Pop Concert DVD for the first time today:swoon:

It was really relaxing to watch and has made me appreciate some of the songs I didn't like that much before, especially Last Party!

Mine is Heroes! Speaking of songs,Ā I just realised I missed your post about NPIH, Iā€™m very curious about your impressions after the interesting ones you wroteĀ for the previous albums! What do you think about it?Ā :wub2:

      Gemz

Heroes was one of my favourites too! :thumb_yello: I haven't done a post for NPIH yet!Ā  I have listened to the deluxe edition of the album a few times, I think I first heard it a month ago now. I have been meaning to do a post about my thoughts on the album but it is taking me a while to get used to, it seems more personal than the other albums! I guess one positive is that all of the songs I have heard from it are decent, none I would skip if they came up, but none of them really stand out for me at the moment šŸ˜•

I understand, it definitely is very personal and intimate! Take your time to process it, I'll be happy to read your thoughts once you'll feel ready to share themĀ :)

  11. Hi Eliza! Welcome to the MFC, see you around! šŸ˜Š
  12. I've only just figured out how to post status updates šŸ¤£

I feel I should ask this question here instead of making a whole forum about it.

I've listened to NPIH a couple of times now and am wondering who is doing the deep vocals? I read some old forums with people guessing it was Mika adding a vocal effect to make his voice sound deep but I think it sounds like someone else! šŸ¤”

The deep vocals are most noticeable in "Oh Girl, You're The Devil" and "Promiseland" šŸ˜Š

For me it sounds like Mika's voice adding a vocal effect @Gemz

  13. Wow what a great song! I haven't heard of LP before but because of this collaboration I have listened to more music from LP and I like the unique sound! Thank you Mika for helping me discover a new artist to listen to! šŸ˜Š

Hi RocĆo, welcome to the MFC! Your story is basically the same as mine, I knew Mika since the beginning too but only his classic hits from early in his career. I joined a month ago and now I am listening to his newer songs but I haven't listened to any of the songs from No Place In Heaven yet as I'm becoming more familiar with the Origin Of Love album first! Your English seems fine to me and the forum becomes easy to use after using for a week or so! Enjoy all the content on here!

    Hello de Paris

Welcome Karine šŸ¤— My favourite Mika song is Relax. You've come to the right place as a Mika fan as there is plenty of content on here to keep you informed about all his work! Enjoy and see you around
  16. At the moment Make You Happy is probably my least favorite Mika song but maybe I'll grow to like it like you did! And I'm very much looking forward to listening to the symphonic album, Is it better to get the Sinfonia Pop DVD with the two CD's or the No Place In Heaven Special Edition with the "Et L'Orchestre Symphonique De Montreal" disc? or both? šŸ¤”
  17. Thanks for posting this fan review thread Sabine! šŸ˜ I have spent the past few hours reading through the whole thread and it is so nice to see so many different reactions, it seems everyone has there own favorites! I'm sure they will all change within time. I'm looking forward to reading the other discussions and also will search up threads for the reviews of Mika's other albums to see what people thought. šŸ§
  18. Hey everyone! Since the first post I wrote on here just over a month ago I have been spoiled with Mika content to explore and what a wonderful time I am having! šŸ¤© I appreciate all the comments on the post, they made me feel very welcome šŸ¤— Some of you guys wanted to know my thoughts on his newer albums, well they are new to me! So over the past few days I have been listening to The Origin Of Love album and you guys were right when you said it has a different sound but still captured Mika's style. So the first song on the album is Origin Of Love. I like the uniqueness of this song however I would have preferred less effects on the vocals. I really the like the instrumental on this track. Lola is next and I really like this song, it is very chill and a happy sounding song, probably one of my favorites on the album at the moment. Stardust is a nice song, it sounds like it should be a song in the film Wreck It Ralph, does anyone else think this? There is a brilliant remix of this song on the deluxe disc of the album also. Make You Happy isn't my cup of tea to be honest, but I like the acoustic version on the deluxe disc. Underwater, what a beautiful song. I already heard it from one of Mika's most recent performances and at first I thought he was gonna sing Set Fire To The Rain by Adele because the Piano sounds kinda similar at the start, definitely one of my favorites on the album. Overrated, I heard a demo of this song from 2007 and I really liked it, this new version sounds like a club remix! I like this song but I prefer the acoustic sound of this song. Kids, this song isn't one of my favorites, it's nice but I don't think it stands out on the album. Love You When I'm Drunk, is a fun song, I really like the verses, the acoustic version is also great. Step With Me, includes a unnamed female vocalist? It's a nice calm song but again not one of my favourites. Popular Song, I was already familiar with the version he did with Ariana Grande and I never really liked that version. I actually like the one on the album better but it's weird hearing Mika rap. Emily, I absolutely love this song, it is definitely my favorite on the album, and probably one of my favorite Mika songs at the moment. It actually made me cry šŸ˜ because I can relate to the song even though my name isn't Emily. The french version Elle Me Dit is also nice, I might try to learn the words to improve my french.šŸ˜„ Heroes, I really like the meaning of this song, I watched the track by track video with Mika talking about this song and apparently he was told not to include this song on the album, I'm glad he did because it is lyrically one of my favourites. Celebrate, I do like this song, this song sounds like it should be on Wreck It Ralph aswell! I don't like the sound of the chorus so much but I really like the sound of the verses and the last part of the song where he sings "I wanna go home" over the chorus. I don't like the remix of this song on the deluxe disc. The last song I would say is Tah Dah which is on the deluxe disc, I'm confused because they could have just swapped the Make You Happy remix on the standard disc with Tah Dah. I like the circus references, it is a solid song, perfect production. Has he performed it live? I can't find any videos on YouTube. All the acoustic tracks on the deluxe discs are brilliant, I must admit I think Mika is the best acoustic performer I've ever heard, his voice just suits it so much and the fact that he plays the piano on the tracks aswell shows how talented he is. Listening to this album was wonderful and has made me very excited for No Place In Heaven which I'll probably listen to next month as I'll get a copy for my birthday I would love to know what you guys thought of the album when it came out and your favorite songs. I would say my Top 5 at the moment are Emily, Underwater, Tah Dah, Lola and Stardust.
  19. This was a very interesting read! I didn't know Mika had a TV show in ItalyšŸ˜® so I'm looking forward to watching! Does anyone have a link to the thread of episodes with English subtitles?
  20. Hey everyone! Since my introduction post I have been collecting some Mika things! (the best thing I have got so far is a promo CD for Blame It On The GirlsšŸ™Œ) eBay has been the best choice for Mika stuff so far even though there isn't much on there! Anyway I bought a Mika t-shirt which the seller said is official and "with tags" even though I don't think there is any tags! The image on the shirt doesn't look in the best of quality The shirt label is also from a brand "fruit of the loom" and I'm not sure Mika merchandise is made from this company... So if any of you guys have a Mika t shirt like this one I have can you tell me if the one I have bought is official or a fake! I have left some pictures of the shirt below still sealed in its packaging.
  21. Apologies, I thought you were Sophie šŸ˜• I will contact her when I can work out what I'm gonna buy! Yeah there is some stuff from international sellers but the postage costs seem quite high!
  22. Yes I have seen there is a 2 CD album with the live audio and also a bonus song on the first disk (Lover Boy) so I will be buying that for sure!
  23. Will Do! I have heard a few from Origin Of Love as I watched his performance from "Finale Top14". I liked the sound of Emily (Elle Me Dit) but was different to his earlier stuff!
  24. Wow a tour and album in 2019! That is not far away at all! Now I can spend time waiting by listening to Mika's other albums and reading all the threads on here! Awesome
