TBWKTM の時は輸入版は紙製三つ折りでしたが、日本版はプラケースのみだったような…　記憶は曖昧です。

Son nouvel album, «Que ta tête fleurisse toujours», est le premier de sa carrière 100% francophone.

 

Pour la toute première fois de sa carrière, l’artiste libano-américain Mika lance un album entièrement en français. Le titre, Que ta tête fleurisse toujours, lui est venu de sa défunte mère à qui il rend hommage sur un morceau. «Elle m’a donné l’idée que la liberté se trouve dans la créativité», dit-il au Journal.

Tu as perdu ta mère, Joannie Penniman, en 2021 des suites d’un cancer du cerveau. Pourquoi as-tu voulu lui rendre hommage sur la pièce C’est la vie?

 

«Ma mère et moi, on a toujours travaillé ensemble. C’est elle qui m’a formé quand j’avais sept ou huit ans. Je me souviens qu’on voyageait pour que je puisse chanter et on dormait dans la voiture. Vers la fin de sa vie, parce qu’elle était très malade, son dernier message à moi était un dessin. C’était un cadeau d’anniversaire. Elle l’avait fait sur un iPad et m’a envoyé un petit dessin naïf de moi-même avec des fleurs qui sortaient de ma tête. Elle m’a écrit: “Joyeux anniversaire, que ta tête fleurisse toujours”. Ça m’a pris du temps pour comprendre qu’elle était en train de me donner la clé pour mon travail, pour ma créativité. Et peut-être une manière de rester heureux à long terme. Si ma tête fleurit, ça veut dire que je suis dynamique, ça veut dire que j’ai des idées, que je suis libre, et peut-être que je pourrai être heureux.»

Il s’agit de ton sixième album, mais c'est ton tout premier en français à 100%. Pourquoi te sentais-tu d’attaque pour relever ce défi?

 

«Parce que ce lien avec la francophonie est super important dans ma vie. Ce n’est pas Mika qui fait semblant d’être français, c’est moi qui chante en français. Il y a une grande différence. C’est un peu pour les mêmes raisons que la première fois que je suis venu faire un concert à Montréal, ma tête a explosé. Il y a toute une partie de ma vie qui est aux États-Unis, qui était à New York dans mon enfance. Et là, à une heure d’avion de New York, c’est un monde où les gens parlent comme moi. La langue française, le monde francophone, c’est une énorme partie de ce qui me rend moi, de ce qui me rend différent des autres.»

De sortir un disque entièrement francophone, est-ce que cela a un impact sur les marchés anglophones que tu vas habituellement visiter en tournée?

 

«Cette tournée n’était pas supposée aller à l’international. Mais là, on a tellement d’offres pour l’Asie! Ils savent ce que sera le spectacle, mais ils le veulent. Ça me surprend énormément. Il y a des demandes en Chine, au Japon, en Corée du Sud. Les premiers spectacles qui ont été complets, ce sont les 20 000 places en Angleterre, c’est Berlin, c’est l’arène à Amsterdam. Voilà la preuve qu’il faut oser raconter sa propre histoire et que si les gens sentent que c’est sincère, ils viendront.»

Est-ce qu’il y a des spectacles prévus au Québec?

 

«On est en train de planifier ça maintenant. Évidemment, ce n’est pas un secret que c’est une région que je tiens beaucoup proche de mon cœur. C’est un lien différent du lien français avec la France. Je me retrouve un peu dans ça, ce mix de l’Amérique du Nord et de la francophonie. C’est quelque chose que je suis en train de planifier avec beaucoup d’attention, mais pour l’instant je ne peux rien vous dire! [rires]»

À quoi ressemblera ton année 2024?

 

«En ce moment, je suis dans le lancement de l’album en français. Et je fais l’écriture de l’album en anglais et la préparation d’une tournée qui va devenir mondiale. Et il y a une autre télé dans un autre pays que je n’ai pas le droit de dire pour l’instant. Je ne peux pas te cacher que c’est costaud, mais dans tout ce bordel de planning, il y a beaucoup de liberté. C’est en faisant tout ce que je fais que je peux me permettre de chanter tout un album en français. Et ça, je sais que c’est un énorme privilège. Et c’est pour ça que j’y vais à fond la caisse. Même si c’est fatigant de temps en temps, cette liberté artistique, elle vaut la peine d’être défendue.»

“My mother and I have always worked together. She was the one who trained me when I was seven or eight years old. I remember we were traveling so I could sing and we were sleeping in the car. Towards the end of her life, because she was very ill, her last message to me was a drawing. It was a birthday present. She had done it on an iPad and sent me a naive little drawing of myself with flowers coming out of my head. She wrote to me: “Happy birthday, may your head always bloom”. It took me a while to understand that she was giving me the key to my work, to my creativity. And maybe a way to stay happy in the long term. If my head blooms, it means that I am dynamic, it means that I have ideas, that I am free, and perhaps that I can be happy.

This is your sixth album, but it's your very first 100% in French. Why did you feel up to taking on this challenge?

“Because this link with the French-speaking world is super important in my life. It’s not Mika who pretends to be French, it’s me who sings in French. There is a big difference. It’s a bit for the same reasons that the first time I came to do a concert in Montreal, my head exploded. There is a whole part of my life that is in the United States, which was in New York in my childhood. And there, an hour by plane from New York, it’s a world where people talk like me. The French language, the French-speaking world, it’s a huge part of what makes me me, what makes me different from others.”

 

Releasing an entirely French-speaking record, does that have an impact on the English-speaking markets that you usually visit on tour?

ツアーグッズも通販で購入できるようになりましたが、インターフェイスがフランス語なので敬遠されている方もいらっしゃるかと思いまして、日本語に機械翻訳した画面のスクショを貼っておきますね。

 

初心者むけのご参考情報ですが、お役に立てば幸いです。

ほしいアイテムの写真の下の紫ボタンをクリックしてください。

 

 

サイズをドロップボタンから選択してください。

日本よりもややゆったりめなつくりのことが多いです。

 

紫のボタンをクリックするとカートに入ります。

右に出てくるカートの中身で数量を+/-で入力します。

 

小計の下のボタンをクリックすると支払い画面に進みます。
