Hello means 'Marhaban' or 'Ahlan'. For bye we use the word for peace 'Salam' but you can also use it for hello..

I want to learn Arabic!!

i was discussing this with my friend last week.

my school has a 2 week seminar in Mandarin or Arabic.

but it cost $$ and i don't know if it's really worth it for only 2 weeks.

I'll be lurking here to see what i can pick up.:naughty:

Pssshhh your signature is outdated, missy. :mf_rosetinted:

Is hello something like, Marz7aba? Or Mar7aba. I'm a failure!

Marhaba/ hey! :biggrin2:

I think thatt the Arabic language is very interesting. I know some Arabic words and a few phrases, but not much... :boxed:

I know french pretty well actually. I would probably be better with levantine/lebanese variations and the grammar(structure) because there are french words used... some english too(informally) :thumb_yello:

I'd like to learn more of Arabic in general though. :thumb_yello:

(sorry for rambling a bit...) :naughty:

*will keep an eye on this thread...* :wink2:

I know Lebnese does use a lot of French words.. Arabic is very interesting yet can be extremeley difficult at times. I personally struggle a lot with the grammar and stuff with formal Arabic. But I do know quite a lot of non-native speakers who have been able to learn very quickly.. so I guess it varies:blink:

haha it's okay i'm a rambler as well:naughty:

Haha it's so funny how our dialects can include such different words. It's the same here in Egypt.. We'd just say "Hi ezzayak/ezzayek".. But it's still cool because we get to learn a lot of different languages, especially if you're Lebanese because French is so widespread:naughty:
