i can't find the lyrics to Madeline Bell - That's what friends are for

therefore, i've tried to type it in ... but there are some gaps (i can't recognize the words)

could you please help to fill them in and correct me if i heard smth wrong ?

Here's the link to the song:

Running away from life is hard to do

Especially when there’s nothing else for you

Just have a little patience coz life will never make sense

Unless you have lived and learnt all the facts for yourself

It’s really nice to know that you’re my friend

And that you let me call you now and then

If I had many problems I know you’ll help me solve them

And stand by my side, lend a hand, be my guide to the end

Oh, I’d do the same for you I’d even take the pain for you

If I could (?) I might do any good

Change your darkest night to day if only I could

Well, you know, I would

I wish I could do a whole lot more

Haven’t I told you this before

Isn’t that what a friend is for

That’s what friends are for

So if you ???? feel right do the ????

You know I’ll stay by you through it (?) and then

Don’t think twice I’m only

I mean it the way you’re belong with me (lonely?)

Whenever the life ain’t so bad when you know

You’re my friend, man, take it easy

can anybody help me with the lyrics, please?

or do i violate forum rules placing a link to other artist song here?

You’re my friend, man, take it easy

I'm can't quite get the bit in red, but I think the bolded bits are correct.

Hi guys!:bye:

What does bugger mean?

And kewl?

Thanx!:thumb_yello:

Bugger has a few meanings, some of them a bit vulgar, so best to have a look here:

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bugger

Kewl is just a corruption of "cool" and only came into use with the internet. I have no idea why since it's just as difficult to type "kewl" as "cool".

Hi guys !

I'd like to ask something to the English native speakers but I don't know if this is the right thread :teehee:

I have a text translated in English, and I'd like you to read it to check if everything is correct... because it's an important text which will be online for a french company...

It'd be lovely from you guys :blush-anim-cl:

Thanks

There is a lot riding on the way this road turns out.

Everyone has a lot riding on this.

err it kinda hard to explain  but il give it a shot! :)

You say 'I have a lot riding on something/someone' if you put all your expectations into that thing/person, and kinda take a risk with it/them.

So say I ask 'Mrs X' to do me a favour for something REALLY important, I would say 'I have a lot riding on Mrs X'!

Or if I decide I decide to quit school and start a buisness, I would say 'I have a lot riding on this buisness', as if it goes bad, then il be in a bad situation. And I took a risk (quit school) to start it. :biggrin2:

So 'everyone has a lot riding on this' means everyone has put all their hopes into whatever 'this' means.

Hope i havnt confused you even more!! :naughty:

Fall and autumn is the same thing, right? The season after the summer?

And, do you actually say the summer or summer, in the sentence above?

They are the same. I believe 'fall' is more used in the States/North America, whereas 'autumn' is used in England/Europe.

And for that sentence, you would just say summer (with no 'the').

I can look it over if you'd like!

Just one thing - you might want to send it to someone by PM rather than posting it in this thread... I'm not sure if it matters, but because this thread is public the text you paste would be cached by Google and then the French company could theoretically search for the text and find it on MFC. So I guess it depends if that would be a problem or not. :thumb_yello:

Thank you sooo much girls :blush-anim-cl: I really appreciate :blush-anim-cl:

But it's a quite long text, maybe I could send by PM half of it to both of you ? :teehee:

I'm sorry to ask such a thing. And thank so much for answering me. And you're right Mana, it's better by PM, I thought about that anyway :wink2:
