When he is still alive on this page Greetings EzPz_german_squeezy Hello, welcome In Mika's November 2009 Take40 interview with a fan named Olivia he explained, "It's about going mad. It's about .. *laughs* it's about a bunch of things. And it’s about seeing things. I used to see this little kind of gremlin-ly thing when I was a teenager, and I could see it, and I gave him a name, and I would talk about him. And the people in my class at school were kind of used to this idea. And I would use this imaginary thing.. And it looked very much like the baby in Ally McBeal." [he asks if she knows what he means, she says yes] "Kind of like this psychotic, fat-looking hairless and very strange creature which kind of causes a lot of trouble. Very much in a Roger Rabbit sort of way." she asks @ about 0:20 I can't recall any other times he's spoken of the song's meaning. I've always had my own little idea about what "One Foot Boy" means, and this is pretty much what I thought!
littledevil#222
i thought that it was an imaginary friend that he had when he was a kid. i forgot where i herd that from.
Sabine64
For me " One Foot Boy " is the Image of homosexuality which is sitting on the shoulder of a Teenager who discovers his sexuality. This One Foot Boy means so much pressure and isn´t welcome at that time. Does it make sense?

Hannekj
hmmm, to me this song has been about mean things that people say, that brings you down.... That if people say that you should be different it follows you around and "sits on your shoulder" and "comes here almost every day". But his explanation is certainly interesting. Is it just me or does it sound like he's trying to get rid of this "imaginary friend" in the lyrics?

Yes, he is trying to get rid of this imaginary friend, to the point where we start wondering if this "friend" is really a friend at all! I really like the atmosphere and general feeling in this song. It's fun and catchy and bouncy but just a tiny bit creepy. I think the "one foot boy" is exactly like Willy Wonka in Tim Burton's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". You want to like him, and he's definitely not evil, but there's something about him that you just can't trust...

Im just trying to think what other fictional characters are like that. hmmmmm.

It got me thinking about Ollivander in Happy Potter. Already in the first book/movie he seems very wise and all that, but there is still something creepy about him
