Lo showman libanese ha aperto le danze con il brano Ice Cream, singolo estratto dal suo ultimo album My Name Is Michael Holbrook, uscito a inizio ottobre di quest’anno. Durante la serata Mika ha inevitabilmente pescato molto dal suo recente lavoro in studio, ma ha tuttavia lasciato ampio spazio a vere e proprie hit del passato come Relax (Take It Easy), Happy Ending, Love Today, We Are Golden e Grace Kelly che hanno scaldato, e non poco, l’ambiente. Mika è apparso dal primo minuto in grande forma. Connesso fin da subito con il pubblico, ha messo in mostra tutte le sue qualità vocali. Inutile dilungarsi su quanto Mika sia bravo vocalmente perché parliamo di un fuoriclasse assoluto in questo campo. Nel corso dell’anno ne sono passati pochi all’Unipol Arena con una voce del genere. L’artista ha portato avanti uno show di tutto rispetto, senza visual per dare maggiore importanza alle canzoni e al messaggio principale della serata ovvero fare tutto per amore, che è anche il tema principale del suo nuovo album. Dietro di lui e la band solo una scenografia con forti riferimenti alla Pop Art e agli anni Ottanta, caratterizzata dalle gigantografie dei suoi genitori da giovani, definiti “i miei Adamo ed Eva”, da King Kong e dal retro del David di Michelangelo. L’impressione è che Mika sia tornato finalmente nel luogo che più gli compete: il palco. Dopo anni di televisione, con apparizioni peraltro riuscitissime bisogna dirlo, l’artista aveva perso il focus principale, quello che lo aveva fatto conoscere a milioni di persone in tutto il mondo. Ogni enorme sagoma è una storia di passato, di ricordi, di profumi, di colori. Ci sono le polaroid dei suoi genitori, il David di Michelangelo, elementi che rimandano alla Pop Art e agli anni ’80, galassie e pianeti. L’arcobaleno emotivo narrato si mischia alla musica. È quella di Ice Cream, singolo dal suo ultimo album My Name Is Michael Holbrook. All’Unipol Arena di Casalecchio di Reno puntualissimo alle 21.30 entra in scena il divino, ci presenta i suoi genitori, bellissimi, ci racconta di come è nato il loro amore, ci accompagna nella sua personalissima storia. E poi, via, si inizia a ballare con “Ice Cream” e si prosegue sempre scatenandosi attraverso una bellissima scaletta che presenta i brani del suo ultimo album “My Name Is Michael Holbrook” insieme a vecchi successi. Il pubblico dovrà aspettare però il bis per ballare sulle note di “Grace Kelly” brano che portò Mika ad un successo mondiale. Lo show chiude su una reprise di “Tiny Love” con un coro unico e emozionante che risuona per tutta l’Arena. Il palco si colora e Mika appare con un abito bluette e con passi di ballo degni del migliore Fred Astaire scatena il pubblico con Ice Cream e poi si confessa, apre con una lettera aperta alla gelosia che come le vere epistole inizia con Dear Jealousy.
