  1. I can't believe another thread has been started on this ... I think it has already been answered a thousand times... Michael Holbrook Penniman: 'That's his legal name, as in birth certificate, passport, etc' When he was young, he used the name 'Mica' but when the horrid bullies started to call him "Meesha" he decided to spell it with a K... ...at the same time it is a most appropriate name for a mysterious pop star because in some parts of the world (e.g. Finland) it is a male name (think of that famous F1 driver), while in some others (e.g. Japan) it is a female name... Why?
  2. News: Wednesday, August 1 was a busy and exciting day at the Canon Theatre. The venue was taken over by a large film crew from CTV who were filming segments of the popular show Canadian Idol. Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen spent most of the day working with the seven Idol finalists, listening to each of them perform a Queen song and then offering advice and encouragement. Later in the afternoon, Brian and Roger joined the entire company of WE WILL ROCK YOU and the seven Idol finalists for a rehearsal of that night's festivities. After a dinner break, everyone returned to the theatre for that night's sold-out performance. The crowd was pumped even before the theatre's doors were opened. Young and old, locals and visitors, they all knew they were going to experience a performance like no other. Throughout the show, the connection between audience and performers was electric. When Brian and Roger joined the company on stage for "Bohemian Rhapsody", the theatre erupted. Luckily the performance was captured on film and segments will be shown on the next two broadcasts of Canadian Idol. Mark your calendars and don't miss Canadian Idol on the CTV network, Monday August 6 and Tuesday August 7.
  3. I don't understand why it would be a controversial song. Can someone explain, please? ...I'd have to disagree... The most 'American' type of song ( if we consider the charts today) would be My Interpretation.. You don't get any gospel-like songs on the US charts nowadays, and especially not from white artists. It's either urban music or cheesy pop ballads. I think people will love Happy Ending, with or without homeless people..... at least in Europe they will...
  4. Mika's mind works differently, you know.. ...and to me, it would also make sense...
  5. Hmmm.. maybe Deek meant that reasoning the six-song EP release with 'keeping fans happy while he concentrates on his second album' does sound like giving the dog a bone.... Thanks for posting, Freddie.
  6. Let me explain... he was trying to 'moderate' them over there ... ( tried that too, several times...but have given up by now)
  7. ...this song can even be turned into a duet later on with..... Annie Lennox..... or... Aretha Franklin... if and when he becomes THAT big, of course...
  8. Most definitely so.. Usually there are 2 guests and 1-2 registered members on line.
  9. Hi Nina, welcome to the site. ..and...HAVE A NICE DAY :naughty:
  10. That's funny.... I have never voted on that one, although a month ago my choice would have also been Stuck in the Middle..
  11. Perhaps he is now concentrating on the States.... Understandable in terms of sales.... ..but I feel sorry for Avoca...
  12. I can clearly remember him saying that if Happy Ending is ever to be released as a single, he will use images of homeless people for that... I can't recall which interview that was....can anyone help?
  13. Wise decision... I have fully agreed with the choices of singles so far and I wouldn't have liked to see Lollipop released as 4th (5th) one, as it wouldn't have shown big difference from previously released stuff and everyone alive in the UK know that song already, anyway. I have been thinking about the next single release for quite a while now and even though at first I thought the best choice would be Stuck in the Middle, for the last 3 weeks I have been more and more convinced that it should be Happy Ending... As for the video, hasn't he already said that if he makes a video it will be about homeless people in LA ...
  14. well, these are last week's sales only. Perhaps album sales for 2007 would be more revealing....
  15. Yes, but if new ones, then why only an EP and why not an album earlier??? I am sooooo curious. Perhaps it will be a Xmas EP, like Mariah Carey released one right at the beginning of her career... Perhaps Tommy Mottola will also appear in the video - this time as Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer. :naughty:
  16. I think the rumours might actually have been started off by the record company... 'Cross-promotion'. They are both with Universal.
  17. I think you can get any singles / import CDs from HMV or Virgin Megastore on the net..
  18. Yes, I do understand you:wink2: and to me, it would make sense that if it was a bit special. Hopefully not because it would be a limited edition, but perhaps there would be a 'theme' to it, as I mentioned previously... I can't recall that many EPs I have come across...The only one that comes to my mind is the Five Live EP, of course ... obvious 'theme' and also for charity.. ...Mika might decide to release the 'songs you are not supposed to discuss' on an EP. That would make sense, though I'd rather have them as B-sides for singles like Instant Martyr, and have live / acoustic versions / cover versions released on the EP... PS: and thanks for the link to the interview...
