  1. 10,000 wonderful reasons to celebrate!!! Congratulations, V_S And I loved every single one of them!!!! (including this one) keep em coming....
  2. I love the MFC!! Looks like a jacket to me too, but then, I suppose I need to take your eye test also.
  3. Great idea/thread. Here is outside my front door earlier this evening.
  4. It is rather rich, and yet it is so silky and fluffy that it melts in your mouth and it is like eating air or something. It is hard for me to describe. I really like it with the whipped cream.....then it is perfect!! Okay, I had to go investigate graham crackers too and this is so funny I had to share: (from Wiki) "Though called a cracker, it is sweet rather than salty and so bears some resemblance to what Americans call a cookie and the British call a biscuit. The true graham cracker is made with graham flour, which is unsifted and coarsely ground wheat flour. It was originally conceived of as a health food as part of the Graham Diet, a regimen to suppress what he considered unhealthy carnal urges" Wow, might be a good thing for some of the MFC I think you are right about the Granitas, especially since graham crackers are used for cheesecake bases here. Oh, and here is a picture of the Graham Cracker:
  5. No, I can't say I am tired of Mika. I love his blogs/vlogs and I would also love cartoons and artwork. I wouldn't mind one or two blogs a day....but I don't expect it that often. I hope he will only do it when he wants to. They make me very very happy. I'm glad they are on the spur of the moment and sometimes very random. I loved the mentos and Coke one, the hotels, the boat ride, bridge bopping and some of his gigs (sort of from his point of view instead of ours). I really like how he puts music to them that usually fits perfectly or humorously with the vlog, but they are not over-glossy. I hate mtv videos and anything that comes close to that. I have learned a lot about different artists, listened to new music and I am even the proud owner of one copy of Amelia's magazine (which saved my life on the last 6 hour plane trip I took ) I never thought that he would do this type of blogging/vlogging....just so random, short and sweet and perfect. I really wasn't expecting much, I thought they would be things that I wouldn't like at all (there are a lot of things that I don't like), but instead he really surprised me. I know it is not everyone's cup of tea, but, hey, he really knew how I liked my tea (and I am rather picky about that too).
  6. I have a recipe for a Chocolate Silk Pie that my friend gave me. It is really rich, chocolately and silky. But I can't guarantee it is like the Alabama one. (They really know how to cook in the South) The recipe has a graham cracker crust (you can use a cookie crust or a regular cooled pie crust too) and optional whipped cream topping. It makes me hungry just thinking about it. Here is the recipe: Chocolate Silk Pie Crust: Graham Cracker Ingredients: 1 ½ cups graham crackers (around 15) 6 Tablespoons of butter (melted) Directions: Heat oven to 350 F Break graham crackers into smaller pieces Place in reseal-able plastic bag Roll with rolling pin to make crumbs Melt butter Put crumbs into dish, add butter, work butter into crumbs with spoon Put into pie pan, and press with flat-bottomed glass to compress and Make even around bottom and sides Bake crust in oven for 8-10 minutes Take out and cool Pie: Ingredients: 1 cup butter, softened 1 ½ cup white, granulated sugar 3 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder 3 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate 4 large eggs 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract Directions: Melt chocolate (in a dish over hot water) Cream butter with mixer until creamy Add sugar to butter and beat (mix) until it is fluffy (3-5 minutes) Add cocoa and mix for 1 minute more. Add melted chocolate and mix until well blended Add eggs one at a time, beating each one completely into the mixture Add vanilla and mix thoroughly Put into pie crust, use a spatula to spread evenly, if needed Refrigerate for one or more hours before serving Whipped Topping: (optional) Ingredients: 1 cup heavy whipping cream ¼ cup confectionery’s powdered sugar 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract Directions: Whip cream with mixer until it is light and fluffy Add sugar and vanilla and mix thoroughly, but don’t over beat Use large spoon or spatula to gently spread over pie (or serve as a separate topping) Decorate with chocolate shavings, if desired.
  7. OH.... and here I thought he was in training for the 2012 Olympics and the new Olympic sport, called canyoning. Someone even said that he waxed his chest hair so he could slip into the water better and make more points (although, it is rather a defeated purpose when one wears a wet suit, huh?) I must have just fallen asleep and had a weird dream.... sorry
  8. Hmmmm.....I can give you my two cents worth. If you decide you want to join you pm Petra with the details of what type of partner you are looking for. For example: someone from UK or Japan, or anyone outside the US etc etc. You can also specify youngling or oldling.....or you can find your own partner by pming someone you see on the list and asking them. If they agree to be your partner, you let Petra know. Then, you talk to your partner to get some ideas of what they would like to receive, what they like (or you stalk them on MFC ). This part can be fun too as you get to know more about your new friend. You usually make mutual agreements on when you will send each other a parcel. Sometimes things get delayed but you are responsible for keeping in touch with your partner and making sure that they know what is up. Then, you shop. You wrap or pack in a box. You might include a note or a letter, and you mail it off. (and wait to receive yours) To me the fun part is doing the shopping for someone else and trying to think of fun, interesting things that your partner would like. Then, of course, one day receiving a box of goods from some foreign port is rather exciting too. I will have to say that I done it several times and I have really enjoyed it and I learned about other places and made some good friends. Hope this helps, and I am sure others will be able to tell you more!
  9. Hi OhMollySUe How are you? Are you a new Mika Fan or new to the MikaFanClub? Anyway, Welcome!!!! And I'm glad that you are so happy!
  10. They look delicious, Chickadee. So, 60g of butter is around 1/4 cup of butter, right? I usually only measure butter by TBL or cup ....so I went to this site to try to figure it out. Do you think I'm right? http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/gram_calc.htm
  11. ohhhhh, a recipe thread. I think that is a marvelous idea. Has anyone started it yet? I hope you will put a link here somewhere so I will see it.
  12. My Friends are here to wish you a Happy Birthday!!!! Well, maybe they are just here to party, but I will wish you a Happy Birthday... Happy 25th, Mika, I hope you have a wonderful year! xxo
  13. DaMango!!! It is so nice to see a post from you! I think of you often....sorry I'm not good about corresponding! Sorry to hear about your troubles, sounds like you are on top of things though. And I have to say that I love your tote bags. They are awesome! Thank you for sharing the pics. I can just imagine you running around Bellevue/Seattle with Prince or Mika tucked around your arm. Take care and I send you my love..... (hey, I just got a pm from you....but I guess I will post this first)
  14. Yay!!! Humphrey has been found! I keep thinking it must be my turn next, but no, not yet. Soon? Safe travels. And Hello to everyone here!
  15. HaHa Just saw the comment on MS. Nahce, very nahce.
  16. It is very accessible...I really like it! It is clever and cute, and has a good rhythm to it. It paints two relevant and clear pictures that are related...the big bang, and the exploding dust bunnies. And it makes me laugh at the end. Plus the end gives new meaning to the title. I'm not very good at discussing literature or poetry....but I know what I like and I think you are a very talented writer, Jack. (And you should share it with Mika)
  17. The first and ONLY comment. Wouldn't that be wonderful if it stayed that way?
  18. hyyyyyyyyyyyppppppppnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooootttizzzzzzzing
  19. Ha ha....has it been approved?.... oh, I mean night night:
  20. Hmmm.... I was just looking at the comments again and wondering who posted as Geisel and who posted as Theodore. Dr. Suess was his pen name and his real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel. Some very clever people we have on here, huh? I can't wait to see more of the comments tomorrow. Hopefully they will all be approved. Well, good-night everyone!
  21. I just saw your comment on MS, Artsyfartsy....it really made me laugh. I saw Sara's but I didn't see your comment yet....has it been approved? Have you noticed how the first hour or so comments usually get approved really quickly and then later on they are approved in groups at interval times or something? I don't know....just it seems a bit strange. I thought they were being approved automatically....but sometimes I wonder. This was a fun day...although I did end up bringing some work home because for some reason I didn't get it all finished at work
  22. Goodnight too! and thanks for joining in on the fun! Sweet dreams!
  23. Thank you, thank you and thank you! What an arsenal of weapons you all have!!! I did get some work done finally, although now I am back for a bit. ha ha..... Mika
