  1. I didn't really get what the song was about, with the video, and I must admit, I prefer Mika when he sings alone, not when he has to make way for someone else in the song. It's a bit like Celebrate, which would have been much better as China Boy, without changing it to fit PW vocals. I like Mika's part and could imagine the fans singing "It's a beeeeeautiful disasteeeeeeeer" at the gigs. I look forward to Mika's own version of the song, but I don't think it's going to to top NPIH as my favourite Mika song.
  2. It's because it's the weekend. When I've gone to London in the past, at the weekend, like for the Planet Hollywood party, it's a nightmare on the trains as they always do engineering work at the weekend. Some part of the line is always being worked on and once, for example, we had to get the train to Birmingham, then get on a coach for an hour to God knows what station (can't remember) then get on another train for three hours to get into London. I don't even chance it now at the weekend. In the week it's easy, it's only 2 and a half hours on the train from Manchester. The buses also take too long. But gigging is probably getting past me now at my age, with my conditions. I'm just so happy you all can go and see Mika. I have had my time of meeting him and looking up into those chocolate-brown orbs of his, so I'm contented.
  3. Some facts about The London Palladium Theatre. The Palladium is an iconic venue in the UK! They always had the Royal Variety Performance there (I don't know if they still do as I don't watch it now) and in the 1960s there was a televised variety show on a Sunday night which had the star acts of the day on the bill, including The Beatles. It was (I don't know if it still is) the world's biggest theatre. It's such a well known venue in the UK, so I'm so thrilled Mika is going to headline there. It should get him some attention. I hope he uses an orchestra. This would be the best thing he could do and would suit the theatre so well. With such an iconic venue I doubt he'll perform his usual show. Even though his usual show is beter than anyone else's I feel in my bones he's going to do something special. I hope the venue sells out, but not before all the lovely MFCers have got their tickets.. I'm just as excited as if I was going myself.
  4. That's a fantastic idea! However I am sixty-one years old and have the tech skills you'd expect a sixty-one year old to have. If anyone wants to take over for this, then that would be great! Could we also add a line like See you at the Palladium, somewhere, to celebrate the new gig as well? Anyway, I'll adjust the first post with what we have for the lyrics. An idea, if we wanted to add something extra, like See you at the Palladium, or something else, might be for someone to do a short rap in the middle of the song, after all it doesn't have to be exactly like LYL all the way through, and it would be a way to get something extra in there. Anyway, I'll update the lyrics for now. I thought of a start for the rap, if we use it. Mika we'll see you at the Palladium That's as good as seeing youin a stadium.
  5. It's the weekend so again it's not for me. The trains are a nightmare at the weekend, and the buses take too long. I have disabilities and so does Alan. If it had been in the week, it would have been okay. However I am thrilled about this! Is he doing a full show there? It's wonderful if he is!
  6. There's a new Georgio Armami (don't know if it's spelled right) Si fragrance ad on UKTV. They still use the same AOW instrumental.
  7. I'm wondering how we're going to get the lyrics to Mika, since the show isn't live. Everyone has done great with the lyrics.
  8. I agree that we don't really need all the Mika's I'll change the line about Mika being gone It's so long since you've been gone would fit better.
  9. That looks good. Does everyone think that is enough for the lyrics? I've adjusted the part about Grace Kelly and the line below, so that, to me, it fits the rhythm On this post it can be fiddled with, then I can update the first post with the finished lyrics.
  10. Well the thing is that I have tried to include the lines, as close as possible, to what people have submitted. We're writing something original, so I'd say it doesn't have to be like the original song. We're just using the tune. But I wanted the song to have everyone who's contributed, their lines, so that each person can say "I thought of that bit" However, your idea for the chorus is good. What do others think. Remember, we have plenty of time to get it right. we're So, I've adapted the latest ideas for the rest of the 2nd chorus We're listening with eager hearts To the wisdom you impart About the songs you want to play Pop, Classical and Blues today. The first post is updated. I've started a possible rap Mika we'll see you at the Palladium That's as good as seeing you in a stadium
  11. Right! So if we've decided on LYL, I'll go to the first post and see what I can do with the lyrics, including the latest submissions. Okay, here's what I've done up to now. It's on the first post but I've c&p it here to save everyone looking. I've tried to arrange it into the rhythm of LYL, but it's only my ideas, and it's not finished because someone might have a great idea for the finish. Mika now at last you're on the radio Give the world a show, singing high, singing low We're hopeful and we're happy Hearing you on Radio 2 Everyone is tuning in to hear you now English, Welsh and Scottish all agree somehow Your words make us think and your melodies make us sing It's been so long since you've been gone (Possible chorus) Please don't ever go away Don't forget us in UK Mika stay with us all day Don't you also see it's true In this world we all love you. You give joyful hearts no choice Everytime we hear your voice Mika you took time but now you're here again (2nd verse) Your voice is our favorite sound, since way back when Grace Kelly, was on the radio Your sweet beaming smile makes happiness, profound Our hearts fill with love each time we hear your sound. We love, support and follow you. Just like when we first found you (second chorus) We're listening on radio 2 Everyone from MFC And the world will all agree We're listening with eager hearts To the wisdom you impart About the songs you want to play Pop, classical and blues today.
  12. He may do sooner than you think. Have you looked at the thread for the song we're writing for him on Chat About Mika? I'm amazed at the enthusiasm and talent of his fan club!
  13. That sounds good. It's getting really exciting! I've updated the first post with what people have posted. I tweaked it a bit to make it make more sense, and where there is I, as in just me, I changed it to WE, as in all of us. I also changed one of the references to Radio 2, to,2 to "listining to the radio too", to make it a bit different. I also separated it into a possible chorus, if we decide to use a chorus in the song. I love how things are going with this. It's beyond my wildest dreams!
  14. Well at the moment it's a rough idea. If we can get the basic poem right we can tweak it to fit whatever music we all decide upon. I've written alternative lyrics for Mika songs before so it shouldn't be too hard. Once we all agree on the tune, whether it's one already written by Mika or something original. An idea might also be to use an existing tune, and add something original like a bridge or a chorus. But this is just an idea. I'll take your suggestions on board for the lyrics anyway and adapt the first post with what people have added since this morning.
  15. Everyone is doing so well and having great ideas. I'd suggest that people don't submit anything that is too long, otherwise the song will end up like, the size of Bohemian Rhapsody. Much as we all love Bo Rap, we can't have one that's too long and we want lots of you guys to have a chance at getting lines in the song. So, I'm editing what you've all submitted up to now to see how we go. For the musicians here. It's great for you to collaborate. If I try to organize the lyrics, and I'm open to suggestions about that, maybe you musicians could work between you to come up with some music. Won't Mika be thrilled! after all, his show is about song and songwriters, I bet he never dreamed such talent was on his own fanclub.
  16. Thanks everyone. At the moment I'll gather the lines you all submit. If you can't think of things that rhyme, don't worry. I can make them rhyme, or others can. There are things we could do once we have enough lines. We could make the lines fit the tune to an existing Mika song, I've done that many times on Wonkaland, so it's doable. Or if someone is musical and wants to write a tune for our fanclub song, they are welcome to do that. But that would mean someone recording the song to send to him. If someone wants to do that, go right ahead and suggest it. As a suggestion for some of the lines, this could also be a way of asking Mika for those UK gigs.
  17. Hi fans! I've thought of a way we could celebrate Mika on Radio 2. You don't have to be from the UK to join in, but I hope all the UK fans on here might have a go. I was thinking, we could write Mika some lyrics. He may not use them in his songs, but it's the thought that counts. I'd like them to be about how excited we are to have him on the radio and how much we love him. If we get together to write something wonderful, from his fanclub, they could be emailed to him at the radio station. I'm sure there must be a way to do that. What I'm thinking is that we could each write a line, to begin with, and see how it goes. I'll gather them into the first post and we'll see how they go. We can then discuss if the lyrics should be adjusted or switched around etc, to get the best effect. What does everyone think? I will start it with the line that came to me when I learned Mika was going to do the UK show. Then I'll add the lines you all submit. here's what we have so far, organised into the poem. Any suggestions, welcome Dear Mika now at last you're on the radio Give the world a show, singing high, sometimes singing low We're hopeful and we're happy Just hearing you on Radio 2 Everyone is tuning in to hear you now English, Welsh and Scottish all agree somehow Your words make us think and your melodies make us sing Don't you know, we do need another gig here oh... It's so long since you've been gone (Possible chorus) Mika please don't ever go away Mika don't forget us in UK Mika please stay with us all day Mika don't you also see it's true That in this world, all love you. We love you, we have no choice Everytime we hear your voice Mika you took time but now you're here again Your voice is our favourite sound, since way back When Grace Kelly, was on the radio Your sweet beaming smile makes happiness, profound (I still can't follow the rhythm of LYL for these two lines... ) Our hearts fill with joy every time we hear your lovely sound And we really really have no choice oh... Just like when we first found you We're listening on Radio 2 Everyone from MFC And the world will all agree We're listening with eager hearts To the wisdom you impart About the songs you want to play Pop, Classical and Blues today. This is the rap Mika we'll see you at the Palladium That's as good as seeing you in a stadium. Fans will gather from near and far Excited to see you, the shining star Your shows always leave us on a high Making us feel that we can fly Thank you for remembering the UK We're all ready for a fantastic day.
  18. If only he could realize how much we still love him in this United Kingdom.
  19. Oh God be praised, this is the BEST NEWS! It would only be better if it was a series, but as someone has said, if there is a great response, who knows what will come of it! He will be awesome! I know that for a fact! He's so knowledgeable about music and composers so the show will be phenomenal. This is what I've always meant about Mika being more than a popstar and that he can be a big name in music. Not necessarily by having number 1s himself, but by showcasing the talents of artists, such as Adele. His speaking voice is so beautiful as well as his singing voice, so I'm thrilled he's going to use his dulcet tones on a radio 2 show. What a wonderful way to start 2016. All those poor aching heads from New Year's Eve (including mine) will be soothed by His Royal Mikaness on New Year's Day. Now I'm hopeful and I'm Happy. That should be a line in a new Mika song!
  20. Where did you hear about Mika on Radio 2? I know nothing about it up to now. I've been a member since 2007. I've been active all this time, and have been very disheartened recently, with nothing happening in the UK. I'm sure Mika could win a following again in the UK, if he would be more active here. I hope this radio show is truly going to happen. It would be a start!!
  21. When I saw the thread I was excited, until I saw the date. I'm glad the date was there to curb my excitement.
  22. The song I relate to most is Love Today. But NPIH is now my favorite Mika song.
