  1. I really hope this radio show and the performances on the website (for which there are no words to convey his sheer excellence) will gain Mika some interest again in the UK. I hope they are looking him up And getting hooked!
  2. I've been here since 2007. Marilyn Mastin UK Can I also mention how upset I get when some people don't spell my name right. It's not hard to spell it right. It's my username beside all of my posts and, of course, on my profile. Some people just keep on spelling my name as Marylin There is no such name. It's not Mary, and Lin It's Mari and Lyn In other words, it's Marilyn In my life away from MFC, I ask people to called me Mari, because I was always having to answer to Marlene or Marion. despite the fact that Marilyn is one of the world's most famous names. Everyone can guess who I was named after, so if people can spell, and say, Marilyn Monroe, why can't they spell and say, Marilyn Mastin? Anyway I would love to be added to the list. Thank you.
  3. What a wonderful 2 hours! Mika was brilliant and I just can't get enough of him! I loved everything he said and especially the story behind the Thriller song and about his kind-of meetings with Annie Lennox when they had singing lessons. I loved all the covers he performed on the Elton John Piano. It was an incredible show.
  4. The video is great. I love how Mika's reactions are spliced in with the MFCers singing. I could never have made the video so well done to those who have. I'll be just happy if my peom and letter gets to Mika
  5. Helen, when I said about, not too much other stuff, it was only because I felt that the times the song suddenly stops, kind-of takes away from the song. I felt it was the song that was important for Mika to see and hear. For him to hear all the lyrics and see all the MFC faces. I wasn't trying to be mean about it. I hope you don't think I was. I'm very proud of what everyone has done.
  6. Helen I've pmd you with my letter. Our email has an error on it and I can't send it. I'd done a lovely letter and didn't want to loose it, so I've sent it to yo on this site. I'll post it here as well. You can copy and paste it from wherever you want. Here, or you message box. Dear Mika. I have been a fan of yours since 2007, when you burst onto the pop scene. But as you will see from the poem I wrote for you, I wasn't aware of you until you released Love Today. From the moment I heard your voice, I felt that I'd been waiting my whole life to hear you sing, and it had been a long life. I was in my fifties. But your voice affected me like no other singer's voice ever has, and it still does. Please don't give up on the UK. I understand why you do your TV shows in Italy and France, but people in the UK need you, even if they don't know it. So please take any opportunity that you feel is right for you, to do radio or TV in this United Kingdom. I'm thrilled about your radio show on R2. You are so wise and knowledgeable about music and songwriters, I just know that you will be awesome. I'm so proud of you, for your goodwill trip to Lebanon. I'm sure you have made everyone you met, very happy, and have given them hope. You are a good man, and, as I said in my poem, you are going to Heaven. Please don't ever doubt that. Have a wonderful 2016 Mika, and please give my love to Andy and all of the Penniman family. Love from Marilyn Mastin
  7. Fantastic! Especially with it being anew song. Not one from LICM
  8. Thanks everyone for what you say about my poem. I'm very touched. Could I also suggest that, in the video, there isn't too much other stuff. It will take Mika's attention, off the important part, which is the words of the song.
  9. Here's the poem I wrote for Mika. The video is brilliant, but I think it would be better to have LYL as one block, and maybe other things before and after. Also, it's 2016 next year, not 2017. A Poem For Mika. I first heard your voice on a day when it was raining All around me, people were complaining Then, on the radio, I heard you singing You sang 'Love Today' and my heart began winging It flew to a better place It landed in a brighter space When you sang your words and your beautiful tune You brought the sun on that wet afternoon The sky was no longer grey And I began to love today From that moment I sailed on a musical ocean Which sent my life spinning in cartoon motion Then I met the boy who knew too much Your music gives the whole world, that golden touch And as sure as the sun still shines high above Mika, you are the origin of this love A love that comes to you from near and far To say, how wonderful you are You are our good guy who was fated to be born In the land of Lebanon, which war had torn You left that land, as a refugee, to roam Through Europe, to England, which you now call home But your past is something you never forget And your heritage is something you never regret You heard the cries in the land where your life had begun And returned, to bring goodwill to refugees in Lebanon So Mika, I'm convinced, that when your life is through There IS a place in Heaven, which God has saved for you I love you Mika. 10. I don't know how to send a picture, and I don't want to hurt Mika's beautiful eyes by him having to look at my ugly mush. I'll let all of you attractive young ones send pics and I'll just email the poem, which I'm working on. You can copy & paste it into a document as I don't have Word on my computer. I'll send the letter in a seperate email, to avoid confusion. I hope that is okay.
  11. Happy Christmas and New Year to all on the brilliant MFC website
  12. I just felt that everyone was congratulating everyone else and I didn't seem to be mentioned. It wasn't that I wanted a fuss, and it has been a team effort, but I just felt a bit sidelined. Since that has happened a lot in my life, I just sort-of expect it now. But the following post I've quoted makes me realise I haven't been sidelined. Yes I'd love to do that. Thank you so much.
  13. Happy Christmas and New Year everyone
  14. Thank you for what you've written about me. I was starting to get a bit upset that I was being left out, after having the idea and trying to get the song in some sort of order when everyone submitted the lyrics. I did try my best.
  15. I saw it on the other thread. It's really amazing and explains so much about the crisis and everything to do with it. Mika and James have done something really good with this report.
  16. This all means so much more to me than Mika having a Christmas #1 single. I'm so thrilled he's now a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN, as it's always been a dream of mine that he would be. With his multi cultural and multi national background, teamed with his phenomenal skills in languages, this has to be something he was born to do. He's so much more than just a popstar. What he's doing is so worthwhile. I'm so proud of our own Good Guy.
  17. I suppose that he could change his mind about acting. But I think if he did, it would be for a bigger and better part than the cameo in Zoolander. We'll have to see what happens. I'm also really proud of our Good Guy these days.
  18. This is all so moving. I like the young reporter, James. He is very eloquent and thoughtful.
  19. That's my suggestion too. I know he doesn't want to act and it's no use him doing something he's not comfortable with. But he could write film scores and musicals. That would be awesome! In the meantime, his charity work in Beirut will get lots of people tuning in to R2 on NYD for his show.
