I think many MFCers stay close to the venue. In case you feel uncomfortable in a not as good neighbourhood (I honestly don’t know about that, maybe someone else here knows?), it’s always better to stay close to people you “know”? It’s also easier to find someone to travel with, so you don’t have to be alone, bad neighbourhood or not. Something to consider maybe?

Yeah I know that most of us want to stay near the venue but as I don't have anybody to travel with, I'm not sure if a suburb area is a place I would feel comfortable to stay. Also I'll probably arrive late on Friday so I don't want to feel unsafe while arriving to the hotel at night.

  2. I'm questioning a bit my hotel choice, I wanted a hotel near the venue but now I've read that the Pantin area isn't the best neighborhood to stay and that some people didn't feel safe there... Also it's quite far away from the sights. So now I'm considering if I should rather book a hotel that's closer to the city center and travel a bit to the venue. Does anybody here have experience with this part of the city?

:lmfao: Same, I'm not planning to spend much time in my hotel room anyway  On the other hand, if I'm not going to wear a nice elegant outfit for this special occasion, then when? I'm fed up with wearing crumpled clothes during the lockdown :aah:

That's true, also the dress (or another piece of clothes) you choose for the gig is something you'll keep and every time you wear it, it kind of reminds you of the show... :biggrin2: For example, I can remember what I wore to the past Mika gigs even though it wasn't anything that special. But the clothes are part of the memory. So it actually is more important than the hotel room where you just stay over night. :naughty:

Btw, I'll probably have a free bed in my room even though I'm still not sure about the hotel but I made a reservation for 3 nights in Art Hotel Paris Est just in case everything is booked out by then... So if anyone is potentially interested, please let me know in the messages.

Same.. having a wrap/big scarf and possibly an umbrella would also be an option though. A wrap is easier to stow away than a heavier jacket, unless you find a really light and classy option for a weather resistent jacket, then please share!!

Wrap, jacket, blazer, umbrella, new dress... :teehee:

It seems I'm looking for cheap hotel rooms etc. so I can spend all my money on the outfits...

Usually I don't wear black either. My sweater is not completely black - rather dark grey - and I liked white collar with embroidery (it's not the same as on the photo I posted)

I think it's a good option for Philharmonie. Not causal but not overdressed either.

I don't wear dresses or skirts  - so it's not an option for me.

I'm sorry if it sounded offensive, I really didn't think of your outfit when I wrote that I don't wear much black, I just wanted to explain that we probably have different style and taste (and that's absolutely fine)...

I like it, also the golden blouse, and the way I remember your style from the 2 times we met I think it'd fit very well, to you and to the occasion. The skirt is colorful but it looks elegant anyway. :thumb_yello:

Thank you for your opinion! :original:

Is October cold in Paris?  I'm used to a warm October in Barcelona but I think it is different in Paris

I don't know but here October is very tricky, it can be quite warm but sometimes it's rainy and rather cold...

For the other outfit, I was looking for a dress like that (if it isn't too short but looks comfortable)...

Well, I prefer one colour cloths and this is what I usually wear.

I think that the skirt is ok - better to have colourful skirt than the top. While sitting it is not so visible :wink2:

But as the concert is at the end of October don't you think you will be cold with this light skirt? What shoes do you want to wear?

I'm just considering my options so far and as I wrote above, I'd probably need a black blazer anyway and of couse, I'd wear tights. As for the shoes, I have black pumps.

Don't get me wrong, I love the skirt and I don't want to hide it. It seems we simply have a different style as I usually wear colourful outfits... :teehee: I also prefer bright colors over dark ones, I almost don't wear black (with a few exception but it's never black only).

I know it will be probably cold but if I would like to dress according to the weather, the only option would be black trousers. So I'm just thinking of wearing a dress or skirt instead but maybe I'll stick to the trouses anyway because it is the most practical option. But dresses and skirts seem a bit more special to me... :biggrin2:

*I wrote rocks instead of skirts because of German...

Is the skirt as short on you as it is on the model? I personally would wear something that is right above the knee or longer. The colours itself are great, especially if you wear it with a dark tight top and a dark bolero. Just the length I’m wondering about.

I think it's a bit above the knees but tbh, I don't have any longer skirts than that and when I was searching for festive dresses (not gowns) today, most of the skirts were even shorter (mini which I don't like)... Even the dress I posted here is just above the knees, I'm a tall person. So I guess it's fine as most cocktail dresses or even the dress from the article someone posted above are this exact length.

As they say less is more.

So imo if you wear this colorful skirt you should choose black top or dark green or dark violet top.

If you wear black trousers you can put a colorful top.

Thank you but that wasn't what I meant, of couse I wouldn't wear a colourful top to this skirt, I was just wondering if the skirt itself isn't a bit over the top for this occasion... Otherwise, I'd probably wear this blouse:

I don't count on it. You never know if you don't burn your cloth being in hurry.

Especially when your outfit is made of a very delicate fabric.

    I feel the same!

my first day outfit is almost ready. Now I have to think what I will wear on the second day...:dunno:

The big question is how to put so many things into one small suitcase :lmfao::lmfao::lmfao::lmfao:

    :yeah:

So now, because of you, all I can think about is what I'll wear... :lmfao: I didn't find a suitable dress online (yet) and my wardrobe offers just a few options – the dress I posted here some time ago (not very practical for a suitcase, the fabric is very light and delicate), a white skirt with a top (nice but very summery and I only have black pumps so it's not the best combination) and black trousers with a more festive top (very practical and simple but maybe not as special)... I was also considering this skirt with a golden blouse I bought just a week ago but I'm not sure if the rainbow colours aren't too much but on the other hand, it's a Mika gig, so what do you think, over the top or not?

(There's a golden thread so the skirt is a bit shiny, Idk if it's visible on the pics I found online...)

Either way, I think I need a black blazer... :teehee:

I totally agree with you. And the best would be fabrics that don't need ironing

Yeah, a suitable fabric is important too, maybe even a simple dress with a "stiff" or wrinkle-resistant fabric would be an option if I'd find something like that but all the appropriate dresses and skirts I have are rather with very light fabrics so I guess I'll take a look online if I find something more fitting and travel-friendly... :teehee:

I want to take only my cabin luggage so not too much things to take.

Same, that's another thing I thought about a lot, if I wear a dress, it won't fit into my suitcase or at least not without getting wrinkled... So I was thinking that maybe a skirt and a blouse would be a better option for travelling. Maybe the same skirt with two different tops because tbh, I don't want to travel with that much clothes just for a weekend. Especially since I won't go by car.

However, the last time Switzerland won was a long time ago. It was in 1988 and with a singer who I'm pretty sure you all know and is not really Swiss. Honesty, it almost needs a miracle for Switzerland to win again. Sorry for the off-topic, but I felt the need to share this.

    :offtopic:

Fun fact, apparently the Swiss song in 1988 should originally be sung by a Czech singer (Lenka Filipová) but she didn't get permission to travel and represent Switzerland so she was replaced by Céline Dion...and the rest is history. :naughty:

But regarding Mika, I don't see him doing Eurovision as well, neither as an artist, nor as a host, but he could be a guest like Afrojack etc. this year.

It know it has seats from category 2 and not category 1 but i would assume it also then has category 3, 4 etc.

I also got tickets today in the end:lmfao: in the stress of getting through and everything failing when i did get on I just panic bought them... I'm going to see if i can get some though on the 25th as they will be a lot cheeper and then I can give mine to someone else if I need bc I didn't even get that good seats!

Same here, even though I'm quite happy with my seats. Tbh, I'd be happy with a cheaper seat for one gig and a better one for the other but I don't know if you can keep just one ticket from both subscriptions and resale the other ones.

I've just got on! I wanted to see what the booking process etc was like bc i'm waiting for the under 28 sale on the 25th BUT to anyone that is still in the queue there are still loads of sections left with tickets left. i'm not sure how many there left are in each section though as it hasn't given me an option to look on a map but there is still hope!

Btw, do you know if the under 28 presale contains all the categories or just some cheaper seats? I was considering it too but I wasn't sure how it works exactly so I bought the tickets today...

ok, it's been weird and somehow complicated but I made it. Now I have to realize I have the tickets, arrange the trip and above all keep fingers crossed for all of us that we can actually be there in 4 months

Same, I still haven't planned anything yet and nobody knows what situation there'll be in 5 months... I hope I'll make it but I'm still "grateful" for the option to resale the tickets on the website even though I hope I won't need it!
