Mika teams up with the job platform "Indeed": He says there'll be a live streaming concert on June 24, that he's putting together.

As you may already know, "PRIDE" is a term used to promote the self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people as a social group. Every year, many cities and countries set aside a period of time to observe and promote Pride, with parades and other events designed to recognize the impact LGBTQ+ people have had in the world. Pride month celebrations take place at different times around the world, but many countries celebrate it in June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City, a pivotal moment in modern LGBTQ+ social movements. Today is June 1, 2021, marking the first year that Mika Fan Club will be observing Pride Month, with an eye to amplifying the voices of our LGBTQ+ members. While we plan to celebrate Pride all month, we're designating next week, June 6 through June 12, as MFC Pride Week, and will have a number of special activities. Among the highlights will be a few competitions and giveaways, and a PRIDE-themed edition of our weekly Mika Fan Club Instagram Live. If you'd like to participate in MFC's Pride celebration, there are a number of things you can do. For our LGBTQ+ members: if you have a story about how Mika/his music has affected you -- perhaps he's inspired or uplifted you in some way, is part of your coming out story, or possibly just helps you celebrate in your daily life -- please share that with us either here in this thread or on Instagram with the hashtag #MFCPride, and we will share those stories on social media. Additionally, if you are an LGBTQ+ musician or performer who would be interested in performing a short piece for the MFC Insta Live, please let us know. For everyone: if the idea of Pride inspires you to create art of some kind, please share that with us on social media with the hashtag #MFCPride and we'll repost you. And when we say "art" we don't just mean drawing or painting -- it could be photography, dance, poetry, music... you get the idea. Ciononostante Eghosa si è impegnato attivamente per la difesa dei diritti LGBTI nel suo paese, fino a quando non è stato costretto ad abbandonarlo. Oggi Eghosa vive in Italia e continua con il suo attivismo, con il supporto di Arcigay Vercelli: con passione e lavoro instancabili ha cercato altri ragazzi che come lui erano fuggiti dalla Nigeria e da altri paesi dell’Africa, fino a formare un nutrito gruppo denominato “Arcigay Africa” – al grido di “siamo africani e siamo orgogliosi di essere gay”. Voce collettiva, scuola elementare Randaccio: Il 10 maggio 2016 è stato effettuato dalle Forze dell’Ordine lo sgombero forzato dell’insediamenti informale di Via Mirri, a Roma e decine di bambini rom hanno visto interrotto il loro percorso scolastico. Tra le pochissime voci levate contro l’azione, quella di un gruppo di genitori e insegnanti della Scuola Elementare Randaccio (Casalbertone) frequentata da decine di bambini rom, cha hanno scritto una lettera aperta dove si rivendica la centralità della scuola come “luogo principale dove attivare politiche di integrazione”. Dipendente pubblico, Pino Tilocca: Pino è preside in un liceo classico sardo, dopo essere stato sindaco del piccolo comune di Burgos. Durante il suo mandato di primo cittadino subì diversi attentati intimidatori per le sue scelte – tentò di riordinare l’assegnazione delle terre civiche e chi le occupava da anni non la prese bene – e infine gli uccisero il padre. Impegnatissimo nella lotta alle mafie, è presidente di Libera in Sardegna. Da preside è famoso per il suo lavoro a favore dell’integrazione, dell’accettazione delle differenze e della lotta alla povertà. Le scuole che ha diretto sono diventate centri di riferimento per questi temi. E’ un costruttore di pace e tolleranza ed è temerario: nessun testimone di qualche valore umano e civile è troppo lontano o troppo in alto perché non provi a scomodarlo affinché incontri i suoi ragazzi. Giornalista, Valerio Cataldi: Valerio è un giornalista specializzato in immigrazione e criminalità organizzata. Serio e sempre rigoroso nell’accertamento dei fatti e delle fonti, è conosciuto come cronista attendibile che nulla concede al sensazionalismo e al colpo ad effetto. E’ suo l’importante servizio realizzato per il Tg2 con le raccapriccianti immagini nel Centro di accoglienza di Lampedusa. Gvvocato, gli avvocati del processo Plan Condor (& una menzione speciale per Alessandra Ballerini): Sta avviandosi a conclusione in questi giorni il processo di primo grado nei confronti degli assassini, sequestratori e torturatori fascisti sud-americani alleati nel Plan Condor. Sono vent’anni di lavoro giudiziario memorabile di uno straordinario team di avvocati – tra cui Giancarlo Maniga (già avvocato nel processo Priebke e autore della denuncia sui desaparecidos uruguaiani che ha dato avvio nel 1999 al processo Condor), Arturo Salerni e Mario Angelelli di Progetto Diritti, Nicola Brigida e Marcello Gentile – grazie ai quali i figli delle vittime di allora avranno finalmente un riconoscimento giudiziario. Inoltre, una menzione speciale per l’avvocato Alessandra Ballerini, da sempre in prima linea nella difesa giudiziaria dei diritti umani e particolarmente esperta in materia di diritto dell’immigrazione, che è oggi impegnata come avvocato della famiglia di Giulio Regeni nel tentativo di ottenere verità e giustizia per il giovane ricercatore brutalmente ucciso in Egitto. Ricerca, Centro diritti umani di Padova: Il Centro di Ateneo per i diritti umani dell’Università degli Studi di Padova dal lontano 1982 forma generazioni di studiosi sui diritti umani e sulle tecniche e le istituzioni di promozione e protezione dei diritti civili, politici, economici, sociali e culturali. Al Centro si deve l’aver elevato i ‘diritti umani’ a tema di rilevanza accademica. Il Centro sin dalla sua nascita si è mosso sempre nel solco della interdisciplinarità dell’offerta educativa nella consapevolezza della interdipendenza e indivisibilità dei diritti umani. Oggi diretto dal Prof. Marco Mascia, e a lungo prima dal Prof. Antonio Papisca, ha sempre favorito un approccio teorico-pratico ovvero ha posto lo studio, la ricerca, la didattica al servizio di un’idea di cambiamento e progresso civico e democratico. insegnante, Paola Rizzo: Paola è preside della scuola media Casteller di Treviso. Nonostante le proteste delle associazioni genitori e della giunta cittadina (ma con il pieno supporto del consiglio d’istituto e del corpo docenti), ha avviato a scuola, in collaborazione con la Caritas Tarvisina, una serie di incontri sull’immigrazione, dando spazio anche alle testimonianze dirette di alcuni richiedenti asilo. Creativo, Condividi Love: “CONDIVIDILOVE” è un progetto di comunicazione sociale basato sui meccanismi di condivisione del web e dei social media che porta avanti la rivendicazione di pari diritti per le coppie di ogni orientamento sessuale. In Italia il cambiamento non ha alcun illustre testimonial, e deve quindi partire dal basso, con tutti i mezzi di cui dispone: il primo, mai come oggi, è la condivisione. Per questo un gruppo di liberi cittadini di ogni orientamento sessuale hanno deciso di mettersi insieme per una causa che dovrebbe appartenere a tutti, al di là di ogni differenza, promuovendo iniziative importanti e di grande impatto. Carriera, don Ettore Cannavera: Don Ettore Cannavera per decenni si è messo al servizio di una altra idea di pena. Attraverso il suo doppio ruolo di cappellano dell’istituto penale minorile Quartucciu di Cagliari nonché di fondatore della Comunità ‘La Collina’ sempre nel capoluogo sardo, non solo ha offerto a centinaia di ragazzi entrati nel circuito penale occasioni di recupero sociale ma ha anche svolto un ruolo critico nei confronti di una idea di pena vendicativa. Ha da sempre sostenuto pubblicamente come la carcerazione per i ragazzi dovrebbe essere definitivamente superata. Artista, Mika: Famoso cantautore e showman libanese naturalizzato britannico, Mika è da sempre attivo nella promozione dei diritti di tutti: dopo le offese scarabocchiate sul manifesto di un suo concerto, ha impugnato la penna per spiegare quanto fa male il silenzio sull’omofobia, lanciando due hastag (#RompiamoIlSilenzio e #Lamorefaquelchevuole), diventati immediatamente virali, e dando così il via a una protesta non violenta contro l’omofobia. Mika è anche un supporter dell’Agenzia ONU per i rifugiati, insieme alla quale è tornato nella sua terra natia a visitare e dare supporto alle migliaia di profughi siriani. As the title suggests, this is a thread for Mika songs that are about mga (multiple gender attraction) or sga (same gender attraction). In other words, LGBT Mika songs. Before starting, I'd just like to say that as a mga person myself, Mika's lyrics are very important to me. Representation in music is extremely important, and I find myself relating to a lot of what Mika sings about. It's also extremely important that Mika isn't afraid to be himself, even in his music. I respect him immensely for that. So yeah, basically what I'd like to say is: thank you Mika for my dreams. You truly are my Good Guy. Alright, now let's get down to business! I'm going to make a list of all LGBT Mika songs, album by album, complete with links and descriptions. Here it goes: Life In Cartoon Motion: Billy Brown: This song is about a married guy who falls in love with another man. Later on in the song we discover that he is bisexual, and very confused. Grace Kelly: While there aren’t any direct mentions of sexuality, this song is very much about people judging MIKA for his flamboyant exterior. He wrote the song about record companies who asked him to change. I'm assuming that part of what they wanted him to change was obviously his mannerisms and style. I think the line “should I bend over just to be put on your shelf” demonstrates this. Stuck In The Middle: MIKA wrote this song about his grandmother, and while he still doesn’t openly mention being gay, there are certain lines that indicate there is something wrong with him in his grandmother’s eyes, a constant source of disagreement between them. I’m thinking of “ours is a family that’s based upon tradition, but with my careless words I tread upon your vision”. Later on in the song he mentions being different from his siblings; “Are five kids better than one who doesn’t lie to become?” I see this as MIKA admitting he is different, but that he won’t lie to please anyone. The Boy Who Knew Too Much: We Are Golden: This one isn’t explicitly about being LGBT but it is definitely about being yourself, unapologetically and freely. The line "we are not what you think we are" gives off very gay vibes. Toy Boy: This song is the story of two young men who are in a relationship, and who are judged by society. It's openly about sga. Blame It On The Girls: MIKA starts the song by speaking of a man who “has looks like books take pages to tell”. I don’t know if MIKA himself ever explained this song, but I have a theory that he might be speaking of himself. The chorus says; “Blame it on the boys who keep hitting on you”. I think that’s pretty clear. Rain: Now I know very well that my explanation is a bit far-fetched, but hear me out - I think Rain is about a same-sex couple who face a problem: one of them is sick of pretending and hiding and wants to come out, while the other still wants to stay closeted. I base my theory on quite a few things. First, the use of the word “ordinary” in the lyrics, several times. “You’re making me more ordinary / This ordinary mind is broken / Trying to be ordinary, was it me who was the fool?” Ordinary here as in straight. You’ll notice that “ordinary” is used in a derogatory way. Also the fact that MIKA says he’s ready for “more than this”, and urges his partner to rethink his position (”you better get back”) Let’s not forget their “broken minds”, and that this is “nothing like the life we wanted”. But the spoken part to me is by far the most revealing: “I’m not angry, don’t know what to do after all the years that I spent you, can’t blame you for the things you said when you used to hide away” Origin Of Love: Emily: Although it's the English version of "Elle Me Dit", it's quite different. The lyrics mention Emily being gay, and that it's okay. Lola: No direct mentions of being mga/sga, but Lola is about a female best friend giving MIKA advice, trying to tell him not to fall in love. MIKA reassures her that he won’t, but it’s not very convincing. Lola is very much the stereotype of the ‘straight friend’ that helps out her male gay best friend. (this is of course a stereotype and it could mean nothing, but it just sounds very gay to me lmao) Elle Me Dit: In MIKA's own words, this song is about the "horrific things a mother can say to her son to get him the f**k out of her house". Part of what she says to him is "t'es défoncé ou t'es gay?" which translates to "are you high or are you gay?". Also she asks him to "be like the other boys, go play ball and be popular", this is pretty revealing too. Underwater: A beautiful love-song, and at one point the lyrics go "flying through a bright blue sky with a space boy high". No Place In Heaven: All She Wants: This one is about a gay man who has problems with his mother, who would prefer him to be straight as to "avoid any spectacle". He even goes as far as marrying a woman to please his mother, but he quickly realizes that his "heart is in peril" and leaves his wife. Good Guys: This song is about the lack of LGBT representation in media, and a heartfelt tribute to MIKA's heroes. The ultime gay anthem, if you ask me. L’amour Fait Ce Qu’il Veut: This is a french song and the title says it all: it literally translates to “love does what it wants”. No comment needed. (oh and i might also mention that ALL the pronouns used in this song to speak of MIKA’s partner are male pronouns) Last Party: A song about Freddie Mercury. No Place In Heaven: A heartbreaking song about MIKA being sga and asking God if this makes him a bad person. “There’s no place in heaven for someone like me”, but then he says “there’s no place in hell”. J’ai Pas Envie: Another french song. Again, the pronouns used are male. Oh Girl You're The Devil: This one is about a girl and a boy who are both LGBT and trying to face society. Good Wife: A gay man is desperately in love with his straight friend, whose wife makes him miserable. The gay man wishes he and his friend could be together. Earlier this week, in a world exclusive, Mika sat down with Instinct to set the record straight (so to speak): “If you ask me am I gay, I say yeah. Are these songs about my relationship with a man? Mika's gig posters in Florence were nastily dirtied with an homophobic insult, as you all might have seen. We Italian fans were shocked and hoped Mika would never see them, but we understood by his management that he had done and that he had decided to react fiercely and turn the insult into a sort of powerful campaign against homophobia in Italy. We saw first Giulio Mazzoleni take on the hashtag #Rompiamo il silenzio (break the silence) that some fans had launched endorsing it and immediately after Mika himself doing the same. We then realized that Mika did not want to mute that insult (hence the hashtag #Rompiamoilsilenzio) so we followed him in an amazing campaign on twitter, voicing his and our rebellion against homofobia. Mika seems really involved in the fight the LGBT community is carrying on in Italy and it's not the first time he voices his support aloud. As you might know, Italy hasn't a law for civil partnerships yet, and a weak version of it is still lying in Parliament. The final vote on this law is being postponed all the time. The LGBT community is tired, depressed,, disillusioned. Some very disruptive lobbies are doing all they can to spread false information throughout society. People are fighting a daily war and are extremely frustrated. In this environment, Mika's campaign started and that is why it has had this amazing success, for which I'm totally in awe. I am grateful to Mika, to Giulio Mazzoleni and to the fans who started this twitter campaign with such an appropriate hashtag, to which they added #lamorefaquelchevuole (translation from Mika's song L'amour fait ce qu'il veut). Up to today, singers, journalists, opinion makers, bloggers, press and media in general have praised Mika and joined in the campaign. The Mayor of Florence wrote Mika apologies and had the posters removed. SKY tv is airing all his concert dvds and Good Guys video clip with the hashtag watermark. I'm J Munoz, from Madison, WI. This is the first time I've joined any sort of site like this. So please be patient while I learn to use these threads and such. I am a relativity new fan of MIKA, so I would actually REALLY appreciate hearing from fans who have been around longer to help me navigate his entire discography. I first heard of him because a friend of mine and I are obsessed with Wicked and loved that he sampled 'Popular' in his song 'Popular Song'. I went and searched him on the internet. I'm gay and I really love helping queer artists, so when I found some interviews he did with the Advocate and such I immediately bought his album, The Origin Of Love. It took me a while to listen to the entire album, but when I finally did listen to it I LOVED it. I usually don't like entire albums. I find that sometimes artists have a couple weak songs. I am a huge fan of pop/electronic/dance music, and I really because obsessed with the album. He's a great singer and I couldn't stop listening to TOFL. I just joined this forum after I found the posting that he's touring NA this Spring. I am planning on seeing him Live either in Chicago, or my hometown of Minneapolis. Super pumped to be here!
