Jeffrey
I think the gig in Brussels was one of his biggest so far. (8000 people) But the concert was already sold out somwhere in july. And on ebay a tickets went up to 120 euros. So I think that he also would sold out the sportpaleis (Antwerp)! (from 11000 up to 17000 people, it depends on how they build the podia, platforms...) Next year mika? Ow or why not the koning boudewijn stadion? (Brussels, 50 000 people) ow now I am dreaming a bit too much

Moonlightchild
Lief artikel/ sweet article Gig Brussel http://damusic.be/reportage/972 Patrick Van Gestel Niet voor kniesoren Vorst Nationaal, Brussel - 13 november 2007 “Do I attract you? Do I repulse you?” Kching!! --------------- Do I attract you? Do I repulse you? The first words of Grace Kelly reflect perfectly the opinions concerning the Lebanese/English artist, who left nobody unmoved whit his `life in Cartoon Motion’. Questions are asked about his voice capacities, about his relevance and about his originality. Although there is almost absolutely not 1 recent band who sounds more really original, Mika has been blamed that he is an insipid imitation of Freddy Mercury and/or Robbie Williams. It’s about time therefore to put the criticasters in one's place. With the hopeless traffic situation it is almost impossible to predict if you will be on time for the support act. Take with that the ridiculous parking difficulties in forest and you understand why we banish to the cam of Vorst-Nationaal /ForestNational when the support act is already playing its last numbers. The sound is marvelous well today, this is exceptional for forest because of the bad acoustics in the building. In the pause the public gets numbers served up which half of the people present only know of covers or samples from the newest hip-hop numbers. nevertheless there are people off a former generation and they have been with or without company of their (frequently still very young) children. I say this simply to show that Mika is a “good for every generation” phenomenon. When the room lights are extinguished, all people present bounce right up to be able to catch a glimp of the hero of the evening. The podium is abundantly lighted with colored neon’s. In the central back of the stage there is a very big cardboard tree. The public has to be still a little patience while Dolly Parton’s Nine To Five let the public know they can leave the daily grind behind. The tension is intensified by a femaile dancer who splashes out of a enormous ball and eventually sounds of the first notes of Relax (Take It Easy). It’s immediately notable, that the man obtains effortless and very purely the high notes who some adore and others hate from his album . Assisted by his group a gitarist,a bass player, and a small, but very powerful drummer girl, the tracks sounds amazingly good. On the basis of only one album, it’s no sinecure to present a complete show. But Mika succeed in this seeming effortless with little art add-ons. During Big Girls (You are Beautiful) there, is the giant Big girl doll, together with some lovely dressed up chubby girls who were picked out of the audience Mika shows that the beauty ideal is very relative. But there’s also confetti, on garbage cans has been battled out playing the drums duel, etc. The high light of the theatrical event is the bunny shadow show for the first bis number Lollypop , hilaric situations with bath bunnies and revenging crocodiles . That ,to all these situations has been amaizingly reacted, speaks for itself. From previous description becomes clear that Mika (and marketing machine) knows how to entertain such varied public. everybody sung along. Even at a new number (How Much) he succeeds to let the public sing along simple thinks full enthusiasm. Moreover he speaks smoothly French (even that degree that he sings the refrain of Grace Kelly in French) and more than considerable Dutch. `Life in Cartoon Motion ‘succeed already for making your mood from heavily cloudy to kolorfull working magic .also the live performing is a source of energy to the further week at work. Back off to the people who keeps on complaining about pour imitations.K’tching !!
