Oh I'm soooo glad he signed this act :wub2:

We are in the middle of political debate about the "wedding for all", including homosexual people. And I was really proud that he stood for that too, besides other French artists, even if he isn't French :thumb_yello:

t4p! there's a discussion about it in germany as well atm, i wish mika would sign something like that here too.

for those who read mfc from their mobile and don't know french, here's the google translate version of the article:

"We artists and personalities from the entertainment world, we are a generation for whom marriage is obvious to all." Thus begins a letter published by some forty artists who are committed to marriage for all, while the debate continues to shake the country.

Even if the question is a little less quelled a few weeks ago, the debate on marriage for all is far from over. And I must say that, even if the question is often asked artists through interviews, they remained fairly quiet here in their entirety on the subject. A view shared by Olivier Ottin, Emmanuel Moire manager and press officer Thomas Pawlowski, who decided to do anything about it.

"We were appalled by the inaction of the arts which nevertheless often gives great moral lessons. This petition was launched a few days before the publication of the article in Le Monde, co-signed by Alex Beaupain, Pierre Bergé, Josiane Balasko ... This petition us renewed hope, we continued our efforts in trying to be most popular reach more people. It has suffered many rejections, much more than previously thought, even from artists who sang homosexuality as anything ... "say the two men.

But forty artists responded to present some gay, some not. Among them, Emmanuel Moire, winner of "Dancing with the Stars" season 3 and recently rejoiced that the TF1 welcomes the cast of the show. "I think it is well that I do as part of a program on TF1 that is a large chain popular with who I am, my personality, everyone knows, it is not hidden," he explained at the beginning of our adventure puremedias.com colleagues. Lorie, who also participated in the show this season until its elimination in the semi-finals, is also among the signatories, as Julien Clerc, Patricia Kaas, Jenifer or MIKA, who made his coming out earlier this year.

There are also among the signatories comedian Alex Lutz, host Valerie Damidot his colleague Christophe Beaugrand or singers Quentin Mosimann, Sheryfa Luna Sofia and Essaidi. Also agreed to engage Hy Al, Alex Goude, Anggun, Anaïs, Amandine Bourgeois, Barbara Carlotti, Baptiste Lecaplain, Baz'art to girls, Mazué Ben, Chris Mayne, Clarks, Dominique A, Elsa Lunghini, Jeanne Cherhal, Jean Pierre Danel, Jennifer Ayache of Superbus, Julie Zenatti Karima Charni, Karine Ferri, Keren Ann, L, La Grande Sophie, RoBERT Laurent Lamarca, Mademoiselle K, Mehdi Zannad, Merwan Rim, Malison, Severin, Sophie Carpentier, Tal, Thomas Fersen, Thierry Gali, Valerie Damidot, Ysa Ferrer and China Moses.

In the name of equality and equality that only artists are committed to marriage for all, as indicated in the text around which they gather:

We artists and personalities from the entertainment world,

We will not talk about politics.

We shall not discuss religion.

We only talk about equality,

We are a generation for whom marriage is obvious to all. We encounter every day in our jobs, in our personal lives and gay friendly, singles, couples with or without children, with or without the desire for children.

We all come from a "traditional family". However, some of us have experienced mixed family, parent, event or fact, some have been brought by a third party, provided we are proud of our identity and these differences have made stronger.

Today, we no longer support to see France gays and lesbians abused, we no longer support to see our friends, our families, our fans insulted.

We do not want a France or some are stigmatized, we do not want a France where there would be under citizens.

We call for tolerance and openness of each in the name of "Living well together."

We artists and personalities from the entertainment world and positions we support marriage and adoption for all.

it seems Mika is the only British celebrity who signed it....

Yes he is, and to be honest, I think he is the only "non-french" artist who signed it... With "non-french" I mean non-francophone, as he is half american-lebanon and doesn't live in France, even if he does speak French fluently...

So proud he signed that :blush-anim-cl:

No, it's not :sneaky2:

Well, the actual government wants to legalize it with a law, in 2013, but this project creates big political and society debates... Some people and political want to make a referendum in France to see if the French people really want the "wedding for all" or not...

I think the law will pass at the Assembly, as the government has majority, but it's not done :fisch:

They say France is the country of "freedom" and of the "Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, (or Bill of Rights)" ... but only when it's convenient for them (politics, etc.)... :sneaky2:

I don't think an issue like this should be open to referendum. That's why you have a bill of rights. Some rights should not be infringed based on shifting public opinions.

Personally I think all marriage should be abolished because as long as divorce is permitted the whole thing is a farce. But since married couples are provided with certain legal benefits it should be an option for everyone.

I totally agree with that... I don't understand why they want to open a referendum in that kind of issue...
