Yesterday evening I wasn't able to see the concert so I can watch it here

En juillet 2022, Mika était de retour aux Francofolies de la Rochelle pour la troisième fois.

Il a offert sa musique virevoltante au public de la grande scène de l'Esplanade Saint-Jean-d'Acre, surfant sur une pop tridimensionnelle et hybride où sa voix, unique, fait office de guide.

Au fil du temps, Mika a considérablement étendu son spectre sonore, bâti d'autres voies, mais jamais il n'a perdu ce fil d'Ariane originel qui le relie à ses premières amours.

Le temps a joué pour lui, à l'évidence, et on ne s'étonne guère, à l'écoute de ses titres, de le retrouver tel qu'en lui-même. Cette captation est l'occasion pour ceux qui n'étaient pas là de vivre ce moment unique et pour ceux qui y étaient, de le vivre à nouveau.

In July 2022, Mika was back at the Francofolies de la Rochelle for the third time.
He offered his twirling music to the public on the main stage of the Esplanade Saint-Jean-d'Acre, surfing on a three-dimensional and hybrid pop where his unique voice acts as a guide.
Over time, Mika has considerably extended his sound spectrum, built other paths, but he has never lost this original Ariadne's thread that connects him to his first love.
Time has played for him, obviously, and we are hardly surprised, listening to his titles, to find him as in himself. This capture is an opportunity for those who were not there to live this unique moment and for those who were there, to live it again.

OK, this is a message to Mika's spies: please subtitle his French songs for this show. Actually, please subtitle the ones in English too…I still can't understand what he is saying even after I know the words!

I am seriously not kidding. The average viewer will miss the extraordinary lyrics he writes;  even when they are able to appreciate everything else about his performance, that's s lot to miss!

 

PS—I know one can opt for subtitles through closed captioning but that is often a joke and would be not effective for this.

I would like an option on PBS to translate what Mika says in-between songs, as well. As it is now they say [Speaks French]. That actually might be what the French songs say on CC, too.

The concert that is airing on PBS on the 30th is from the summer of 2022. The one that aired in France recently (but BEFORE Orange) was a concert from earlier this year, and I haven't heard anything about it broadcasting in the US yet.

 

I hope that clears things up and doesn't make them even more confusing. I'm not sure I understand my own writing here.

Actually, I got more news about this earlier, but I've been traveling today so didn't have a chance to post until now.

The concert will air in August in the NY metro area and Philadelphia - more to come. 

• WNET/13 = 8/2 at 9p, 8/4 at 7p
• WLIW/Long Island= 8/11 at 7p, 8/16 at 1a
• All Arts WLIW local channel = 8/7 at 9p, 8/8 at 1a and 8a, 8/14 at 12p
• NJ PBS (NYC, NJ/Philly) = 7/30 at 10p, 8/1 at 4a
• AA Nat’l =  7/14 at 10:57p, 7/23 at 4:54p, 7/30 at 11:18p

(For the record, I don't know what that last channel is )

 

Anyhow... "more to come" sounds promising for those of us not in the New York or Philly area.

so, I checked. I have seen it on YT but it will be nice to have my own copy handy.

So my excitement is more for Mika—and American hooomans. since it’s being shown and reshown and reshown here, it will give so many people a chance to see him. That truly makes me happy. America, meet Mika!!!!!
